"I....I need some air...." Hildar says as he backs away from the remains of the scarecrow and stumbles out of the small house. As he gets outside he takes a deep breath and tries to steady his nerves.

OOC:
Hildar should have taken 7 damage (-Soak) when hit by the scarecrow. I think I failed to note that, but it did hit him.
Nera motions toward her fellow Catfollk as Hildar joins her outside. "Something happened to Nekurr! Did the mayor do something to him?" She glances back toward the house. "And what are we doing with the bodies in the house? I have a feeling that light up ahead is not good news, but we can't leave that woman all by herself with Isle..."
Jan 31, 2021 10:03 pm
Hildar takes a few breaths and begins to feel better. As Nera mentions the light his face hardens a touch "Yes, we need to deal with that. Is someone ok to linger here and keep an eye on the weaver and the other.....witnesses?"
OOC:
Have noted the damage now (was 5 after soak)

I have no strain :( just wounds so no need to be cool
Nekurr keeps running uop to the mayor and starts sniffing him.
OOC:
So, is the mayor dead for good or is a medicine still possible? I mean, my medicine is YY so... I'd fail anyway
He grabs the mayor's corpse and shakes it, crushing a few extra ones before looking at the far away light. Anyone looking notices that Nekurr is getting ready to run away and follow whatever the mayor was looking for

That was the right difficulty. If Hildar assists, that nets you 2 greens extra. But I'm not sure Hildar would go assist a giant were-tiger sniffing over the mayor!
Nera looks toward the tiger-creature. "What is it doing?" Then she turns to Hildar. "I can guard the house if you want to run stop whatever that is out there... Or chase that thing away from the mayor's body..."
OOC:
Leaving it to you all. She's good in a fight and good at sneaking up, but you probably don't have time to dilly-dally with stealth at this point. That might make her a convenient guard over the condemned home.

OOC:
Yea, I think we background Nera here.
Bruv calls out to his comrade, "Oi, Mera! Skeeter is down out 'ere! Come git 'im too?!", then heads off toward the light to the north, becoming more cautious as he draws near...
OOC:
Can I cast another Heal Spell? Or is this a situation where my one check was my best effort to heal my Strain type of thing?
Feb 1, 2021 9:38 pm
"This report is going to be long..." Tronus grumbles and he field marches off to trouble and possible violence.
Feb 1, 2021 9:45 pm
"I.....I'm not sure. I don't think I want to know" Hildar says in response to Nera "I'm going to investigate that light with Tronus and Bruv." he then gives her a nod and runs off after the others taking care to give the strange cat monster thing a wide berth.
OOC:
Yeah Hildar would definitely steer clear lol

OOC:
So, you shouldn't be able to heal your strain with magic—only wounds. Is that what you mean? (I mean, spare advantage can be used to recover strain, but the raw spell only heals wounds or critical injuries.) That said, I looked around, and the devs have ruled that you can indeed spam heal yourself or others. The only limiting factor is how much strain you have to spare.

Everyone outside, you see the unmistakeable sign of a fire in the distance. Presumably this is where the mayor's fellow... worshippers are. Nera starts toward the house. "If they have magic, you lot had better handle 'em. I'll watch the weaver and her hick friend."

You estimate that only an hour or so remains before dawn. Pushing through that corn is going to take some time... time which you may not have.
OOC:
So any ideas for recon? You can interrogate Zymph, try some magic, or just try a Hard (PPP) Knowledge (Geography) or (Adventuring) check (with 2 setbacks for darkness) to find the quickest way through the corn if you want. And are you re-masking yourselves as cultists? Or just going in as yourselves?

I guess I have only been looking at the community made Spell Card cheat sheet things, but it says net Advantage recovers Strain... which I guess isn't a special rule as you can spend Advantage on any check to recover Strain so that makes sense. But that's where the question came from.

As for spamming Heal, I have no more Wounds, so if the Spell isn't intended to be able to heal Strain by virtue of its natural function, it would be be very meta (generating a skill check to try to generate Advantage), so I'll probably not do that as I wouldn't appreciate a player doing that if I were GM.

If people are down a lot of strain still let me know so I can start targeting you once things start.

OOC:
Yes, Tronus is your resident strain healer. :)

Let me know what you plan to do regarding Mask spell (or not) and recon (or not).
Feb 3, 2021 9:08 am
OOC:
If we're thinking time is key Hildar wouldn't really consider Mask to be a viable option.
Hildar scans the terrain trying to pick the best way to get to the source of the fire in the darkness....."I think....yes, this way" he says to the others as he starts leading the way
OOC:
Shouldn't have rolled the Setbacks due to Knack for it so that's 1 x Success and 2 x Advantages. Can the advantages be for us to approach in a discrete direction (either make it easier for us stealthing or harder for them spotting us)?

"Alright so what's the plan, distraction and someone fast gran the sacrificed?" Tronus asks following Erathnir since he was leading.

OOC:
I added two boosts to Hildar's check, as well, since this is a situation where everyone is probably working together to find the best path. Let's say 2 advantage lets you find a position where you're harder to detect, while 2 more give you some high ground in case things go south (adding up to a boost on attacks from the high ground as long as you maintain it).
When it fails to attack, it soon becomes evident that the tiger-thing must be Nekurr. Thinking the way forward lies through the corn, then, HIldar does his best to ascertain a path toward the fiery glow. At first, the smell of overripe corn and rot is nearly nauseating. But with the others helping, the Elf soon picks up some faint foot trails in the corn, which then lead to a well-worn path that follows a somewhat circuitous route through the corn, but one that isn't particularly difficult to progress through.

As the glow and crackle from a small bonfire grow, the area is otherwise silent. It's eerie. Not even the croaks of frogs or the chirps of insects punctuate the quiet. Eventually, Hildar notices that the path is about to spill out into a clearing—presumably where the mayor's fellow ritualists are—so HIldar thinks to zig into the high corn for a few dozen meters. To his delight, this off-road side trip also leads up onto a small hill. Pushing up to the edge of the corn, then, you are able to get a good look at what is happening in the clearing. And if things go south, you at least have the high ground.

What you see is just as eerie as the silence. About a dozen figures in Night Creeper robes are kneeling, sickles on their laps, in a circle around the fire. With their masks on, it's unclear if they're meditating, praying, sleeping, or something else. Jacey Tabbins, the winner of the pageant stands to the opposite side of the clearing from you in a white gown, with two more Night Creepers flanking her, sickles held loosely at their sides. She doesn't seem to be in any distress, and instead stares placidly toward the fire. Some sort of stone-slab table lies between her and the rest of the group.
OOC:
So, I'm guessing you want to stay hidden? Hildar's your sneakiest member now that Nera's at the house, so he can roll GGG + 5 Blue for concealment, assistance, and darkness. Difficulty is RRP.
Feb 4, 2021 12:11 am
Hildar gestures for the others to keep low as the maneuvre themselves.....
OOC:
Anyone got any ideas for the advantages? I’m thinking we may pick up on some other details at the least, maybe spotting a route from up here that someone could approach to short range of Jacey and not be seen?

How in control of himself is Nekurr? He's not like, "raging", or anything is he?

For the Advantage, yea notice a significant detail could be really handy, narrative and/or mechanical bonus(es) to us getting closer would also be clutch... For a chunk of the 6 Advantage, couldn't we just extend the "duration" of our Stealth check to cover an approach?
Bruv exhales grimly. Even if it was pretty much what he'd expected, it made the situation no less angering...

He mutters low to his companions, "Wot's our best shot? Conjure an earthen barrier to keep Jacey from harm? Make 'er invisible? Try to destroy the altar?"
Feb 4, 2021 1:48 am
OOC:
The Shapeshifter talent leaves the character in charge of their faculties, so how he roleplays that is up to CESN, I think. Using his frightening (and supernatural) appearance to your advantage could be helpful, depending on what kind of plan you come up with.

I think extending your stealth's effects for an approach to Jacey is good; probably worth 2 advantages per person who wants to use that. If it's just one or two of you, you could notice some pertinent details with the rest.

Nekurr sniffs the air and, seeing the others move into the corn field, he follows them from a distance
OOC:
Best RP way to keep nekurr quiet :D
