Hildar takes the fluid and begins to examine it....
OOC:
Right then, lets see what we can see....soooo, 9 advantages then.....well definitely going to use several of them to pocket the vials without anyone realises if that's ok, any left over to pass a boost or two about if we can leverage the knowledge of what's in the one vial I've identified in any way

Rolls

Alchemy vial 1

2 Success, 7 Advantage, 2 Failure, 3 Threat

Total: 4 Advantage

Alchemy vial 2

3 Success, 6 Advantage, 2 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 5 Advantage

OOC:
Sounds good. We can say 4 advantage to pocket all four vials without anyone noticing is about right. The other 5 can be used for some information to leverage against Zymph.
While everyone else is distracted trying to get a straight answer from the ferryman, Hildar uncorks the two vials and gives them each a shake and a sniff. Once he mulls them over for a bit, he replaces the corks and pockets them without the ferryman or guard noticing.

Ah, here's the guard's response:
The guard turns pale at the prospect of going with the group. "As for me... I'm not keen to go to some Night Creeper meeting even if it's just for laughs. Maybe I should... stay here and guard the manor?"
Nekurr looks very serious at the guard, almost as if having deep thougths about something highly complex. "Naaah, the mayor told you to keep an eye on us. We're going to hunt night birds and you're not creeping out"
OOC:
Not sure if this qualifies as Charm (3Y) ... but it looks like a roll. Leadership (3G) maybe?
I can point to GrumpyTronus to make it coersion (4G) :D

Also trying to guess his motivation, so there may be a couple of Bs

GM edit: Motivational setbacks...

Rolls

Charming ?

3 Success, 2 Advantage

Total: 3 Success, 2 Advantage

Leader ?

2 Success, 1 Advantage

Total: 2 Success, 1 Advantage

setbacks for Fear + confusion

2 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 2 Failure, 1 Threat

Oct 23, 2020 2:38 pm
OOC:
So, asking him to follow orders is Leadership, which looks like a fail with the additional setbacks (for fear and general confusion over whose orders to follow). Charm would be more like, "It'll be fun! And we need you to keep us safe!" or something. That roll would succeed, as Nekurr has Knack for It in Charm. If that's the approach, just edit Nekurr's dialogue, and I'll have him reply with a motivation, too.

Somethign like?
Nekuur looks at the scared villager "Come on! It's going to be a night to rememeber. Don't you want to have a story to tell your grandchildren?
Oct 23, 2020 3:34 pm
OOC:
His Fear is "I don't want to die tonight." :) He also feels an attachment to his co-villagers.

Hildar's got some information to share, but beyond that, you've got a few basic options now, I think: 1) Zymph reveals the location of the "hootenanny" and the guard takes you there as a red shirt, 2) or you get Zymph to take you there as someone more knowledgeable but also probably working at cross purposes to you, 3) or you go it alone and leave the guard to watch over the three Night Creepers.
The guard gives Nekurr a sheepish grin. "Look, I don't want to die tonight. Even if these Night Creepers ain't real, don't mean there ain't more out there that are! But if you can get Skeeter to tell you where to go, I'll escort you as far as I can, I guess... What do you propose we do with these three, though? I hate to see them left alone, especially injured..."
Oct 23, 2020 11:36 pm
Hildar is lost in thought for a few moments and then shakes himself and looks at Zymph "Tell me Mr Zymph, what do you really know about spiders? For someone who claims to be ignorant of such creatures you seem to be familiar enough to extract this from the creatures and as you are well aware this..." he gestures at the man with one of the vials full of a blue liquid "...is no sedative."
Oct 24, 2020 12:27 am
"You said it yourself, egghead. The purple one's the sedative. Blue one's the antidote." He furrows his brow in a look fo confusion. "And I ain't got no idea what you mean 'bout extracting it from spiders. The weaver gave it to us in case we had an accident with the purple stuff. So, we headed to the party or not? We're burnin' moonlight, folks."
Oct 24, 2020 12:34 am
Hildar stares at the man for a moment but then gives a frustrated huff before turning to the guard "Is there somewhere we can move them to nearby or would the mayors residence be best?"
Oct 26, 2020 1:58 pm
The guard looks around. "The manor's closest... Mayor Wayland probably keeps some healing herbs somewhere in there." He points back toward the direction Tronus and Bruv came from and continues. "The Galbernost place ain't too far. Just t'other side of the field. But they're probably dreaming of Nature's Lady by now. It's pretty late..."
Oct 26, 2020 3:53 pm
"So lets send a runner or two to look for herbs in the manor. If we find something that works we can escort them someplace after explaining the situation and them being tied up for their safety."
Oct 26, 2020 5:15 pm
Tronus is again reminded of the blue vials in the mayor's pantry; perhaps another item worth bringing along. Meanwhile, Zymph bursts out laughing. "You expect Paisley and Mirulda will tell you anything different? The poison should work its way outta'em in less'n an hour. They'll tell you no different that I 'bout the hoedown."
Oct 26, 2020 5:18 pm
OOC:
At this point, perhaps we can just come up with a plan, as you've soaked up about as much information as you're going to get from these three, save the actual location of the hootenanny Zymph is going on about. I just need to know:

1) Are you going to the "hootenanny"? If so, who do you want to guide you: Zymph, the guard, or one of the others (once revived, which entails waiting another half hour or so)?

2) Are you going to spend the fifteen minutes it'll take to grab the vials and herbs from the mayor's house?

3) Where are you leaving the people you aren't taking? In the manor? In the field? At Galbernost's place? And are you tying them up?

4) What's Nekurr's question for Fortuna? No one's proposed anything, but what's a big question you have about the situation that the goddess might help clear up?
Oct 27, 2020 12:34 am
OOC:
1) Hildar would be leaning towards Zymph taking us and leaving the others in the care of the guard.
2) Easy either way on this one.
3) Well Hildars thinking for the 'prisoners' is to get them somewhere safe and comfortable, probably the mayors house, and leave them sleeping for now. He could probably rouse them with the stimulant/antidote but he doesn't think it would be a great idea to have more potential enemies running about needlessly at this stage.
4) Only thing I can think of would be are the villagers bad but that would largely be subjective depending on your definition of 'bad' so may not help overly

perfect. Tronus can work very well with that :D
"What we do with them" Nekurr considers "Give them the blue spider goo!". He smiles. He has no clue what it is, but if Skeeter is lying, that will be fun. "Yes eggelf, I don't trust boatman here, he ... he ..." Nekurr looses track of what he was saying for a moment. "Yeah, boats. Don't trust them." He suddently looks very confused. "Paisley and Mirulda? Are those spiders? Why are you taking blue drinks from the evil spider lady?"

"Even for him this is odd... you people are eating spider shite? I'm hoping it's shite and not something else... " Tronus mutters frowning, "We do need to come to a head before this all goes sideways though..." he adds eyeing the sickle in his hand.

Offering a summary of what I think the consensus plan was. Advancing further than here may have to wait till next week, as I'm under several deadlines IRL.
Zymph doesn't offer any resistance as you force him to the manor. Tronus and Bruv are able to hoist the two costumed women over their shoulders and carry their bodies—now known to be sleeping—to the mayor's place.

A quick search of the place reveals that both the mayor and his brother are missing, their chambers empty. The most secure spot to tie up the two women seems to be the wooden posts holding up the balcony at the top of the stairs, and with a couple of coils of rope, Nekurr sees that it's done. As the Half-Catfolk works, he says something about wishing you all knew whether the villagers were hiding some dark secret about their Founder's Festival. One of the two captives stirs, as if in a dream, and mutters, "Which villagers, dear?" Nekurr tries to determine if the woman has awakened, but she seems to be sound asleep.

Tronus returns to the pantry and finds the blue vials where he left them. The mayor seems to have two vials of the antidote, along with a bundle of healing herbs. A second bundle of herbs hangs over the fire in the kitchen. There's no sign of the purple poison anywhere, though.

With the village guard nervously seated on a high-backed chair, Zymph grins. "Away we go, ladies and gentlemen."
OOC:
Any further prep before you follow Zymph? Are you leaving him and his companions in their robes, for instance?
Oct 29, 2020 2:34 pm
"Not so fast, Nera search the women please. Zymph this way and strip. Or I can help you. Don't want you falling on another vial of poison... I mean sedative cus we'll have to leave you on the path to your fates." Tronus states, "Also when we get back I expect them to still be detained Sir." he adds directed to the guard.
