OOC:
Oh, no, sorry, my bad, I hadn't noticed that Darren had posted.
Mark is up next.
Jul 8, 2019 4:39 am
Mark does his best to run to the combat as he really can't see much from where he is now.

The ghostly hand passes through Ian's armor, leaving a burning chill on his skin. His features pale as one might if wandering outside on a frozen winter's night. He hisses and shudders but his eyes burn bright with anger and rage. Instead of looking fearful he gives the wraith a triumphant, arrogant smirk.

Despite the fell attack, the long haired human keeps his grace and brings both his blades to bare against it. As he swings to attack he summons up a portion of his own energy, the blades coming to life with a crackling hiss as they slash at the undead. "Now, dame Siekert! Hit with it everythin' you got!"

As he finishes his slashing combination of attacks, he hops back to give room for Hilde to attack it full-on. This close, his expression is visible, the wretched grin of one in pain but happy to fight through it.
OOC:
Full attack and then 5 foot step 'south west'. That will clear the way for Hilde to attack.

Ian slashes furiously at the creature, however, it's incorporeal nature leaves it very much resistant to damage, and the attack did not have as much success as it would have had against a regular, solid opponent... Ian feels that unless the situation soon changes, he might find himself on the loosing end of this exchange of blows.

The other undead then act. 3 of them will attempt to get rid of this strange dire bat which suddenly appeared out of nowhere while teh third one will make a double move to get near Hilde.

The element of surprise must still have been too fresh on these corpses' mind as they somehow manage to all mist the dire bat, flailing in frustration at it more than any form of coordinated attack...

Hilde is up next.

Rolls

1st undead attack on dire bat

2nd undead attack on dire bat

3rd undead attack on dire bat - (1d20+4, 1d4+1)

1d20+4 : (8) + 4 = 12

1d4+1 : (1) + 1 = 2

OOC:
Oh, hey, I just realized I never rolled a Fort save for the Con drain from the Wraith. Should I do that now?
Jul 8, 2019 3:31 pm
Hilde rushes forward, her hands glowing white as she casts "Smite Evil" on the ghostly presence. "Get back, Ian!" she yells to him. "You'll only get yourself hurt." With a powerful cry from such a tiny frame, she slashes with her great sword at the creature, confidence burning in her eyes.
OOC:
Going to cast Smite Evil, then (as the former is a swift action) power attack.

Darn forgot another 2d6 for the sword being holy!

And forgot about Cleave. Didn't realize right away it could be used.

Hilde, calling on the power of her faith, strikes at the incorporeal apparition before her. Despite missing with her second attack, she had more luck hurting the creature.
OOC:
Cleave demands making a single attack as a standard action. Since you made a full attack, there is no cleave.
Ireena will draw her crossbow while covering as much of the distance in the undergrowth as possible (double move for a total of 40-ft. reduced to 20-ft. because of the undergrowth).

Heather is up next!

OOC:
Sorry, that was my bad. I misinformed Hilde as to how Cleave works. Oh, I don't want it to nag on it but I think the question I had above might've been missed. I realized after the fact that a Wrath's Con drain gets a Fort save DC 17 and I think we both missed it when it happened.
Jul 9, 2019 2:01 pm
I think all I can do is sprint toward the battle. Run for a full round 3x speed = 60 ft.
Jul 9, 2019 3:33 pm
Third round of combat

Initiative
27 Shandra
26 Veroth
22 Roland
17 See-through creature
17 Darren
14 Mark
10 Ian
10 Malevolent corpses
7 Hilde
7 Ireena
6 Heather

Combat Map

Conditions/Terrain features
Light Undergrowth: The light green vegetation is light undergrowth. It costs 2 move squares, provides concealment, and +2 to DC of Acrobatics and Stealth.
Heavy Undergrowth: The dark green vegetation is heavy undergrowth. It costs 4 move squares, provides concealment (30%), +5 DC of Acrobatics, and +2 circumstance bonus to Stealth.
Trees: Standing in same square as tree gains partial cover (+2 AC, +1 Ref), Climb DC 15.
Massive Trees: Grants cover if staying behind it (+4 AC, +2 Ref), Climb DC 15).
Mist: Mist is ever present in the valley and limits vision. Beyond 30 feet, creatures have concealment (20% miss chance).

Shandra will approach another 20-ft. (actually full 40-ft. move halved in undergrowth) while trying to hide. In the mean time, her summoned dire bat will move to avoid being surrounded and attack a different undead. What comes around goes around and this time it is Shandra's dire bat which misses...

Veroth is up next!

Rolls

Shandra's Stealth check

Dire bat's attack

OOC:
Can you describe what Veroth sees from the engagement at the lower left of the map? Looks like two not-undead being attacked by a wight and another undead.

Never mind, One is Hilde, one is Ian...

Veroth swoops down and drives his rapier into the wight-looking creature.

Rolls

Silver rapier +1, flanking, sneak attack - (1d20+14, 1d6+3, 4d6)

1d20+14 : (6) + 14 = 20

1d6+3 : (6) + 3 = 9

4d6 : (5133) = 12

Jul 9, 2019 4:40 pm
Veroth swoops down, taking the wight by surprise, his rapier piercing it straight through and poking on the other side. This was not enough to destroy it, but it is in a really bad shape.

From Ian's and Hilde's point of view, what looks for all intent and purpose like a winged drow suddenly swooped down and impaled one of the undeads attacking you...

Roland is up next!
Jul 9, 2019 5:24 pm
OOC:
Oh, I see I made a mistake. There is a Con save to avoid taking Con drain from the wraith. Ian, you can go ahead and roll your Con save.
Jul 9, 2019 5:35 pm
OOC:
Thank you for the response! Sorry I was such a nag about it.

Rolls

Fortitude - (1d20+7)

(10) + 7 = 17

Jul 9, 2019 6:37 pm
OOC:
Oh, by the skin of your teeth!
Small retcon of last turn: Ian feels a chill in his soul as the incoporeal creature strikes him, but summoning his strength, he manages to fight off this unnatural, supernatural cold... It is now obvious that this creature's touch does more than damaging living beings.

And now back to regular initiative order where it is Roland's turn.
Jul 9, 2019 10:58 pm
OOC:
I placed Roland on the map. All of his turns will be movement until he gets to that location.
Jul 9, 2019 11:29 pm
OOC:
OK, cool.
It is now the wraith's turn. It will have a choice of 2 new potential targets to hopefully drain Con from, but since Hilde is already right here in front of it, and since she inflicted a decent amount of damage to it, it will go ahead and attack Hilde. Althought, it turns it's head and watches Veroth, smiling as if it recognized someone...

Hilde is hit for 3 points of damage and must succeed at a Fort save to avoid taking Con drain.

Rolls

Corporeal touch on Hilde

Jul 10, 2019 2:12 am
OOC:
Fort save

Rolls

Fortitude - (1d20+12)

(19) + 12 = 31

LOL
OOC:
Mark might some day make the map...
