OOC:
Dead??? can advs or a SP avoid that? :D

A dead mayor doesn't look good on the record...

and... did I just shapeschange dramatically for nothing? :'(
OOC:
If someone wants to use Heal or Medicine on him before the end of the round, he might be saved. But everyone's been using lethal force on him, so he's dead otherwise, I'm afraid.

As for the shapeshif... Not wasted at all! Were-Nekurr is around for the next several rounds, right? So time for you all to figure out where the mayor was trying to run off to. Indeed, were-Nekurr sees the glow of a bonfire somewhere north of the house, through some tall reeds just past where the mayor's body lay motionless...
The scarecrow that's still around takes another swipe at Hidar! This time, the Elf isn't so lucky, and the claws rake across his chest, putting the Elf into a daze...
OOC:
PC is up!
OOC:
3 advantage = crit. Rolling...

64: Slightly Dazed (PP): Target is disoriented until the Critical Injury is healed. (+1 setback to all checks)

OOC:
So, just a reminder: There's a scarecrow in the kitchen, engaged with Hildar. Nera, Tronus, and Bruv are short range to it. Were-Nekurr is in the back doorway, where he sees a field of high, rotting corn and the glow of a bonfire in the distance. Skeeter Zymph seems to have come to, but is still on the ground toward the front door of the sitting room.

2 PCs are up. Go!

OOC:
Ok, going to not Concentrate this round immobilized means I couldn't have of I wanted to, meaning my Assignment will end at the end of this turn.

And will use a Maneuver to Aim, and Action to carry an Attack spell at the scarecrow.

Primal pool:YYGGG+G, Augment+B, Aim+B, SIR v. P+PP(Empowered)+KK, Darkness I don't see where it has Adversary or Defense listed in Status spoiler so hope this is right...

Forgot I was immobilized, can't Aim, so that meets a Threat.
Still bound to the frame Bruv unleashes a blast of primal energies at the scarecrow!
OOC:
GM edit: upgrading first purple to red, as it's engaged with Hildar.

Hildar, head spinning from the attack and the fear flooding his system levels his wand at the scarecrow and mutters Ignis......
OOC:
Trying for an Attack Spell with the Fire Additional effect (given it's made mostly of straw he's hoping this is a sound choice)

Difficulty is base of Easy, +1 P for the Additional Effect. There are also a total of 5 x K (2 for Fright, 1 for the Crit, 2 for the darkness). Skill is YYYG with 2 x B (1 for SIR and 1 for using a maneuverer to Aim). Total pool is YYYGBBPPKKKKK

Well, his Heroic is still up (last for 3 of his actions with the Ability Points he's spent on it) so I'll cancel the P die with the Failure and Threat on it which should make this check come out at 1 x Success for a total of 8 Damage (3 for the wand, 4 for Intellect, 1 for the success). I'll also be using the Brilliant Casting Talent to add 2 x Advantages to the check which will trigger the Burn quality so it will take another 8 damage at the start of it's next two turns

OOC:
I swapped one purple for a red on Bruv's check, as the scarecrow was engaged with Hildar. Likewise, Hildar needs to suffer 2 strain to take a maneuver to disengage the scarecrow if he wants to attack it without a close-combat penalty.

Regarding Ensnare: I may be ruling incorrectly on this, but I think with the mayor dead, Bruv is free of his ensnarement. I guess I can see a GM ruling that it lasts as long as it lasts, but I already narrated the scaffolding falling apart, so we can say Bruv's free.
Bruv senses some of the spirits he previously communicated with in a state of revelry, as if they feel they may be able to reclaim control of this territory once again. It doesn't take much to convince several of them to rip through the scarecrow with eldritch energy! The creature buckles as if under assault from invisible forces. Suddenly, it's hit by a jet of flame form Hildar's wand, which catches it aflame! The abomination falls to its side, kicking and flailing like a burning windmill until it becomes a pile of smoldering cinders...
OOC:
Y'all made short work of him!

Skeeter Zymph gets to his feet and manages to open the front door...

Nera follows Nekurr outside. "What in Mennara..."
OOC:
PC is up. Not much to do but recapture Zymph if you want to. Then we can leave structured time.

OOC:
Just to put a finer point on the situation:

1) The weaver, Anzila, is still out cold in her cage, and was, according to the mayor, the preferred sacrificial victim. But he intimated there is backup.
2) Nera and Nekurr see what is presumably the rest of the ceremonialists somewhere through a thick field of rotting corn, north of the house. They are presumably awaiting the return of the mayor and his Night Creeper minions—with the weaver.
3) Kellis Isle's body lies dead in the decrepit house's kitchen, where it was being consumed by spiders. It is not secure in any real way.
4) Skeeter Zymph, who was evidently sent by the weaver to fetch "the boy," is now making a run for it, albeit while still tied up.

We're still in structured time until you apprehend Zymph. Then we can go into unstructured time and do strain recovery rolls.

Jan 27, 2021 5:37 pm
OOC:
If we have someone that's good at Leadership, they should go after Zymph and command him to stop, pointing out that if we wanted him dead, he would be dead... Bruv will give physical chase on a later turn, but if we could de-escalate the situation (Zymph has no idea what has transpired since he went out), would probably be best now...
Jan 27, 2021 6:07 pm
OOC:
That sounds like a job for Tronus, especially since Nekurr is currently a character from the video game Rampage.

Another thought: It seems we've lost Somebox, so y'all can leave Nera behind to guard captives and bodies if you'd like. That would simplify things.
Jan 28, 2021 1:06 pm
"You really want to run now? Is that really in your best interests? When we were going to get attacked by these sacks of straw and the robed ones when we tried to pull you to safety what happened? They attacked one of ours who was trying to protect you versus trying to save you? Are you really this shameless... And I don't feel like running you down if I don't have to... cus then I'll have to carry you back." Tronus states following behind the escaped one.
OOC:
Let me know the roll.

3 advantage. Thoughts?
"Why should I trust you folks? Look what you did to Anzila!" Zymph hops out onto the porch.
OOC:
PC is up. Words didn't work, so you can try force or magic. He's now at medium range to people in the kitchen, and he has concealment from the doorframe and darkness: +3 setbacks on ranged attacks against him.
Jan 29, 2021 3:45 pm
OOC:
It'll have to be Bruv or Hildar, as Nera and Nekurr are on the opposite side of the house.
Jan 29, 2021 4:14 pm
OOC:
Well... he can't have much Strain yet, wasnt there long enough to have a full recovery. So, I'll maneuver to Short, Attack spell (P) plus Stun (+P). I'm assuming moving to Short/getting to the door removes that cover Setback?
Bruv takes after the hill-billy, and mutters a sleep spell as he does...
OOC:
FFS... I'll recover Strain with my Advantage, I guess we never spent Tronus', maybe I'll take a Boost from that? :P

Well, if that stands, that's 6 Strain.

Tronus might behoove the situation if the dwarf takes an immediate Free Maneuver with his other two boost?

Zymph snorts and shakes his head furiously as he fights the effects of sleep. But then he falls to his knees and then his side. He starts snoring from the overgrown porch.
OOC:
Yeah, Bruv should get a boost from Tronus SIR, plus Tronus had enough advantage on his check to provide another. Once those are added in, you may have more strain you can recover.

We're out of structured time now. Everyone can try Cool or Discipline for strain recovery. Also a good time to use any strain-recover talents you may have (or items).

Bruv puts his hands on his knees, relieved that the pursuit didn't have to continue... Between his fight with the Creepers, and the Mayor, and Scarecrow, he had been pushed to the edge. He takes a moment and tries to regain his breath.
OOC:
Yup... that tracks with how the rolls have been going.

Gonna do a Heal Spell too...
He goes down on a knee and whispers an incantation, trying to draw on the strength of the earth...
OOC:
Welp, Wounds are gone. Still severally Strained.

Is it just me, or is the Heal Spell kind of broken, in that you can very easily end up causing Strain damage to yourself while trying to Heal?
