The Professor recoils at the sight of living tendrils breaking through the ground and entangling his legs and lower body, creeping there way over his his clothes, their grip firm but not painful. After recognising they were a product of a friend not a foe he somewhat relaxed although the disconcerting feeling of being stuck and exposed remained.
Taking stock of the dragonborn's sword at the stranger's throat the gnome discontinued his preparation of his firebolt cantrip, instead he decided to cast Mage Armour on himself should things further sour and this stranger prove adept at ranged combat.
Consulting his trusty yet disheveled tome of spells, he makes the necessary verbal command whilst his dexterous fingers worked an invisible symbol into the air, all the while he clutched the leather bound book, utilising its material as a necessary component for the spell.
Finishing the spell, The Professor places his now-arcane imbued hand on his chest and immediately feels an invisible energy spread across his body. That energy feels as though it hardens and he is emboldened.
Professor Vortrin casts Mage Armour on himself - boosts AC to 13 + 3 (dex mod).OOC:
Apologies I had thought Elijah was casting a spell.
I realise that I never made it clear what spells Vortrin has prepared, I have assumed he would have Mage Armour but I understand from an RP perspective if its tough luck for me. If so I will revise my post. Also the required componentry is a cure piece of leather,
this would seem fairly common place and his spellbook hopefully suffices?
In saying that, I'd also like to explore the possibility of casting Detect Magic but for the reasons outlined above re: preparation I understand if this is out.
