OOC:
The party finds 280 gold on the giants.
The companions board the airship once more. Some dents and splinters mark the wood of the deck and railing, but beyond that the cosmetic damage it seems to have weathered the attack well.
The journey continues. Working together from their memories of the path to the Hand of the Seldarine, Ras and Zenithral are able to navigate the path between and over the towering peaks of the mountain range. Looking down at the icy paths, congested trees, and steep cliffs, the heroes are glad they do not have to cross it all by foot! They might very well arrive at their destination by nightfall.
OOC:
Party benefits from a short rest, since it's easy to catch a quick nap while traveling on an airship ;)
They head deeper into the Spine of the World. Even from their high vantage, all they can see in any direction are formidable mountains for miles and miles. The hours pass, and they find themselves wondering just how large this mountain range is. Judging from the maps available, in all their travels so far they have barely scratched the surface of this huge expanse of ice, stone, and wilderness. Anything could be hidden here, tucked between the peaks.
The sun is just beginning to set when the airship passes over one ridge to find a wide valley. There, in the middle, is a city made up of five towers. Seeing it with their own eyes, the heroes get the feeling that something is very wrong with the place. Rather than the shining graceful spires they might expect of an elven city, the towers seem dark, crooked, and forbidding. Instead of a hand raised to greet the sky, it looks more like a hand bursting up from the earth, desperately scrabbling at the air.
Oswald steers the ship closer, and a flock of birds bursts out of the cliffs nearby. It wheels towards the airship, and as the creatures grow larger the party realizes that the approaching flock is not one of birds.
These creatures are much, much larger. Each one has the furry hindquarters of a goat, the golden front half of a lion, and the leathery wings of a dragon - and one head for each: goat, lion, and dragon.
"Chimeras! Bad bad bad bad bad!" Oswald starts hopping up and down.
"Auntie Gladys always said I should install some weapons, but they just take up so much space! Well, quick, kill them or drive them away or something!"
The flock splits into two groups, wheeling through the air to attack the airship from opposite sides!
