OOC:
I think we need a clear indication on how much we heard from the situation Bruv is in. If it sounds like it's popping off Hildar is going to act accordingly. Personally knocking them all out and sorting everything out once we have control of the situation seems like a fairly decent plan lol

OOC:
I mean, Skeeter was left on the porch, right?

As I understand it, I got to Skeeter and started to move him as the Night Creepers came around the house.

I dropped him, used one maneuver to engage the Creepers, and that's where the fight has taken place; within Short range - a handful of meters? - from the front door basically. I never said I closed the front door and wouldn't have, cuz I was planning on coming right back in.

So unless there's sound proof windows and doors (which my impression was that this place was abandoned and run down, so maybe even no windows), again I don't know how at least Tronus who was in the main room couldn't have automatically heard my hollering, their hollering, and/or the combat.

I thought you guys were either just assuming I could handle whoever was out there alone, or you didn't care about the things I cared about (securing suspects).

As I think about it, we all heard the Mayor speaking in presumably a conversational tone outside, from in the kitchen, so again, I cannot fathom how everyone doesn't know there's a fight going on - there's been shouting on both sides, probably screams of pain - automatically.

"Should we just cool down for a moment?" Nekurr asks to no one in particular as his hand moves to his dagger.

Rolls

Cool 😎

Hildar looks about, seeming to consider several things at once as things begin to escalate "Mayor Wayland you seem to be implying we should let you execute Miss Anzila for murdering the barons tax collector in addition to some other nebulous offences. It would seem that the her fate then should sit with the Barron and is not merely a matter for a 'Local Judiciaries'. Further more which Lady are you worshiping here? Aris or Harridan?"
OOC:
Wanting to see if the name drop of Harridan gets any particular reaction from the Mayor here, hoping that just dropping it in may catch him off guard

OOC:
Well I'm not sure which of the Social skills would be best suited for the approach Hildar is taking here (Leadership would seem like a good choice) but Hildar is on 2 x green die for all of them so I'm just going ahead and rolling that and crossing everything lol............well.......ok then lol

OOC:
I'm going to say for the 3 threat he misinterprets the mention of Harridan (but hopefully this exchange still gives you a clearer idea of what's going on).
The mayor stops in his tracks at mention of Aris and Harridan. "You—you're playing with fire mentioning that name, Mr. Hildar. Don't tell me this witch has tried spreading her blasphemies to you, too? Our Lady—" He looks to the moonlit sky through the roof. "—and I do mean Aris—demands blood to get rid of the taint this woman's brought with her. Better it be Anzila's than someone else's, don't you think? But we will do our sacred duty tonight one way or another. If you're insisting you get to take this heretic into custody, so be it. Just swear you'll take her out of my village and let us get back to our ritual in peace."
OOC:
No further Lore rolls required -- the idea that Aris, a peaceful nature goddess, would demand blood doesn't compute, even allowing for idiosyncratic local differences. The mayor is either lying or deluded. The dice suggest you aren't inclined to agree to let him go back to whatever ritual he's talking about. Let me know what you want to use that Despair for, then it's fight on!

Rolls

Negotiation vs. group

3 Success, 1 Advantage, 4 Failure, 2 Threat, 1 Despair

Nekurr looks at Hildar confused. The elf is clearly well educated and should have noticed that Aris is not a blodlusted goddess. He then looks at Tronus who is ready to beat these strange people with some proper "baronial authority". Did he just say he will kill someone regardeless of who it is?. The priest is getting very unconfortable with how the events are turning out as takes another at Isle's corpse as he hold his dagger harder
OOC:
For me, he could spill a bit more of his plans... like, why are they sacrificing the boy, or make a dump mistake that clarifies who is Aris' impostor.
Jan 4, 2021 1:08 pm
"If you have a hard time even lying to yourself..." Tronus states not stopping.
OOC:
Clever Retort add 2 more Threat and did you get the setback from stubborn if he's targeting Tronus?

Rolls

Cool... Tronus is more quick simmer currently though

4 Success

With the immediate thereat neutralized, Bruv moves to get the body of Skeeter inside.
Jan 5, 2021 2:04 am
OOC:
I did indeed include the setback from Tronus's Dwarfiness, yes. :)

Despair reveals his ultimate motivation here. 3 threat delays his allies in the high corn long enough so that Bruv can try to get Skeeter onto the porch, and for Tronus and Nekurr to draw weapons. emsquared, getting Skeeter through the overgrowth on the porch is going to be an Athletics check, Average (PP), with two setbacks for darkness.
One of the Night Creepers fidgets and paws at its sickle. "Sir—You want I should go tell 'em to get the Tabbins girl ready for the sacrifice? Damn shame, but ain't nobody else if we let 'em have the witch..."
Jan 5, 2021 2:05 am
"Shut your mouth, you dolt!" Wayland looks cross as a pulls a bone-white staff from his cloak. "So what's the the story, folks? We doing this the hard way, then? May the Lady have mercy on us."
OOC:
Bruv can attempt the Athletics check as part of last turn. Beyond that, Tronus has won you first slot to go!

And ignore the roll. I'm worried you're all so powerful this will be a rout for the bad guys, but I think letting him get a spell off is in bad form, so disregard.

How far am I from him now?
Jan 5, 2021 2:28 pm
OOC:
Everyone's at short range to one another except Bruv, who is at medium range to the rest of the group (across a large living room and porch unless he makes that Athletics check I mentioned, or else abandons Skeeter).
Jan 5, 2021 3:40 pm
Tronus haven given enough time to deescalate on the other side and seeing the response makes good on his promise after closing distances between the two.

In the darkness, Bruv has a hard time avoiding the brambles and vines. As he gets the unconscious man onto the porch, the Orc gets scraped by a thorn of some kind.
OOC:
2 strain to Bruv. That puts him on the porch (at the doorway to the large southern room) and medium range to the action in the current initiative order. More soon...
Jan 6, 2021 2:59 am
Tronus swings his sword at the mayor, but one of the Night Creepers jumps in the way of the blow. "Mayor!" he calls out, as the blade slashes through black robes and flesh behind it. The Creeper stays standing, but the mayor intones, "May Aris have mercy on your souls!"
OOC:
I can't get a break on this guy's spell casting! So, he used an ability to have an ally take that blow for him. He'll use his turn to disengage from Tronus and to maintain his counterspell. 2 Advantage to recover 2 strain.

PC is up.

Whats the positioning of the enemies in the room. I know there's the mayor and at least one other goon but are we just talking the two targets or more? Also is it ok to say I was still keeping the beetle spell running or would they have dissipated by now?
Jan 6, 2021 11:52 am
OOC:
Yes, it's the mayor and one 2-member minion group of Night Creepers at the moment. Everyone's at short range to everyone else except Bruv, who's at medium. I didn't have the mayor react to the beetles, as I assumed they were gone, but I'll leave that to you: If you want to say they're still active, we can do so.
Jan 6, 2021 1:26 pm
OOC:
We're at least wearing down his strain, he's casting, maintaining a spell as a second action so double stain drain while running for more meat shields.
