OOC:
The bear remained behind when she vanished. Sorry for not being clear.

After thinking about the situation for a moment, Trey again knells beside D'ohcia's body and picks up the singed stuffed bear she had been carrying since they had gotten off the tilt-a-whirl ride. "This may help us find our tormentor. I had all but forgotten it in our rush to find the missing children. The ghost of a little girl gave this to us to help remind the terrible person who is behind all this who he once was."

Mose looks at the singed toy and sighs, "It still won’t help us find him."
OOC:
Which places have we not yet explored?

OOC:
You haven't gone to the pie-eating contest, the strength tester, or the roller coaster, and there are other attractions deeper in the mists.
Jul 27, 2021 10:38 am
Rodolf looks around, his eyes fall on the strength tester. "That looks kind of harmless....right?".
OOC:
My guys will go to the strength tester

As our numbers dwindle, Trey and his two buddies stay with the group and join those going toward the strength tester.

After carrying Fern's body out of the mirror maze, Grimm and Doc notice the others heading for the strength tester and begin to follow along, a solemn pall hanging over them.

A shallow but sturdy wooden box lies on the ground here, a square metal plate mounted on its surface. The plate has clearly taken a hammering in its lifetime, pitted and scarred by repeated blows by some blunt object. Another metal arm connects the prone box to a larger wooden structure that rises twenty-five feet into the mists, crowned by a large iron bell. A square lump of lead is attached to a metal rod that runs all the way up to the bell. The wood surface behind the rod is painted with numbers and categories ranging from "Babies can hit harder" on the very bottom to "Strongest in the land!" at the very top. A large wooden mallet is propped against the upright structure. A squat oak closet with shuttered doors sits off to one side. Music echoes from within and scenes of toys and prizes are painted along the sides.

Marand looks around and seeing no one else step up to the plate, he grits his teeth and with a look of steely determination he grabs the mallet.

"Go on lad" says Grimm, fists clenched and with a look of rapt suspense on his face...

Marand grabs the mallet and lifts it over his head, swinging it in a wide arc.
OOC:
I assume that you are trying to strike the platform? Make a Luck check, please, followed by a Strength check.
Aug 12, 2021 3:36 pm
Marand takes a deep breath and swings the mallet down towards the platform.

OOC:
Sorry for the delay. It's been busy here.

The striker shoots up the pole at incredible speed, striking the bell with a resounding tone. The oak closet opens, revealing a matched set of three darts.

Rolls

Prize closet - (1d30)

(22) = 22

Aug 30, 2021 7:30 pm
Marand breathes a sigh of relief and goes to grab and inspect the darts.

As soon as Marand has collected his prize, the doors slam shut. The darts appear finely made and well-balanced.

"Those look fine indeed, but still no sign of our host."

Grimm casts about in desperation, his eyes searching for an attraction that looks more promising than the boardwalk games.

"Perhaps further in to the circus? Deeper into the mist I know, but none of this seems likely."

A look about the area reveals several looming shapes; a large tent of some sort straight ahead from which whimsical music flows and to your left, the mist begins to part, revealing a previously shrouded large construction. A giant wooden jester head rises fifty feet into the mists above, its mouth frozen in mid-laugh. A wide section of highly polished pink wood slopes steeply down from the mouth to the ground, ending in a pile of velvet pillows. Halfway down the ramp, glowing keys dangle from a cord that hangs in the air from both sides. A sign on the side of the structure depicts children laughing as they ride the ramp down. Some hold keys they grabbed along the way. Further ahead in the distance, you can see a massive structure that looks like the skeleton of some gargantuan beast.

"Well if that isn't a sign I don't know what is."

Flash and Doc exchange grim looks and then proceed toward the looming jester head...

Trey waves Uni and Percy forward with him, as he joins the others heading toward the huge head of the fool.
