1 pole and 3 lines latch onto the railings and crates, anchoring the two boats together. As the lines are being tied off one of the pirates is cut down by the captain and the line kicked free. The pole appears to be chained to the boat and its hook is biting deep into your vessel wooden railing anchoring the boats about 4 feet apart and diminishing.

Don't want to risk getting our boat on fire.

Fable douses the torch, then tries to kick the hook to free the boat.
OOC:
Is it okay to add a roll, if its needed or do you prefer us rolling when you tell us?

Rolls

Fable: Test DC: 5 - Basic (Free the boat) - (2d6)

(24) = 6

Mar 2, 2023 1:19 pm
The other crew of your boat struggle to get to boat free trusting the two massive poles to keep the pirates at bay for the moment.
OOC:
You can roll any time. with Play by Post it speeds things up to have rolls in advance just in case and those I dont need will be ignored and if it affect you or is wildly impossibly I will just et you know
@Miss_Sadie Meep is up
Mar 3, 2023 1:54 pm
Meep knows he can't kick the boat free, strength is not his forte. He quickly scurries as high as he can before searching the other boat for the men that are currently important to the other crew. Perhaps if...he shot one he would delay them. So he tries.
OOC:
hey, sorry this was a bit slower. Having a hectic week @_@

I included an adv roll and a no adv roll as I think he has adv on ranged attacks from hia proficiency but, as this system is very new to me, I could be wrong. It was easier for me to just roll both at this moment than to try and look it up.

Rolls

Finding target - (2d6)

(61) = 7

To hit target with a bow (adv) - (3d6)

(344) = 11

To hit target with bow (no adv) - (2d6)

(32) = 5

Mar 3, 2023 4:50 pm
Meep spots one man on the other boat who is shouting orders at the others. A bit bigger and meaner looking he also proves more experienced as he spots Meep raising the bow and ducks behind a crate avoiding the arrow shot his way.
OOC:
Just 1 roll is fine. If you are unsure roll the extra dice and I can just ignore any that dont apply and let you know.
In this case you roll 2d6 as you are proficient with the ranged weapon. Once you master the bow it will advance to 3d6. The system normally starts you with 1 mastered weapon but I don't do this for any character at the start. You will gain mastery of your weapon and your 3rd trait if you stick around a while.

With the pole and 2 lines in place the pirates move to board while Hank and his two stout lads lay about in defense. The ropes and pole are hacked at by half of the crew and the others push their oars to try and keep the boat moving.

Since Pirates are already on our side Fable will pull out their rapier and attack the closest pirate.

(12) = 3

Mar 3, 2023 9:11 pm
Few, shouldn't have drank so much with the crew. Thinks Fable as the rapier only finds thin air.
Mar 5, 2023 9:45 am
Fable tires to ready for incoming attacks and evades.

Two more pirates cross to your boat but one is quickly knocked overboard while the other is stabbed by Hank. Unfortunately one of the boatmen takes a spear as he tries to remove one of the ropes. Fortunately another of the boatmen manages to wrench the pole free of the railing and the remaining 2 lines pull tight but hold for now.
As chaos fills the two boats Hank roars Cut those last two lines glancing upriver at the two approaching pirate boats.
Mar 8, 2023 4:28 pm
Fable takes a moment to focus and then tries to cut the closest rope with their rapier.

Rolls

Fable: Test DC: 4 - Basic - (2d6)

(62) = 8

Mar 9, 2023 2:37 am
As Fabe moves up to he waits for the oportune time and slices the rope as it is pulled tight. With only one rope left the boats begin to spin as the boatment continu rowing on the far side of th boat.
Mar 10, 2023 3:26 pm
Meep sees he isn't hitting anything this way and that there is only one tether left he changes his tactic. He tucks his bow away and lifts off, flying to land right by the rope. Being small and a bit panicked, he chooses to peck and tear at the rope with his beak in an attempt to break enough it will snap - or he dislodges it.

Rolls

Attack the rope - (2d6)

(45) = 9

Mar 10, 2023 5:30 pm
The rope snaps under Meep's pecking aid to the struggling boatmen and the boats surge apart stranding 3 pirates with the crew. The now separate barge flounders a few feet off and it's pirates move to toss more grapples onto your boat. Meanwhile on your boat the three pirates move to get to the rudder but are blocked by Hank is his two brawny enforcers.

Rolls

grappling hooks - (2d6)

(51) = 6

Pirate attacks - (3d6)

(224) = 8

2d6 : (43) = 7

Boatmen maneuvers - (3d6)

(146) = 11

Mar 10, 2023 5:34 pm
A hooked line lands on the boat while the three attackers and stoutly beaten back, but not out, by Hank and the boys. With the immediate threat being handled the boat surges as oars on both sides turn the boat back down stream. The singe line tied to the other barge hinders your escape as the two canoes move to surround your boat and will be on you in mere moments.
