Bruv hadn't spent much time in a library for what seemed like years now, but was probably only close to a year... They were fixtures of his youth, such as libraries were in the Sunderland anyway, bent over tables with scrolls upon scrolls rolled out and weighted down at the corners spread out before him... The arcane, alchemy, and history were all important things to the Sunderland Orcs. And though he didn't take the time to frequent such places of knowledge much in adulthood, it felt natural enough getting back into it.

He drew upon the essence of the place, the ancient air, and earthy smells of the bindings and shelving, and he centered himself with his magicks and hoped he'd find something good.
OOC:
Use the advantage on the casting for a Boost?

What an... interesting roll. I'll recovery the Strain I earned casting with 1 of those, and the others... Learn about something related?
To his chagrin, Bruv can't find reference to Blackwing Swamp in any of the sources where he'd suspect to find it. He does come across an interesting collection of Cailn folklore titled Old Ways and Days in Southern Cailn. The author details several customs that have fallen out of favor since the Third Darkness: training birds to fight, eating hallucinogenic plants, and a preference for ad hoc religious rituals in lieu of organized services.

Tronus that's thanks the Gnome for his informative perspective on the region and states while he doesn't need such wears himself he'll look into associates that might and hope they can get a reasonable price due to the encounter.

Nera is perhaps disappointed. Inside, she finds the inn's common room nearly empty save for a couple of well-dressed Humans having a conversation at a table toward the back. A doughy-faced girl in a fine dress looks surprised at the Catfolk's appearance. "Um, sorry, Miss. Are you lost?"
Must be one of those quiet poetry inns. Bah.

Nera smiles as she approaches the counter, not bothering to take her hood off. Not sure which angle would work best she talks casual. "No, actually. I've a message to personally deliver to a patron here. Goes by Rathin I believe."

Nekurr greets the monks as they go about their lives and then stops for a while to listen to the ceremony. If that is taking the too long, he continues to meet Gaerros Bargretor. A treasurer of St Durvin’s would have access to records if any missions have been funded near the swamp. In addition, he was the point of contact with that Vizeron business, so maybe he would know how the old goat man is doing.

"Oh, the Elf lass?" the woman asks. "She just went up. I think she said she'd be leaving at first light for the castle. I'll ask if she'll see you."

The woman bounds upstairs and around a corner. A few moments later, she returns with Vintoloness in tow. The Elf woman's eyes widen upon seeing Nera. "What is it, Miss Nera? Just wanted to prove that your colleague wasn't lying when he said you were good at finding people?"

The ceremony drags on for a few more minutes as penitents approach the altar one by one, rubbing their feet across a carpet, and touching a metal chalice dedicated to St. Durvin. This contact delivers to each one a spark representing the deity's blessing. But once the head priest launches into a long homily, the Half-Catfolk finds his way to Gaerros Bargretor's office.

The treasurer is busy at his desk, which is piled high with scrolls and ledgers, when Nekurr enters. When the man finally notices his visitor, he looks at Nekurr over a pair of reading spectacles. "Ah, yes. Mr. Nekurr wasn't it? I trust you found our contribution to your employer agreeable after the lamentable Dribbage affair, so is there something else you wanted to ask about?"
Jan 20, 2020 9:51 am
"Good morning. I see that things have gotten busy here. Thank you very much for the contribution, it was very agreeable." Nekurr smiles as he looks around at all the scrolls and ledgers. "Talking of which, how is the old Dribagge doing? That was some magic he got himself mixed with right?"

After the short introductions and catch up, the half-cat moves on to the next point "So, it turns out that our next job will take us south to the Blackwing Swamp and I was looking for some information and maybe some shelter if your order was to have some mission going on in the area."
Jan 20, 2020 2:44 pm
"Yes, the Dribbage matter is concerning, isn't it? We've gone so long without such darkness troubling the realms," the man says. "We've got him under lock and key and ward, I assure you. The Order recognizes its mistake in trusting him in his freedom. Unfortunately, the fact that he's still alive has complicated matters at the cemetery. We're currently trying to have him declared non compos mentis on account of his dark dabbling."

Upon Nekurr's second question, Bargretor winces. "It sounds rather interesting, I'm sure, but this stack of papers is due at the high court by noon tomorrow, so I'm afraid I won't be able to help you..."
OOC:
Nekurr can try to sway his opinion in some way. Two setbacks for him being so pressed, but two boosts for having a working relationship with the agency and for being a fellow cleric. Leadership or Charm are both RRP.

Forgot to mention but that other armor options sounds nice (although +5 oof).
"There is nothing to prove. You left in such a hurry I believe you had forgotten about the writ you had promised us." Nera interlocks her fingers as she waits expectantly.

She blushes. "Oh, I did, didn't I? I'm a bit eager to get back to the castle, I guess. Well, wait here and I can get it." The Elf woman disappears upstairs for a few minutes and returns with a rolled up piece of parchment bearing the baron's wax seal. "Hopefully that will help explain things to the villagers. Good luck on your journey. Just send for me in the treasury when you're back in Nornholt."

Assume Tronus already made the check. You can get the leather armor there if you wish; 3 x normal leather cost. I suppose you don't know about it yet, so we can assume you reconnoitre with Tronus at HQ and he tells you. But did you want to try to slum it in the dice dens for information on Isle?

"Non compos mentis? Seeing how he is now a goatman... I guess it's not just his mind. I guess with him locked like that there is not chance to chat with him then..." Nekurr looks at the pile of papers "Noon tomorrow? Can't they put some clerk under your capable hands? It will take some prober organisation to have that much overwork done in time! "
OOC:
If I remember correctly he was proud of being tidy and organised so I'll try to charm him with praise and suggest he gets more people on the job.

Maybe he can't have other's do his job, but he can suggest someone who can help me?
OOC:
GM edit: Adding one more boost for appealing to his Strength. (Nice memory!)

OOC:
Appealing to his Strength actually should give you a third boost, which put you over the top to success territory!
Bargretor pauses and looks up at Nekurr. "You know what? You're right. A junior scribe could to this." He takes off his spectacles and calls into an adjoining room: "Bertrand! Come take over this paperwork. I'm taking a break." Then, he says to Nekurr, "Now what was it you needed help with? You say you're traveling south to the swamp?"
OOC:
So as not to bog things down, what's Nekurr's main question for this guy? 1 Success will translate to one question he can answer. 3 Advantage are still on the table if you want to have a brief visit to Vizeron Dribbage's cell, but I don't want to spend too too much time there.

OOC:
Thanks, folks. We can move on to the journey once Nekurr and Nera have finished their inquiries. If Nera wants to scope out the taverns, we can abstract it out to a Streetwise check. But that will mean sacrificing the new armor, as I don't think there's enough time for both.

OOC:
I think we can speed up this bit as well:
The main question is of they have any mission (or any useful information as alternative) of the missing village area. If they have a mission we get a point of contact once we get there, which may be useful :D

Could I use the 3 adv to actually make them have a mission close to the village? Or maybe throw in a story point?
Alternatively, gaining regular access to Vizeron could work for later "quests" but for now it is a bit more "sentimental closure" and continuity from the last mission being, with Nekurr just being nice to the goatman :)

"Buzzards' Ford, Buzzards' Ford..." Bargretor seems to be chewing over the name in his mind. "I'm afraid I've never heard of the place," he says, eyes downcast. "The truth is that our order hasn't had much success in the southern reaches of the barony. Tamalir has so much influence down there; it's such a major city, you know." He pauses a moment, thinking things through a different angle. "But we do have a cathedral in Tamalir. It's not as grand as this one, but... Yes, let me write you a letter of introduction; if you need a bit of help down south, it might be useful to have friends a day's ride away rather than three days'."
OOC:
Having a church of St. Durvin in the village would require too much shuffling of the scenario to work. Hopefully getting a lead on friendly folks nearby is good enough!

Nahhhhh...I want the armor lol.
"But of course, have a lovely day." Nera snatches the paper, pocketing it. With her business concluded she decides to head back. If this brother is a problem there will be plenty of thugs to help us locate him.

Sounds good. That's the gambling village where the niece was from right? I guess she is still not talking with us
Nekurr back to base :)
