The guard looks to Tronus, then to Zymph, then to the others. "Skeeter..." he says, voice trembling, "why don't we all go to the manor and talk about this like civilized folk? I'd rather not have to tie you up till Mayor Wayland comes home..."

The guard looks to you for instruction.

Nekurr listens to Tronus with a strange attention, nodding all the time. It is obvious that the poison is very strong... "Yes! And the mayor? Where is he? Having some spidery fun with the weaver witch is it?"

Tronus pulls rope out of his bag until Nekurr makes a comment and his eye twitches, "Uh you really shouldn't throw out conjecture and by spidery fun uh... We need to get this one sober or off whatever he's on to get him to his normal state of tomfoolery... If he's off uh... improving his relationship with a villager she shouldn't talk about it... unless he's going to be walking around with spiders coming out of his oraface..." Tronus states being of the mindset a gentlemen doesn't talk about such things in public or boast.

There's no resistance from Zymph as you tie him up. "The mayor's at the gathering I toldja 'bout," the greasy man replies. "Don't know why you keep harping on about spiders or somthin'." He nods toward the weird bird masks. "We look like we care about spiders to you? If you'd stop tryin' to stop us from just mindin' our own business, I could take you to the party to see for yourselves."

So, are we continuing this talk in the field, or marching him to the manor? (He's not resisting physically, so we can just pick back up there. Is anyone examining the unconscious bodies? Are you tying them up, too? Trying to help them medically, as the guard has requested? (You get the impression the guard is cowed, but it's out of fear, not any sense of loyalty to you.)

"Little Jacy had a spider, incy spider, wincy spider. Jacy had a little spider... or was it a pig?" Nekurr starts to sing as Bruv reminds everyone about the pageant's winner. Then the half-catfolk turns to Skeeter "You got no mayor. You got no jacey. And you got no tax man. Liar Liar boats on fire!"

I was sure I had rolled vigilance on this guy at some point... If not, I'll do it now.

I'll also flip a SP for the luck of the Heroic Ability: Luck of the Goddess. Just seems like the place and time for visions. Anyone has ideas for the wuestion to ask and how to ask it? (I'll wait for this roll's result to do it)

GM edit: Re-rolling the difficulty (he's got Cunning 3, Deception 2), and adding two boosts: You're all likely to believe he's being deceptive, at least to a point.

I was about to remind you all that I'm not actively rolling Deception against you, so if you suspect an NPC is lying, you can always try Vigilance against them. (The downside to that is you open the door to Despairs, Threats, and the like.) And just to help with bookkeeping, it's probably not necessary for everyone to roll every time.

So, with the adjusted difficulty, that's a net total of 3 Successes.

"Take you?" He rolls his eyes. "Seems you all got me over a barrel here, so if it's a choice between leadin' ya there or listening to this old codger rant n' rave all night—" he nods toward Tronus. "—I'll take ya all right." Zymph pauses, as if mulling over the next bit. "The poison's just a sedative. Pipeweed extract or somethin'. Should work its way outta those two in an hour or so. They'll wake up at that point. Only injuries'll be the bruises from that Catwoman's arrows." He spits on the ground.

True... the vigilance result kind of threw me off on that one, so I'll have to rething that.

What yes/no answer should we get from the GM? anyone wants to suggest anything?

Ah, here's the guard's response:
The guard turns pale at the prospect of going with the group. "As for me... I'm not keen to go to some Night Creeper meeting even if it's just for laughs. Maybe I should... stay here and guard the manor?"

Is there any of the 'poison' left on the blades or anything? Just wondering if Hildar could try checking against Alchemy to see if Zymph's explanation of it holds up (no ranks in it but it is a career skill)

Hildar does see a bit of poison residue remaining on the confiscated blades. He also notices that each of the bird figures is carrying a couple of vials of liquid under their belt, one with a purplish liquid, the other with blue.
OOC:
Hildar can try to identify these with Alchemy: Let's say each vial requires a separate roll, both Hard (PPP), with two boosts--for knowledge of local customs and agriculture, and for having seen one of them in effect on Nekurr, who is indeed fighting sleepiness--and a setback for no equipment.

Tronus does indeed remember more of the same blue stuff in the mayor's pantry. With a bit more context, Hildar feels he may be able to take another crack at an identification...
