Picking things up Monday. Mordred, hope you make it back!
Nov 6, 2018 12:17 am
While Zangua feints at the priest with his pole-mounted blade, Felor casts forth a hammer formed by the very matter of his faith, following behind it with his spear at the ready. Aeron raises one hand, and the hammer tumbles end over end off to the side. Felor thrusts with his spear, but the point seems to slip right between the priest's shanks.

Leth lurches to his feet and draws his blades as the void in his mind left by the sudden withdrawal of the priest's influence quickly fills with a hot and purposeful anger. His first swings cut only air, but the final blow slices into the priest's elbow.

Domarc retches fire at the priest, again.

Mordred, where you at!

Mordred rouses himself from a brief daydream of toiling in some sort of library, along with visions of a busy family, and feelings of general malaise.

Sorry, gang. I'm back and I shall endeavor to be better.

EDIT: Somehow, his reverie induces a clarity of vision, the likes of which he has never experienced before.

Well I was looking forward to having the monster priest kill you in a spectacular fashion, but having you back is preferable!

Domarc starts to hear something -- a faint rustling coming from above that seems to be growing louder. He makes fleeting eye contact with Zangua, who briefly flicks his eyes up at the ceiling. He hears it too, as does Mordred, skulking in the shadows.

Nobody made the Insight roll. Leth, you wanna take a swing at it?
Nov 22, 2018 10:02 am
Mordred was clearly just taking the time to perceive his surroundings exceptionally well...

Leth hears a soft thump behind him, then another, as the rustling and scratching sounds grow louder. He glances back for a moment, and when he turns his head forward again, the priest stands directly before him, arms raised.

Edit: Painful blows rain down on Leth's head and shoulders; despite his appearance, the creature's fists are like solid iron.

Domarc, Felor, Leth, Mordred, and Zangua, take a combat action!

Backing off a bit, Domarc looks to the ceiling, the stairs, around the room, trying to see what might be coming.

Held action - Domarc will breathe his last fire breath at anything new that emerges/enters his range

Bonus action - inspire Mordred - an extra d8 to an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check

As Aeron attacks Leth, Mordred slips in behind him with a vicious sneak attack.

If I remember correctly I can hold that Inspiration and use it after a roll. Let's see how this goes.

EDIT: I'll add the Inspiration on my Attack roll...

Leth tries not to crumple to the ground as fists like hammers rain down on him. He's not used to being this close to his enemies, and is immediately reminded why. Not wasting time on a witty retort or careful strategic analysis, Leth simply lashes out again with his swords, instinctively trying to hurt the thing that hurt him.

Domarc recalls a long-ago night in the port of Razool when a horde of rats crawled across the roof of the warehouse in which he was conducting negotiations. The loudening patter above sounds all too familiar.

The rest of the party converges on Aeron with what resembles a fearsome coordination, with Mordred plunging a dagger into the monstrous priest's back while Leth catches him with a wild swing from his off-hand blade. While the spectral hammer flies uncertainly and fails to connect, Felor manages to drive his spear into Aeron's flank, eliciting an angry, gurgling hiss. As the attackers withdraw, Zangua throws himself at Aeron, arms wide open, but Aeron twists away and leaves Zangua stumbling into the dark corner of the cellar.

Aeron drifts backwards, head turning left and right. His motions seem like those of a marionette, stiff and inhuman.

And then, without warning, he rushes toward Zangua so swiftly he almost seems to teleport, his arms held out in the same way Zangua did when he rushed to tackle him seconds before...

Edit: Zangua drops and tumbles backwards, slipping away as the priest claps his hands together where Zangua's head just was.

Domarc, Felor, Leth, Mordred, and Zangua, you can take combat actions again.

Rolls

Aeron attack vs Zangua - (1d20+9, 1d20+9, 1d8+4, 1d8+4)

1d20+9 : (2) + 9 = 11

1d8+4 : (8) + 4 = 12

1d8+4 : (5) + 4 = 9

Zangua grunts, lacking any words in his frustration. Once again he tries to restrain the monster so that his companions might have an advantage in their attacks.

Dec 3, 2018 11:56 am
