Pira is visibly excited by the introductions and is about to ask Kurumi whether she is an idol or royalty or both when yet another interruption occurs - and this time a fire hazard, no less! At this point she is starting to really question where the grandmaster gets his budget to rebuild the temple after each... whatever is happening right now. An impromptu tournament? An unwarranted assassination attempt? Insurance scam? They didn't even have a proper introduction sequence until just now; the gall!

"Look, grandpa, I'm always up for a good brawl, but your motley band is starting to get annoying!" Piranha glares at Sheng Long and the eight cronies, then flips her ponytail to the side. "Fine, you wanna mess with me and these three gals I don't really know but already like, you better be prepared to be bitten! In a bad way!"

She pauses, then side-eyes the ninja still sitting in the cage next to her. "...And you better sit put, I'm not interested in dealing with a stage hazard today; besides, those are cheap. Like grabs."
OOC:
Whoops, rolled too many. Same result either way.

Kurumi starts moving graciously to avoid the flames. Is she dancing?

Rolls

anti-hero to avoid the flames - (1d6)

OOC:
Damage from fire is -🩷 and -❤️, and let’s have Kurumi’s dance be the distraction that lets heroes attack first.
The villains are surprised to see their biggest target dodging easily! They make a tight formation, as if ready to talk things out—but as Kurumi gracefully dances out the flames on her shoes, the nunchuck guy takes a swing.

"Not cool, Mikey! I had a whole monologue ready to go. Now I gotta save it for when we send these ladies TO THE ALLIGATOR PIT…"

Sheng Long’s men give him a horrified stare.

"…where you will feed heads of cabbage to the vegan alligators," he groans. "Alligators these days." He raises his fist and commands his minions: "KNOCK THEIR SOCKS OFF!!"
OOC:
Each of you have two opponents coming at you, but you get the feeling that a single hit from your attack would knock one out. You can’t get to Sheng Long by rolling an attack, unless you roll a combo. (Narrate how you take down a minion and hit him.) A super combo gets you to Sheng Long without the risk of being ganged up on (since it means you take down both of the minions that are in your face). Roll HERO to attack. 3d6-HERO to attack with the spiked club.

Wallflower and Hypno Dance may hinder more than one minion, even from a single hit. Roll 3d6-SPRITE to cast these special spells, if you choose to. 2D6-SPRITE can be used for a move that will keep your current foes busy. (But if you don’t combo, one of them will be able to attack you.)

Pira’s rage is @ 🔥🔥 from getting burned.

"HWAAAH!" Thundra shouts as she swings her big club in a broad arc, bowling over both of the unfortunate mooks trying to charge at her!

Rolls

Hero 5 - (3d6)

(651) = 12

May 16, 2024 1:05 pm
OOC:
Is there any reason I would t cast the special spells?
May 16, 2024 7:34 pm
Pira takes off into a run, charging straight at the two fools who decided to target her! She swings at one with her clawed gloves, attempting to slice their ninja-esque attire, and maybe also defeat the other by sheer intimidation factor. "Wrong threat, Sheng Long, I've been getting along with alligators ever since I was two! You better hope that I don't meet them, because otherwise you'd be fresh out of alligator allies very soon!"

Rolls

Hero 4 - (2d6)

(35) = 8

Kurumi still dances, trying to get around the flames and the goons.

Thundra KO’s both of her foes with a single CRACK of her ‘bat!’ Kurumi dances past her own opponents—and both heroines are closing in on Sheng Long!

The elderly master assesses the threats, and decides that the larger woman has the mightiest blows, but the dancer has uncanny defensive skills. She is not to be underestimated!

Sheng Long unleashes a flurry of hadoukens!!!
OOC:
Thundra, this guy ain’t fooling around. Roll 3d6 Anti-Hero to fend off an impossible amount of fiery projectiles!

Kurumi, same, but you only roll 1d6 Anti-Hero because you played the Hypno Dance on the jukebox. Until you cast the Hypno Dance spell (or until the song ends), your defensive roll is 1d6 (to your advantage).

Both of you may strike by rolling Hero or perform a different action after rolling Anti-Hero.
Pira takes out one foe. The other attempts a combo attack!
OOC:
Pira, roll 2d6 Anti-Hero to defend yourself.

Hit him back by rolling Hero!

NOTE: if the enemy hits you with a COMBO, your Rage meter will be full, allowing you to opt for a 4d6 attack roll.
Pix is still keeping two of the ninjas at bay! They aren’t used to opponents who can fly!
OOC:
Pix, I’ll hold off on your corner of the ring until you post your action.
May 20, 2024 7:17 pm
Pix sees more danger than she is used to, and so is going to let the wand guide her magic, casting Wallflower.

Rolls

Sprite 2 - Stronger - (3d6)

(131) = 5

May 20, 2024 7:22 pm
"Hot! Too hot!" Thundra shouts in pain as the fireballs burn her bottom!

Flowers grow all about Pix’s opponents! The guy in the cage shakes his head and at the men trapled with him behind the aromatic barrier.

As the last few petals fall from the wand, rather than wither, it starts to glow. Like a phoenix, the seemingly expended Flower Wand blazes with renewed life—as a Fire Flower!
OOC:
Pix, you have Faerie Fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥, and you may roll 4d6 Hero to attack.
[ +- ] Faerie Fire
Thundra, ouch! that attack hurt, but you can hit back!
May 20, 2024 7:52 pm
"Fight fire with Thundra!" Thundra shouts as she swings her club at Sheng Long!

Rolls

Hero 5 - (3d6)

(253) = 10

May 21, 2024 1:41 pm
"Not so fast mister...mister...MISTER!" says Kurumi as she forgot the name of the boss and casts Hypno Dance to help the other girl.
OOC:
Note from the GM: that’s a miss on the defense, and a Super Combo on the action.

Rolls

anti-hero - (1d6)

(2) = 2

Hypno Dancer - (3d6)

(643) = 13

May 21, 2024 6:09 pm
Pira grins at the ninja attempting a combo attack - finally, someone who's doing things her way! Not very successfully, as she easily ducks out of the way, but she appreciates the effort nevertheless. Which means that the opponent deserves a meeting with her famous Piranha Swing attack!

"You show him, Thunder Abs and Dancing Royalty!" She cheers between fighting off the black-clad cronies. "For the alligators!"

Pira clobbers her remaining opponent! Thundra unleashes barbarian heck on Sheng Long! He’s about to retaliate with his famous Cheap Punch, Cheap Punch, Turbo Uppercut combo—

—but Kurumi and two back-up-dancing ninjas are more than the boss can bear! Like his minions, Sheng Long is spiral-eyed from hypnosis!
OOC:
Sheng Long will snap out of hypnosis if hit. The special spell super-combo’d, hypnotizing the two remaining minions and also the boss!

Players’ choice to snap him out of it or take the win and head to the temple’s top floor, where Aka Nishin awaits…!

(Regardless of the choice, Kurumi and Pix keep the attack bonus they get from having cast their respective spells. And I owe Pira loot, but will see what you decide to do first.)
May 23, 2024 10:25 am
Thundra grunts in satisfaction as Sheng Long gets mezz'ed. "Come on, let us not tarry here!" She starts leading the way to the temple's top floor.
May 24, 2024 10:24 am
Warrior princess that she is, Thundra wastes no time leading the party to the chamber of Aka Nishin. There’s a boom-boom-boom sounding off as our heroines ascend the steps to the top floor.

The sound is not a drum. It’s coming from outside.

At the top of the steps, you see more men in black. Dozens of them. But before you can do more than adjust your stances, they step aside, kneel in seiza position, and bow—hands on the floor, foreheads lowered to their hands.

The men are lined in columns, leaving you a wide path to the one man still standing. He is dressed in red, costume fish-themed similarly to Pira’s.

As you walk past the men, to either side of you are stone gardens with tiny waterfalls. One might expect calico koi swimming between the pools, but the only fish are aka nishin. Red herrings.

Aka Nishin bows as masters bow to equals, deftly—hands by his side, thirty degree angle, eyes meeting yours.

"It is said that one must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance. You defeated him easily, and in a way that bruised his ego more than his body. There is no further need to test you."

When he stops speaking, you notice the boom-boom-boom comes and goes. You hear other sounds accompanying it. A cracking sound. Something distant, high-pitched… birds? A whole flock in a panic?

"Pira. These friends of yours are not the only outsiders that have mysteriously invaded our world. When the machines overtook Australia, you were whisked away by their… portal.

"M. Kangaroo remained behind and, as one might predict, he aligned with them. He embraced the change."

Pix, Kurumi and Thundra are very familiar with Questgivers. They tend to be very capable of solving any problem on their own or have an army at their command, yet they always ask a young warrior to solve everything on her own, or with a teammate or three.

Pira knows this Aka Nishin guy has her same move set that she had in her earlier days, yet somehow, she recognizes him as being legitimately a master. Maybe it’s because he’s old. In any case, she can sense there won’t be a fight in here. If she wants to know what’s happening to her world (or the tournament), this guy might actually have answers.
May 25, 2024 5:40 pm
Pira blinks at the old man and starts opening her mouth to ask one of the million logistical questions she has - from why sending assassins is his greeting of choice to how exactly they know about her companions being outsiders when she doesn't even know it, - but then stops. Because she has a suspicion that if she asks them, it will activate the master's exposition mode - something all overly wise-looking people apparently have in them. Darn, even Jin sometimes went full-on exposition with his battle monologues, and that was an absolute pain with Pira's inability to stand still during a cutscene.

"Kay, got it!" She finally speaks and makes finger guns at Aka Nishin. "We're doing a spin-off, weird aliens invaded Australia, these three and me are the main hero crew, and we're going to beat up newly cyborg-ified Shadowroo. Tell me where's our ride, and we'll hop right on it!"

She pauses, then looks at the other girls with a tilt of her head: "If you three are cool with coming along, 'course! I mean, it sounds like these invaders have something to do with you or whatever; are they your nemeses? Either way, we'll beat their derrière *so* bad!" She pumps her fist in the air, trying to imitate a heroic stance her sometimes-teammates are so proud of. "With the power of fire, dancing, blades and flowers!"

Thundra hefts her huge club and nods her assent. "Yes. Point the way to the butts that need to be kicked!" she says enthusiastically.
May 28, 2024 11:20 am
Kurumi hides behind Thundra with a cute movement and says playfully "Let's go!".
