Part 4: Wave Echo Cave

As Kama waits for the zombies to near, then skull's flames brighten and a ray of fiery energy reaches out and strikes him (17 vs AC, 15 fire damage). The flaming skull begins floating toward Kama, laughing maniacally at him.

"Oh sh-" begins the half-orc before patting out the perceived flames. He disengages from anything that might be too close and retreats back down the hallway.

As he nears the party, he will call out, "Good news, they're not ghouls. Bad news, zombies and a flying head of fire!"

It only takes a few moments and the zombies begin shuffling around the corner, followed closely by the flaming skull. The zombies are currently about five feet from the spilled oil.
OOC:
Party gets initiative. It's up to you how far behind the oil you are at this point, but the enemy line starts about five feet behind the oil and there are eight of them

Kama skips over the oil and stops 15 feet behind (or wherever the party has set up). "Watch our for the flying head! It can shoot fire!" He takes a deep breath, readying himself for battle and drawing a handaxe.
OOC:
Using Second Wind. Readying to throw the handaxe at the flameskull when it gets within 20 feet, or if it stops while still in long range (adding rolls for if that happens). How far back is it?

Stormsong shakes his head as he realizes that they've just placed themselves between a cliff and a horde of zombies.
He draws his wand of magic missiles and tells the group, "If we're swarmed, I can thunder blast them, but you all would need to climb down, or at least be on the rope to avoid damage. It may throw some of them off the cliff, and others back into the fire."

He hums a battle hymn to inspire Kama.
OOC:

He'll blast the first one to emerge from the fiery oil with his wand, sharing the pain with a second if the first goes down.

Thunderwave goes off in the direction you choose. If you want to use it, you can easily aim it down the hallway 15 feet in front of you without affecting your group

Ahhh...I thought it was a cube centered on him. Then rather than preparing the wand, he'll draw his sword and prepare the spell. When the zombies emerge from the fire, He'll step up so that it doesn't affect his friends, and blast them.

Once the zombies are in position, the arrow is released. Another is notched just as quickly as I aim at the least-damaged of the group.

Since all of these seem to be readied actions for the zombies to close in, I will run it simultaneous.
The flameskull laughs maniacally and a small bead of flame comes out of its mouth, stopping in the middle of the party and exploding.

As the zombies approach, Gimblyn throws his spell. A small bolt of fire flies out and strike the oil, igniting it all. The zombies walk through it heedless of the danger and their skin burns and chars from the intense flame.

A loud boom echoes through the entire complex as Stormsong completes his spell. Five of the eight zombies are blow backward beyond the flames, landing just in front of the flameskull.

Kama's axe flies out and strikes the flameskull, chipping off portions of its skull.

Xora's arrow flies out, striking the lead zombie, staggering it back a step, but not stopping it.

Kama tries to duck as the fireball explodes, rolling forward to avoid the flames. "Get rid of that skull!" he cries as he is enveloped in fire. Before he even attempts to extinguish himself, Kama clutches his chest to summon whatever reserves of strength he has left.

"Or retreat. I'll buy you some time," he adds quietly, before charging forward, leaping over the oil-fire to engage the flameskull in melee. As he swings Talon, Kama calls upon luck to guide his hand and smite the cackling bone-thing with Tymora's divinity.
OOC:
Relentless Endurance to get back to 1 HP, then Lay on Hands upon myself to get back to 11 HP. Action Surge to attack flameskull, using Divine Smite.

Kama rushes forward, shoving zombies out of his way as he goes. As he nears the fire, he pushes off hard and goes sailing over the flames. He makes it to the flameskull with his leap and he violently chops down with Talon as he lands. There is a bright flash as his sword strikes the floating skull. He feels a slight resistance as the magic that animates the skull fights against his mighty blow, but it's too much and the skull falls into two pieces on the floor.

Stormsong dodges the fire as best he can, and summons the strength of his mountain home to block some of the damage.

"Kama! More Thunder coming!" yells Stormsong, as he pulls out his wand and fires a 6th level barrage into into the nearest zombies!

Xora's arrows strike Z7 and Z8 in rapid succession, knocking them back a step, but not taking them down.

Hang on, Kama!" Gimblyn shouts as he fires out a couple of fire bolts at the zombies on the other side of the flames. He strikes on in the chest, merely scorching it, but the other one goes right to the head, causing the rotted thing to explode

The zombies on the party-side of the flame advance. One strikes at Stormsong, and the other goes for Xora. Neither one of them can land a blow, with the party nimbly side-stepping the blows.

The zombies on Kama's side of the flames converge on him and he finds himself sorely outnumbered. He takes two blows (17 and 20 vs AC, 7 and 4 damage)
