Chapter 1: Burnt Offerings

Xandak lauches a flurry of blows at G6, which the goblin fends of relatively well. Until a blow slips through right into his throat (7 damage). The goblin drops his weapon to clutch his broken throat and falls to the side to die slowly.

Malik rushes forward to grab the wounded human, dragging him away from the battle.

Seeing that they are quickly losing, the other two remaining goblins break away and run.

Malik looks over the downed human. "Are you ok? Any injuries?" he asks, as he checks over the person, getting out various salves.

" They keep running, it makes me suspicious when that many opponents run away. It makes me think they have something to run toward that makes them feel safer." Gongar scans the gate area trying to see if anything is lurking in the shadows. "Do you think there is a larger force that they are regrouping too?"

Noticing that Arktos is injured, "Let me check your bear for any foulness that dogs bite might have left behind." Gongar approaches slowly as to not startle the injured bear.
OOC:
Looking at the heal skill there isn't really a detect poison, so no skill check, maybe another perception check?

Nodding his assent, Urthask dismounts and keeps Arktos calm as Gongar looks the bear over. "Arktos and I thank you, master dwarf. We are honored to fight alongside all of you, though I do not yet know your names. I am Urthask, son of Galazur" then he adds, grimly, "I agree, when goblins scurry away, one chases them to their lairs to stamp them out. THis is what my father did. But I fear the threat has risen once more. I am concerned for brave Arktos. His wounds seem grave. And how fares the human?"

As the goblins run away, Xandak's adrenaline begins to wear off a bit and he feels the pain of his injuries a bit more intensely. Grimacing, he unwinds the long cloth strips around his left hand and begins wrapping his wound with it. He approaches Gongar and Urthask grimly and nods at the two of them once he is close enough. He also watches the Goblins' retreat, trying to see if there is a particular pattern to it; if they are retreating towards a specific place or if they are just scattering in fear.

He signs two gestures, {Source}, and {?} to Gongar with a worried expression on his face.

"Those who are wounded, my friend here is a healer, we have enough time to tend to ourselves before we need to worry about what else might be around" Daire will assist Malik as needed while the others watch for goblinoid presence.

"excellent strikes in battle, Urthask, son of Galazur. I'm know as Gongar and this strong silent type is Xandak Alaertos. You won't catch him saying much." Gongar gestures at Xandak as a way of introduction. "I don't see any filth in Arktos' wounds but we should bind them or heal them if he will allow."

Seeing Xandak's signing "Yes my friend we should worry about the source of the goblins but as this fine Dwarf has said we have enough time to tend to ourselves." I make soothing gestures at Xandak as I walk over and throw my arm around Daire. "As long as we are about introductions whats your name my friend."

The man on the ground winces as he twists to look at Malik, "Yeah, I'm alright. Little bastards caught me by surprise," he says and then coughs, "Name's Aldern Foxglove, thanks for pulling my backside out of the fire!" he finishes with a laugh.

To all appearances the goblins are merely fleeing, not regrouping for another attack.

Aktos appears to be fine, with no sign of infection in the wound.

Malik looks the man over, trying to determine if he's actually ok. "I'm glad to have helped Aldren. If you're actually ok, perhaps you can find a constable or city guard and let them know of what happened here? I must see to my companions." Malik makes sure the man stands before turning to the new warriors who stood by him. "My name is Malik. First, are any of you hurt?"
Apr 11, 2016 1:42 pm
To Gongar "my name is Daire, of the clan Brasstackle-slag, would you be willing to escort our friend here while we tend to the wounded?" daire looks to the ground, and then continues looking around for any wounded in the square that might need assistance, if he finds any he'll either help them get to Malik, or flag Malik to them, based on level of care needed.

"I am unhurt but Arktos is, despite friend Gongar's help. Unless one of you has healing magic I must take my companion to Daviren Hosk at the Goblin Squash stables." Urthask thinks for a moment and then he has an idea, "Hosk was the one who hunted the goblins before with my father's help. They say no one in Sandpoint hates goblins more than Hosk. Perhaps we would do well to enlist his aid, or at least seek his advice."

Malik simply nods and walks up to the steed. His thrush lands on his shoulder and he looks at the thrush on his shoulder, nodding to it. The thrush glows in a faint light, cawing out the word "heal". The light floats to Malik's outstretched hands and outward, finding and healing Arktos' wounds.

OOC:
So... if we wanted to find out where the goblins came from/are going, and why they attacked the town... is there someone in town we should talk to? Like a guard captain or something?

Also, Xandak only has 4 HP left.

As Malik finishes looking over the noble beast, his thresh caws again and flies over to Xandak, hovering just over him, with a strong caw you think almost sounds like "heal". Malik nods and comes over, and energy again flows from the thresh to Malik, this time over to Xandak.

OOC:
The is the sheriff, Belor Hemlock, if you're looking for a guard captain

Anyone have anything else they'd like to do before I advance the scene?
Apr 12, 2016 3:27 pm
"Belor Hemlock is a close friend of mine and my family, we could also seek his advice on dealing with the goblins or any other threats. Speaking with both Belor and Hosk, I think would be in our best interest."
OOC:
just wanted to let everyone know that I took Belor as an ally as one of my traits. Feel free to advance the scene.

You wander back into the main part of town where you are greeted warmly by Zantus and Sheriff Hemlock. After a short conversation you are advised that the goblins seem to be gone, at least for now. They don't seem to be reorganizing for another strike.

Hemlock apologizes, "I have to get back to work, see what we can salvage here. We'll have to catch up later," he says to Gongar.

A short while later, you are approached by a woman who names herself as Ameiko Kaijitsu, "I own the Rusty Dragon Inn," she says, "I'd like to offer you room and board for a week as thanks for helping out when we needed it."
OOC:
Anything else you want to do before you get some rest?

In addition to the Rusty Dragon, there is also the White Deer that you can stay at (though that one won't be free!)

"I must stable Arktos at the Goblin Squash, then I will meet you at the inn. I will speak with Hosk while I am there. You are welcome to join me."
Apr 13, 2016 3:25 pm
"I believe we will join you, it will be good to have an idea what Hosk thinks of the whole thing. What do you say my friend?" Gongar looks to Xandak for approval of the plan to visit Hosk before moving on to the Rusty Dragon.

Gongar and Urthask (and anyone else who may wish to be there) approach the Goblin Squash Stables. Hanging above the door is a picture of a horse trampling a goblin, further showing how much Daviren Hosk hates goblins. As you approach, a stable boy comes out and greets you kindly, promising to take good care of the great bear before leading Arktos away.

Daviren Hosk, proprietor of the stables, is waiting inside for you. He's an impressive man still, even at his age he is fit and keen-eyed. Inside of the building is rather plain, aside from the large bottle of brine which contains the preserved body of a goblin inside of it.

"Thought you'd probably got yourself into the fighting," he says as he looks over your dusty and bloody clothes, "Looks like you did pretty well too! But I'm sure you didn't come in just to visit an old friend of your father. What can I do for ya?"
