Chapter 3: The Darklake

[ +- ] Keelboat Crewing
The first shift crew takes over sailing the craft, moving quickly through the water. They only stay on for about 4 hours, before switching over to the second shift crew. Two hours into their shift, the expert eyes of Francis pick out a swarming school of quippers. A pirhana like fish that will only attack those in the water. Bildaweer is familiar enough with these and encourages everyone to just press on and avoid them. After an hour of trailing you, they decide you aren't worth the trouble and leave you be. The next hour is quiet and calm, the only real sound is the sound of the water against the hull and the oars in the water. Georges managed to rig up a little torch holder that holds Francis' glowing mace, casting an eerie green light over the craft. You can choose to extinguish it or not, your choice. If it's out, the whole of this section is in the dark.

However as the next hour of time commences, Francis calls out a threat off your starboard side! A creature is ascending from beneath the depths. You are mildly surprised, but only enough that all he can manage is to pull himself onto your craft.

COMBAT! PCs may act.
[ +- ] Creature (Only this one has fins on his arms and legs, what appears to be gills, and is blue/green). DC15 Nature Check to identify.

Dustin, not sure what the beast is but sure it isn't nice, plinks off a crossbow bolt, however it sails over the creature's shoulder into the darkness beyond.

CEMOS' ACTION
Cemos looks at the creature. Dropping his oar against its holding points, he steps to the creature's side and swings, trying his best to hit him. However he swings far too wide, and spins around in place, unable to do much else this time around.

Francis pulls his fiery mace out of its hastily built holder and swings at the creature. He hits the beast and it shrieks in pain!

Georges steps in close, swinging his scimitar at the creature in wide arcs. Both of his swings slash into the creature's flesh!

Eldreth charges up, hitting another exposed point, swinging her own hammer from behind her shield. A devastating blow to the kneecap causes another howl of pain.

Stool sneaks up by his ankle and tries stabbing. Just barely touching the beast, Stool's dagger glances off the beast, unable to pierce the hide.

Burn it! Acid or Fire! Burn it! Otherwise, the aquatic troll will regenerate! Bildaweer downs the fire breath potion.
OOC:
Will drinking the potion use up my action? Thanks.

OOC:
I think here's what I want to house rule for the game since I think the information presented in the books is weird and dumb. If you have the potion in hand already, it's a free action to drink it. However, in this case, the potion is likely in a container (unless you've spent the last ~7 hours holding this potion WHILE also doing ship work), it will take your action to rummage about and retrieve the potion and then drink it. If you had it in a potion belt or bandoleer, then you could draw it as a movement, drink it as a free, and then take your action.

So in short:
1) potions in hand can be consumed freely
2) potions stored in a backpack or the like will take your action to find and make available
3) potions stored in a potion belt/bandoleer will take your movement to retrieve

Sounds good to me !

OOC:
I think he would have stored it in a backpack or elsewhere anyway. It wasn't very clear in the rules. Thanks for edification!

We just need crazy straws leading to the potions.

After cemos swings wide and misses the creature Dustin sees him glance around the boat trying to see if anyone noticed his blunder. He then trys to make the spin look like it was intentional, like a spin move into a defensive stance.
