JBink21 says:
Turning to Leif, Why's that lady talking to a rabbit? Is she sane?. Elon sets down his backpack, lays out his roll and begins taking off his scale mail.

I sure appreciate you taking first watch. Let me know when you want me to take over.
You know what? I haven't quite figured that out yet. Hey, no worse than us walking into an unknown situation with nothing but our blades and our wits huh?

The grasping vines immediately begin to converge on the ground, wrapping their way around the group's legs and arms. Triumphantly Skyro is able to break free without much difficulty and seemingly in one swift motion has managed to draw his sword on Elijah. The others are not so lucky and are held back by the tough thick vines.

"What is this about?! Why do you have a sword drawn on me!" he shouts, exasperated and surprised by the sudden turn of events.
Feb 24, 2018 1:28 am
Skyro face turns into the frightful one demonstrated at the tavern towards P.D., his first words are, First of all, it's not just a sword,
it's MY sword. She has a name, got that?
he laughs, Meet Barbera, or "Barber" for short, because she'd sure love to cut off the scalp beneath all that greasy hair./b] he places Barberas point on Elijiahs neck. [b]You know, I'm offended that you thought you could deceive me, but I see right through you, you bastard. Now, I'm going to give you one chance, and I mean one, to tell me who you really are, what your intentions are, and where the hell that armor came from. Got that? Or... he applies a slight amount of pressure on the mans neck, and he leans in, his eyes a piercing yellow- he opens his mouth, and an orange glow begins to glow in the back of his throat, and his razor sharp teeth are brightened with the glow- You're going to not like it when I'm angry.

The Professor recoils at the sight of living tendrils breaking through the ground and entangling his legs and lower body, creeping there way over his his clothes, their grip firm but not painful. After recognising they were a product of a friend not a foe he somewhat relaxed although the disconcerting feeling of being stuck and exposed remained.

Taking stock of the dragonborn's sword at the stranger's throat the gnome discontinued his preparation of his firebolt cantrip, instead he decided to cast Mage Armour on himself should things further sour and this stranger prove adept at ranged combat.

Consulting his trusty yet disheveled tome of spells, he makes the necessary verbal command whilst his dexterous fingers worked an invisible symbol into the air, all the while he clutched the leather bound book, utilising its material as a necessary component for the spell.

Finishing the spell, The Professor places his now-arcane imbued hand on his chest and immediately feels an invisible energy spread across his body. That energy feels as though it hardens and he is emboldened.

Professor Vortrin casts Mage Armour on himself - boosts AC to 13 + 3 (dex mod).
OOC:
Apologies I had thought Elijah was casting a spell.

I realise that I never made it clear what spells Vortrin has prepared, I have assumed he would have Mage Armour but I understand from an RP perspective if its tough luck for me. If so I will revise my post. Also the required componentry is a cure piece of leather,
this would seem fairly common place and his spellbook hopefully suffices?

In saying that, I'd also like to explore the possibility of casting Detect Magic but for the reasons outlined above re: preparation I understand if this is out.

The tip of the blade pierces the first layer of skin on Elijah's neck, and a little blood runs down his neck to underneath his armor. His green eyes are wide and fixate on the blade that lays at his neck and his fearful look from the tavern begins to show again. If listened to quietly enough one could swear thy could hear his heart beating through his armor.

"E-Easy now with that blade. I'm working to bring people out to the caverns to get robbed. I owe a debt to them and if I didn't pay back by leading people to them they would kill my family" he says, stuttering some some of the words along the way as sweat begins to beat down his head

Skyros eyes move nary a millimeter, as they are purely focused on reading the trembling fool.
OOC:
First really bad roll. Guess they all can't be crits XD Oh crap! I just realized I'm supposed to hide insight rolls huh?

"Robbers? Let them try. I doubt they'll find Skyros or any of us here easy prey!"
Feb 25, 2018 1:32 am
Skyro smiles at Asterions comment, Damn right I'm no easy prey he laughs, and looks back down at Elijiah, I'll strike you a deal, and I take my word seriously. If you tell us everything about these robbers, and help us, you'll live. They're going to kill you for blowing your cover and failing, so at least I'm offering a chance at life. Deal?
Feb 25, 2018 1:33 am
"And that may be the case! I had figured these three he says motioning his eyes at the dwarf, gnome, and dragonborn would be strong enough to defeat them. That's why I didn't press once they had originally told me no. I figured if they were dispatched, that my debt to them would be gone and I can go back to my family without worrying about whether or not they would be harmed."

He looks into the dragonborns eyes.

"Please lower your weapon"

OOC:
@Jabberwocky. The leather on your spellbook works. For future reference just make a note on your character sheet which spells you have prepared. If you want you can do so now, and Ill just assume that you had those prepared since the start of the adventure. MAke sure to include the spells you've already casted/primed

"The ones that bite we stay away from most. Big and white, large teeth. They run very fast!"
Feb 25, 2018 7:15 am
"Now hold on just a moment there, my draconic friend," The Professor piped up after feeling the Mage Armour spell surround him. "I don't trust this fellow not one iota, and even less that he would suddenly turn on his colleagues so easily. I want to know about him first."

Vortrin turns his glaring eyes at Elijah and stared at him defiantly.

"Listen here, you turncoat," The Professor said flatly. "You will tell us who you are, where you are from and what your background is or you will find yourself in an extremely disconcerting situation and I promise you it will not be pleasant. There are other more terrifying things we are capable of that will make the dragonborn's blade seem friendly. I do not tolerate fools, cowards or those who would disrupt an expedition as important as this one."

To emphasise his point, Vortrin casts Prestidigitation and conjured the illusion of a snake slithering its way along the entangling tendrils, up Elijah's body and within inches of his face.

"Perhaps we should set up camp here chaps," the gnome said to his companions, his eyes not leaving those of Elijah's. "It is getting late and we have all night to be convinced by this fool of his true intentions. It will be a long night for him I think."
OOC:
Thanks DM, I've updated the character sheet as requested. Thanks for the leniency on that one.

Cato continues to pull security overwatch, keeping eyes out to the broader surroundings. He's content letting the others hash things out in the roadside confrontation.

"You would turn on your friends too if you had a blade pointed at your throat with no way to defend yourself" claimed the man, who doesnt seem too phased by the snake illusion. He visibly demonstrates trying to pull himself free to no avail to make his point.

"Before all this happened I had come across a small fortune thanks to a discovery of heirlooms in a cave I explored. Well, wanting to take that fortune and make it bigger I wagered some of it off to play some games of chance." his sentences sort of pause. He seems to gain a little composure as time passes on.

"When I started losing, I told myself one more time. Well I told myself that a couple more times than I should have. Next thing you know, Ive lost my whole fortune. I did not want to go back to my family with nothing, so I struck out a loan to try to get my fortune back. Within hours I had lost everything again, and now they wanted the debt paid back immediately. Since I couldn't make the payment they have me working this job of leading stragglers out to the caverns so they can be robbed, and they said I would do this until they said my debt was cleared or they would kill my wife and kids" tears begin to well up in his eyes a little.

Across the plains you dont see too much action Cato. The orange gue in the sky is turning purple on the edges as night time approaches.

Asterion quickly grows bored as Skyro and Vortrin ply the treacherous fellow with threats of various forms of bodily harm. He sheaths his sword and sits on a nearby tree stump. Curious, he eyes the other fellow, the dwarf who conjured the grasping vines, who has stayed silent through all of it.
