"I don't put a lot of faith in farmers turned militia guards if it looks rough I don't want them coming in here to hide in the hay..."

OOC:
Forgive the technical post. I'm hoping to cover a few likely options to save on time. Feel free to ignore these choices and come up with alternatives.

Somebox, I think you're in a separate room (and the figure you saw is out of sight now). But you can always narrate waking Hildar and Nekurr up if you want to make a break for it as a trio. No roll or anything to do that. Your combined Stealth check would be RPP + boost for darkness, but + 3 setbacks for silence, and for having to fool three targets (mayor and brother and guard; your roll includes timing your escape to avoid the guard's patrol). In this case, Nera is the primary roller, and Hildar and Nekurr provide boosts as assistance.

Going out the window will require some rope (or tying the bedsheets together?). Or just climb out and hope for the best. Easy (P) Athletics with a rope of some kind, Daunting (PPPP) without.

Or walk down the stairs and out the back door. In that case, add an additional setback for the additional distance. But the upshot is you don't need rope.

Sneak out the back door = YYY+BBB x RPP + BlkBlkBlkBlk.
Sneak out the window = YYY+BBB x RPP +BlkBlkBlk & Athletics: GG+BB x P (with rope) or GG+BB x PPPP without rope.
Bruv & Tronus: So straight-up sneaking away is it? Combined Stealth check: Hard, PPP. Boost for darkness, setback for the fact that there are two of them left awake. All told, GG+BB x PPP+Blk.

Just letting people know I'm still lurking/reading things. Fine with Hildar being asleep at the moment as I can't think of anything he'd be adding to the proceedings at this point (plus he wouldn't want to risk upsetting the mayor, he's a thoroughly nice chap after all :)

OOC:
Yes, Nera may want to wake her colleagues up. No need to roll anything to do so.

" Unfortunately Oi don't tink we 'ave much choice but ta hope dey're not cowards..."
OOC:
Gonna try to summon one of those bat-dog things, at a Range boost (forming overhead/out of sight), with the Ally adder.
Bruv directs the magical construct to go somewhere nearby (around a corner from the guards which he noted on the way in?), but out of sight, and to start digging around and making noise.

Rolls

Primal, Conjure +Range +Ally

6 Success, 2 Failure, 2 Threat

Total: 4 Success, 2 Threat

With exciting news to share Nera rushes as quietly as she can into Nekurr's room, patting him on the cheek a couple dozen times. "Nekurr. Nekurr get up, there's movement outside."
Sep 8, 2020 2:14 am
Nekurr is torn from his peaceful cat dreams by Nera's insistent voice. Even Hildar finds himself waking up, groggy, but having shaken the effects of the pipelead salad.
OOC:
Will use the 2 threat narratively.
Closing his eyes, Bruv focuses on the image of the weird "razorwing" creatures the people around here keep as pets. He calls upon the spirits of these swamps to call one such creature to his aid. Suddenly, the silence is shattered by the flap of leather-like wings overhead, as a razorwing swoops over the roof of the barn and lands somewhere out of sight. Bruv wills the creature to start digging around in the foliage, making a racket to draw the guards away.

Instead, he hears someone scream.

"What? No. Later" Nekurr turns around the bed trying to ignore Nera "Probably just Tronus snoring" he adds pointlessly as Nera persists. Once he finally wakes up, he looks at the catfolk "Shouldn't everyone be sleeping the Lady's dreams? Why would anything be outside?". His expression suddenly changes as he realizes the possibilities. "Spider pig is back!" he gasps in fear.

Hildar stirs and shakes his head trying to clear the fog that is currently clouding it Outside? What? he thinks to himself as he overhears Nera's words....
OOC:
Do we hear the scream?

OOC:
Re. hearing the scream: Not at this point. It was just 2 threat, so not enough to wake up the neighborhood. What happens next is up to Bruv and Tronus. And Nera did see that strange figure running by chez vous.

OOC:
Actually what happens next is up to the guards. Do they react to the scream?

I will cast Augment though in anticipation of an opportunity to sneak off...

Rolls

Augment, basic

3 Success, 1 Advantage, 3 Threat

Total: 3 Success, 2 Threat

Sep 8, 2020 5:11 pm
OOC:
2 Threat here = the spell won't take effect for one minute. Bruv's maintaining two spells now (the summon and the augment), so any actions until one is dropped will cost 2 strain.
After the cry, Bruv and Tronus pause for a moment while the Orc summons the courage of local spirits to guide him. Nevertheless, the spirits seem just out of reach, like they're coming to help but are having trouble making up the distance for some reason...

Galbernost stands up from his stool, stretches, and plods off in the direction of the sound, mumbling something about loose razorwings. One guard remains sleeping, while the other looks at Galbernost, shrugs, and returns to playing tic-tac-toe against himself in the dirt.
OOC:
Combined Stealth check: Hard, PPP. Boost for darkness. GG+BB x PPP; that bumps to GGG+BB x PPP after one minute.

"Spider-pig is dead." Nera's tone is rather dry, very much doubting Nekurr's assumption. She peeks out the window for any obvious movement. "Whatever it is I'm going to follow. You coming?"
Sep 9, 2020 7:29 am
Nekurr looks around the dark room. "Shouldn't we keep an eye on the mayor?" he tries suggesting mostly so he doesn't have to go to the cold dark outside. Though he is not willing to stay in the manor on his own either, given what may have happened to last tax collector...
OOC:
Will relunctanlty follow Nera...
Sep 9, 2020 2:07 pm
"You have to be awake in order to watch." Nera says to both sleepers. "If something weird happens you don't want miss it, whether it's here or somewhere else. Also I'm taking my bow."

OOC:
I'm about to just change my character name to Bruce... so sick of correcting it 😅
Bruv wills the conjured beast to try to menace and frighten anyone who approaches it, and to fly up to a low rooftop or branch to remain our of immediate harm's reach...

And then he tries to lead himself and the dwarf off into the night, and to the group's meeting place, hoping his distraction is enough.
OOC:
Gonna flip a Destiny.

I'd also like to argue for a Boost to the Stealth attempt, as it seems unlikely that the only thing going on - a snarling beast and a screaming person - isn't drawing a portion of the remaining guard's attention.

Rolls

Stealth, +Destiny+dark+Tronus assist

3 Success, 1 Advantage, 2 Failure, 3 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 2 Threat

Boost for distracted remaining guard?

1 Success

Total: 1 Success

Dates self by mentioning about the Movie: They call me Bruce

As seasoned investigators, Nera, Hildar, and Nekurr realize they have a few options: Either alert the mayor that there's a strange figure roaming the cropland by his farm, sneak out by the window to pursue it themselves, or go out the back door and hope the mayor doesn't notice.
OOC:
Repeating this from above for convenience: Going out the window will require some rope (or tying the bedsheets together?).

Bruv and Tronus see the remaining guard look over in the direction of the commotion and realize it's the perfect chance to sneak away. Tronus goes first, making for the back of the house. He then alerts Bruce Bruv when the coast is clear, and the Orc joins him on the opposite side of the house from Galbernost. Meanwhile, the summoned razorwing chitters from the eaves of the front of the house. But the voice they hear isn't Galbernost cursing the razorwing. It's Melchic Grimbly, one of the pageant losers, crying out in pain. "That thing nearly... Is it bad, Mr. Galbernost?"
OOC:
If y'all still want to go to the rendezvous point, we can do that. Just wanted to make sure you didn't overlook the significant of the scream, if it makes any difference to your plans.

OOC:
I vote rope.
