You've been sentenced to prison. Perhaps you're guilty, perhaps not. All that matters is you are here now. If you're a magic user, a collar has been placed around your neck, preventing your powers from being used. Your stuff had been taken, all that you have now is a simple tunic and a pair of pants: no shoes, no armor, and no weapons. You are escorted to a single cell, the bars three inches apart. There are no windows.

The first three months come and go. You are weak, 2 sparse meals a day in your cell does little for your strength. You notice the guards, primarily half orcs and orcs patrolling the halls. Occasionally you hear the cries of other prisoners.

After 3 months, things begin changing. The cries from prisoners become fewer, meals scarcer, and the guards are now drow and duergar. You are each taken to a room one day, manacled to a metal table. a female drow comes in followed by a figure in a hood that you can't make out. The drow looks at you, then to the hooded figure. You are then returned to your cell. The whole exchange lasts less than a minute.

One day, a few days later, you hear commotion in the halls. Suddenly, everything goes eerily dark. You can't even see your hands in front of your face. Within a minute, the darkness disappears. Your cells are open, your magic inhibiting collars removed and each of you has a few items laying on your bed.

Darastrix- on your bed lies a necklace of holly and a scimitar.

Corelief - Studded leather armor and a dagger

Baenroth - your spellbook and an orb

Lilcyra - a light crossbow with 20 bolts and crystal

As you exit your cells, you see the halls strewn with dead guards and each other, exiting the cells.

What do you do?
Jul 22, 2019 5:50 pm
Putting the necklace on and giving a brief prayer to the old gods. He lifts the scimitar and leaves his cell.

"At lassst fressssh meet."
Bends down to inspect the fallen guards.
Jul 22, 2019 6:02 pm
It seems as though something very sharp has just destroyed the guard, putting several gold piece size holes through the armor of each of them. The armor looks unusable.
Jul 22, 2019 6:06 pm
Ooc: does it look like a spear or javelin wound ?
Trying to stick with what he knows. Are they mostly drow ?

Corelief rush over and quickly dons his now studded leather and briefly inspects the dagger to be sure is in decent shape. He looks over his other apparent prisoners with a critical eye.

He says Someone meant for us to run. I'm not going to disappoint them. He doesn't have to think about this much after the many months of captivity. He leads the way down the hall. He only pauses a moment to scan the many guard bodies is for a better weapon than the given dagger.
Jul 22, 2019 6:26 pm
Looking at the holes, they’re not from and javelin or spear you’ve seen, in fact the shape would suggest a dagger, but you’ve never seen a dagger do this much damage.

As you scan the bodies, weapons seem to be lacking. Now that you think of it, the only guards you ever saw with weapons were the ones that escorted you to the other room.
Jul 22, 2019 6:31 pm
Corelief isn't surprised that they don't have weapons. He was just with hope they might. Who knows if he will have trouble leaving this palace. He doesn't consider why. He also isn't so concerned if other follow immediately or later behind him. He appears to have one thought right now. Although a feast table laid with food could possibly distract him. He is well past being hungry. He even feels better getting up and moving just down the hall. His cramped cell has been a nightmare. Shower would be nice too.

There is a door to the east and the west. The bodies would suggest someone killed everyone moving toward the east door.
Jul 22, 2019 6:54 pm
Darastrix cuts some jerky.

Then rises, "Strange weapon did thisss." he looks to the others, "The season has changed for us. Like the wind we should blow."

He then follows the other.
Jul 22, 2019 7:01 pm
Corelief would go west as he isn't interested in where they are going or doing. He figures the way they came is probably the way out. He doesn't think they are busting out but busting in.

If we are fortunate they have cleared all the way to leave this place. Let Besra bless us.

Without a collar for the first time in months Lilcyra feels like she can finally breath. Grabbing the orb she already begins to feel the familiar presence of Oblivion; right now it's a welcome feeling. She loads the crossbow and prepares herself mentally for what may be in store.

Listening to the chatter from the hallway she decides the two aren't a threat to her, and makes her presence known, treading quietly into the body strewn hallway.
Jul 22, 2019 7:54 pm
"Alliance ? Mutual benefit working as a tribe."
Jul 22, 2019 9:45 pm
Despite the lesser condition of Corelief as it has been lately, Corelief lets a brief chuckle loose, Yeah. Would make chances of us leaving this place a possibility. He holds up his dagger. Not like this is going aid me an awful lot. He paused a moment before continuing westward.
Jul 23, 2019 4:38 am
"Very well." With no real knowledge of their situation Lilcyra follows after the two, her expression neutral.
Jul 23, 2019 12:13 pm
Darastrix looks to the other prisoners now escaped, "You should come as well."

He then fetches the collar from his cell, "The roots that bound us, may bind others." He says with what might sound like contempt. He then heads West.

Just waiting to see if JabBur will be joining us.
Jul 23, 2019 1:53 pm
Baenroth awakes to find his spellbook and an orb. After months in prison he is wondering if he has begun to hallucinate. He picks up the book and looks through it. It is indeed his. He remembers scribing each spell during hours of study. He holds his hand out over the the orb, cautious, wondering if it is some sort of trick or trap. But he decides to risk it. He grasps it and can feel it drawing his attention, focusing his mind when he lets it. "A focus," he mutters. He looks out the open cell door and steps through, scarcely believing the opportunity. He sees the others down the hall, conversing. His elven ears pick out what they are saying, and he walks over to them as quickly as his stiff legs allow. "Hail! You seek to escape? Please, allow me to join you!" he calls as he approaches.

You approach the west door, stepping over bodies along the way. The door is a solid wood and seems intact.
Jul 23, 2019 2:30 pm
"Wait! Allow me. It may be trapped or warded."

Baenroth casts "Mage Hand" and uses the hand to try opening the door, while staying about 15 feet back from it.
Jul 23, 2019 2:44 pm
The door opens with no problems, leading into a hallway that leads north-south.
Jul 23, 2019 3:55 pm
"Magisssster, did you bring the collar for enemies ?"

Heads West.
Jul 23, 2019 3:55 pm
Baenroth waits and looks at the larger members of the party expectantly, waiting for one of them to lead the way. "I would send my familiar to scout, but our gracious hosts banished him when they put me here."
Jul 23, 2019 4:21 pm
"The only thing I will give our enemies is death."
Jul 23, 2019 4:55 pm
Going through the door, We must not tarry. Let us hope our benefactor cleared the way for us. He has the dagger out aggressively in his hands.

Jul 23, 2019 5:01 pm
With no descriptions of the hallways. Corelief will proceed North after exiting through the starting room's door.
Jul 23, 2019 5:25 pm
Baenroth will follow about 15 feet behind Corelief. So I know it's not the best time for social hour, but what are your names? Mine is Baenroth."
Jul 23, 2019 5:27 pm
Walks hunched over but keeps his tail from swaying so as not to hit any of the others.

He will briefly look through the south door just to see what is that way.
Jul 23, 2019 6:12 pm
Both halls seem identical. Various doors line the halls, each about 30’ apart from each other. Both directions seem empty and creepily quiet.
Jul 23, 2019 6:14 pm
Seeing the same he closes the door and heads north with the others.
Jul 23, 2019 6:31 pm
Your group heads north, every 30’ there is a wooden door, none are labeled. About 300’ away, you see stairs leading downwards.
Jul 23, 2019 6:53 pm
Baenroth uses his mage hand to open each door as he passes them, lagging behind the others to do so, if they do not wait for him. "I know it is unlikely, but our effects could be stored in one of these rooms. I for one, would like to have some food or money when we leave this place." After opening each door, he makes a casual look into each one, not lingering unless something catches his eye or looks like it might store something.
Jul 23, 2019 7:13 pm
Every door opens to a room that looks like where you saw the female drow and mysterious figure, that is all the rooms except the last on the right, which your mage hand cannot seem to open.
Jul 23, 2019 8:10 pm
"There's something odd about this door. It won't open." Baenroth announced.
Jul 23, 2019 9:21 pm
"Perhaps it is locked like our cells were. We may need to force it."
Jul 23, 2019 9:24 pm
Corelief with some discretion calls back Stop opening doors. We don't need addition trouble. I don't plan to die here. He keeps heading down the corridor looking for an ending door or such. Perhaps an entrance to the corridor and a way out.

Jul 24, 2019 3:27 pm
Darastrix looks at the door studying how sturdy it looks.
Jul 24, 2019 3:29 pm
The door looks solid and well made, but could be broken if it was struck hard enough.

The acid from your claws corrodes the lock after a few seconds and the handle falls off. Back down the hallway in the other direction, you hear the sound of footsteps.
Jul 24, 2019 4:50 pm
"You asked my name: Lilcyra. Inside, now." Lilcyra speaks quickly, seemingly on the verge of pushing those in front of her to escape from whatever is approaching them.
Jul 24, 2019 4:51 pm
Slips past the door and continues moving looking for other doors and rooms.
Jul 24, 2019 4:54 pm
Baenroth enters the newly opened room without question, moves away from the door once inside, and then turns with the orb raised, and a firebolt spell readied to fire at a moment's notice. "Nice to make your acquaintance Ms. Lilcyra. And yours as well, Mr. Darastrix. Remind me not to shake your hand. Anyone have any idea what those footsteps belong to?"
Jul 24, 2019 4:58 pm
"The claws, are heritage the acid is gone now. Footsteps could be what killed all those we saw dead. Since we don't know if they are allies or enemy, I would like to avoid." Darastrix says looking to Beanroth he nods to Lilcyra.
Jul 24, 2019 5:14 pm
In this new room, you see a desk with a chair behind it, two chairs in front of the table, and two full bookshelves on either side of the room.
Jul 24, 2019 5:16 pm
Darastrix looks around, "No other way out, unless hidden ways."
Jul 24, 2019 5:20 pm
Baenroth examines the books on the shelves, gently tugging on each one as he goes. A library is his home environment. "I wish I had a cart to take all these books with me! As it is, we should seaarch them for anything magical or, perhaps, a secret switch to a way out as Darastrix has suggested." Baenroth is paying attention to the books, looking specifically for spell books or books of magical theory, but also searching for hidden switches.

You don’t find any hidden switches or much that you’d find of interest, really. Most of the books have titles like "The Timid Torturer", or "The Fool’s Guide to Torture" and "Prison Administration for the Witless." However, at the very end of the book case, you do find a vial of green liquid.
Jul 24, 2019 5:42 pm
"Well, someone's interest in their profession was a bit obsessive. One might even say it had "captured" their entire focus." Baenroth smirks at his own pun as he looks at the vial in an attempt to identify the liquid. "Anyone know what this might be? I wish I had a pocket on this prison smock."

Corelief considers the situation, I think we should go back the way we came. Going down the steps probably isn't the way out.
Jul 25, 2019 12:15 pm
Darastrix will open the door and look out to see if the hall is empty so they can head the opposite way.
Jul 25, 2019 1:28 pm

Jul 25, 2019 5:23 pm

OOC:
At this point I'd argue heading up is the best bet, unless we are in some kind of underground caves or some-such.
Jul 25, 2019 6:33 pm
The hallway is currently empty.
OOC:
There are no windows that you’ve seen yet, so you’d just be guessing if you’re above or below. You also do not know if there are any "up" stairs at this point.
Jul 25, 2019 6:43 pm
Corelief waste no time and continues down it to go past where we entered at and beyond.
Jul 25, 2019 6:47 pm
"Well, i for one am in no shape to go around picking fights with who knows what, and given the state of our arms and equipment, I don't think any of us are. We ought to go the opposite direction from those footsteps and head back along the hall the way we came. At least check out the other wing for an exit or something." Seeing that Corelief had roughly the same idea, or at the least the same execution, Baenroth followed a few feet after him.
Jul 25, 2019 7:48 pm
"The hall is empty."

Darastrix takes the time to move now also.
Jul 26, 2019 12:47 am

Baenroth heads down the hallway to the south, opening each door with his Mage Hand. He is particularly keeping an eye out for charcoal, incense, herbs, and a brass vessel that could be used as a brazier. "Apologies in advance if I unleash any horrors upon us for this, but I am feeling rather anxiously desperate for a few specific items all of a sudden."
Jul 26, 2019 5:27 pm
4 of the 6 rooms you open are more interrogation rooms, the last two at the end of the hall are different. The one on the right is locked and the one on the left opens to a room with ceiling high bookcases on the left and right walls and an up staircase directly across from the door.
Jul 26, 2019 5:29 pm
Looks at the books in this place if any have titles.

He then looked to the staircase and then back to the others.
Jul 26, 2019 5:31 pm
All of these books seem really old and the spines are unlabeled. In order to determine if any books are worth anything, you’ll have to look closer.

Jul 26, 2019 7:17 pm
In answer to Darastrix earlier question, Baenroth had answered, "Vile humor from a vile people. A race that has betrayed their very natures. So it would be more accurate to say it is a failed attempt at humor. It seems there is little else here of any real value, though that tome you found should prove useful if its accurate."

Baenroth almost follows the party up the stairs, but hesitates, and then goes back across the hall to the last, locked door and casts Acid Splash on the handle. He then attempts to kick it in.
Jul 26, 2019 7:27 pm
The acid eats through the handle and you’re able to kick open the door. Inside, the room is dark but there is enough light from the hall to see strange symbols etched into the stonework all around the room.
Jul 26, 2019 7:40 pm
Interesting. Baenroth opens his hand and turns his palm upward, whispers "Isatu" and a small flame appears in his hand, illuminating the room. He uses the light to examine the symbols.

Out of curiosity, are there any windows in this large 150' square room or other exits? How high does the ceiling rise to? Is the ceiling stone as well? Corelief is still looking for a way out. :)

Actually now I see where proficiency is added to ability checks like dexteri y etc. Page 173 under the paragraph proficiency bonus. Knew I didnt imagine it.

There are 3 windows to the south, which is your left. The first one is 30’ in front of you and about 30’ to your left.

The blast hits the drow, but not as direct as would Lilcyra would have liked, glancing off of his shoulder.
Jul 28, 2019 1:33 pm
Baenroth flinches slightly at the unexpected blast but recovers quickly and send his own spell at the same drow. He holds his focus in front of him and draws a circle around it with the other hand, mutters a strange word, and a greenish yellow globule appears floating in the air in front of him, then flies at the feet of the drow, splashing on the floor and burning it.

"They should have surrendered. Strange they did not." Darastrix grips his wound.

Corelief grabs up another weapon, Get what you can off them. We need to move. He doesn't even care who or why they were there it appears. Once again his mind is on one track. He does uselessly tries wipe of some of the Drow's blood that Darastrix nicely gave him from killing a Drow.

Darastrix will see if either drow has potions as well as something he could use to stick the large book he has in. If they have shields he will claim one.
Aug 2, 2019 11:52 pm
Corelief doesn't care for the delay but doesn't say anything contrary. He just stand and watches guard.
Aug 2, 2019 11:55 pm
A quick look around the room finds no potions. In the room is about 30 bunks with the same amount of foot lockers. Most of the foot lockers are empty. You find 10 backpacks that are empty, 5 daggers, 20 silver, 5 gold, several journals, a few miscellaneous books, a bag of mysterious herbs, and a 100' hempen rope.
Aug 3, 2019 12:05 am
Corelief will loot a backpack while watching over for trouble. He already has a dagger and shortsword and not to interested in more daggers or he would have retrieved the one the Drow threw at him. I'm assuming that I can get a pouch off one of the dead Drows. Corelief like to have one. He is on the touch lacking side.

He generates a small flame in his hand, ready to throw at anything that moves.

Aug 7, 2019 3:23 pm
Baenroth nods and dismisses the flame in his hand, then summons a ghostly Mage Hand and uses it to try the door.
Aug 7, 2019 3:28 pm
The door opens without issue.
Aug 7, 2019 3:34 pm
"I wassss misstaken." Darastrix will head through and look around.
Aug 7, 2019 3:37 pm
"You were cautious. Not a bad trait to possess in a place like this." Baenroth follows Darastrix into the room and summons his flame again to serve as a light.
Aug 7, 2019 3:40 pm
As you enter the hallway, the scene is much the same, but worse. These bodies have been demolished. Heads and limbs are strewn everywhere. It seems as if about a dozen guards were killed here. The hall seems identical to the last one. 6 doors to you left, 6 doors and a stairwell to your right.
Aug 7, 2019 3:46 pm
Darastrix moves ahead to let others in and will stop at each door to see if they wish to open them.

Aug 7, 2019 4:12 pm
Baenroth enters the hallway and tries to suppress an urge to vomit, but fails. He retches up last night's prison gruel along the side of the hallway, hopefully out of the way. He was never a fighter, never a soldier, and the sight of so much carnage is more than he can immediately handle.
Aug 7, 2019 4:34 pm
Corelief doesn't concentrate on the dead bodies. He has seen death, but this is bit more brutal.

Lets head to the stairs and leave these doors to later if must.
Aug 7, 2019 4:41 pm
Nods and heads to the stairs.
Aug 7, 2019 4:48 pm
As you make your way to the stairs, a noise catches your attention. Ahead of you, you see a duergar guard missing a leg, crawling towards a short sword.
Aug 7, 2019 4:51 pm
Corelief calls the dwarf, You live long if you stop now. as he moves to impose himself between the Dwarf and the Short Sword while holding his Drow short sword threatening.
Aug 7, 2019 4:53 pm
Darastrix moves to flank the dueregar and sniffs at the air.

Baenroth follows the group toward the stairs, forcing himself past the horror of the hallway. He stops at the top of the steps. Baenroth uses his mage hand to move the sword away from the duergar. "Best to do as he says, and also to tell us how to get out of here."

Aug 7, 2019 5:46 pm
Lilcyra carefully maneuvers around the corpses, trying to hold her breath so as to keep the pungent smell from entering her body. Then she see's the lone Duergar who still draws breath. "Answer the question and we will."

Aug 7, 2019 6:32 pm
Darastrix will go through the guard corpses for keys.
Aug 7, 2019 6:34 pm
No keys are to be found. As a matter of fact, the short sword seems to be the only thing other than body parts and destroyed leather here.
Aug 7, 2019 6:36 pm
"No equipment save that sword. Unusual."
Aug 7, 2019 7:40 pm
"Nothing about this situation is what I would consider usual." Lilcyra grabs the swords. "I'm keeping this. Forward? Or shall we check every room?"
Aug 7, 2019 7:53 pm
"I would like to leave as soon as possible," Baenroth states without looking back down the hallway. He keeps his eyes focused on the stairs in front of him. "I'm beginning to wonder if this elf he mentioned is the one who let us out of our cages. Someone certainly killed our guards and could have killed us, but didn't. Instead they equipped us. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, after all. Nevertheless, I'm not too keen on meeting her in person..."

Well if what the man says is true than we need to be heading downward to get out of here Corelief picks up the Dwarf's sword and compares it to the Drow's short sword that he has to see if it is better.

Lets keep a sharp eye out for this Elf. Not one to be messed with.
Aug 7, 2019 10:39 pm
Both swords look equally effective.
Aug 7, 2019 10:57 pm
Darastrix will look towards the stairs and see if it looks like anyone is on them.
Aug 7, 2019 11:40 pm
Stairs seem empty, but after about 30’ the turn right
Aug 7, 2019 11:57 pm
Waits for the others then heads down when they get there.
Aug 8, 2019 1:44 am
Corelief will lead the way down the stairs with a Drow short sword out. He puts the new Dwarf short in a scabbard to take with him.
Aug 8, 2019 3:10 am
Baenroth follows at the rear, a flame in hand for light.
Aug 8, 2019 1:52 pm
You make your way down the stairs. You keep walking and after what seems like forever, you finally come to a door. You automatically hear the sounds of fighting.
Aug 8, 2019 2:19 pm
Darastrix holds a hand up. He listens at the door.
Aug 8, 2019 6:31 pm
Baenroth stops and listens as well, using his Ken Senses to listen closely and try to distinguish how many people are fighting.

Aug 9, 2019 12:14 am
"It sounds like a dozen or so combatants. But it doesn't sound like a general brawl or anything like that. It sounds like it's a bunch of people ganging up on one person or creature." Baenroth explains."Is there a key hole to peer through or anything?"
Aug 9, 2019 12:30 am
Well if they are really busy then lets open the door slightly and see what is what.
Aug 9, 2019 4:08 am
"Keyholes aren't that big unless you are a mouse. Just be cautious." Lilcyra whispers hastily, not sure how she feels about the prospect of dealing with so many threats.

You push the door open and it makes a loud creeeeaaakkkk. You look inside and everyone seems to be transfixed on one point in the in the middle of the room. From here, you can see 4 guards with bows pointed downward into a pit of some sort. If there wasn't a 3' high wall around the pit, you'd probably be able to see in there too.
Aug 9, 2019 7:47 pm
Baenroth sees the guards and hears the screech as the door opens much quicker and easier, but also much louder, than expected. He is surprised by this and quickly closes the door again and holds it shut. "Is there a lock? Can we lock it? Quick, quick, quick, lock it quick!!"

Aug 9, 2019 10:07 pm
You do not see a lock
Aug 10, 2019 12:56 am
About four. With bows. They were pointing at something in a well or put of some sort."
Aug 10, 2019 2:54 am
Be nice if the didn't have bow and at the ready. We really don't need to take arrow with possibly so much more to travel. Any suggestions?
Aug 10, 2019 5:12 am
"Wait for someone to come through the door and stab them. Or wait for them to deal with whatever they are dealing with."
Aug 10, 2019 6:37 am
"Yesss, let them deal with the threat then we deal with them or the threat."
Aug 12, 2019 1:29 am
"Sounds like a good plan to me."
Aug 12, 2019 3:05 am
Lets give this a minute or two. If they were pointing arrows then it should be long before this matter got resolved. Then we will bust in fast and see where that gets us. Hopefully surprise.
Aug 12, 2019 9:19 pm
You wait a few minutes and the noise intensifies. Then suddenly stops. You hear a females voice. You can come in now. It’s safe.
Aug 12, 2019 9:24 pm
Corelief doesn't even contemplate it, he just opens the door and enters. Why sure. Be rude not to take an invitation.
Aug 12, 2019 10:47 pm
"What the? Just like that?!" Baenroth does not immediately follow, but watches cautiously from the doorway. Still tense.
Aug 12, 2019 11:05 pm
As you approach the wall and peer down. What you see is a bloodbath. Below is what looks like a fighting pit. Limbs are strewn everywhere, partially chopped heads and and torsos litter the grounds. Any alone, is a single elven woman, covered in blood, smiling. No apparent weapons and no apparent harm.

More are coming. Are you fighting, or fleeing?
Aug 12, 2019 11:08 pm
"Not opposed to fighting but wish to be out of this prison most."
Aug 12, 2019 11:41 pm
Corelief calls down into the pit to the elven female with no weapons, I don't rightly have any rope and haven't seen any either. Appears he is willing to spare a few moments.
Aug 13, 2019 1:15 am
Baenroth edges into the room, and when he feels a little safer walks over to the pit, surprised to see another elf. Upon seeing a fellow elf, his courage is renewed. "Milady, my sincerest apologies for not coming to your aid earlier. Judging by the soldiers, we assumed they had cornered some great beast. Of course we will stay and fight by your side. Are you inured?"
Aug 13, 2019 2:10 am
Injured? Ha. These mortals can’t touch me. If you’d rather leave, we have four horses waiting for you. She wipes the blood off of her face. And if you want to come down, stairs are just south of here.
OOC:
I believe one of you picked up some rope?
Aug 13, 2019 2:35 am
Hmm I see. Well then we shall be there shortly. You did say the stairs to the south of us. Looks around at everyone with nodding of the head Yeah. He adds on And by the way, what would call you as I am Corelief.
Aug 13, 2019 3:47 am
"Corelief hold." Lilcyra walks in front of Corelief, a hand on his chest so as to say "stop". She eyes this elf with suspicion. "Why do you offer us such hospitality? Who are you?"
Aug 13, 2019 6:37 am
Corelief laughs and says I offered nothing. But I do believe passively that the elf is our mysterious benefactor. But that will be later.

Stepping around Lilcyra, There are horses to get to.

Aug 13, 2019 5:26 pm
OOC:
The pit is about 15' down.
I merely do what I am hired to do. As for my name, just call me Eldrina.
Aug 13, 2019 5:53 pm
Corelief stops and asks the group, Doesn't one of us have some rope? I recall seeing some.
Aug 13, 2019 9:06 pm
"Eldrina, I am Baenroth, at your service. Are you even in need of help getting out of the pit, or is there some other means of egress down there? You mentioned stairs? I for one would like to join you. Especially if you're the one responsible for our freedom." Baenroth looks into the pit trying to see if there is a door or tunnel leading out of it.
Aug 13, 2019 11:37 pm
"...If we perish it is not on me." Lilcyra relents against Corelief while Baenroth converses with this Eldrina. Pulling out the rope in question she tosses some down, and looks for an anchor point to use.

The elven one seems to know about us and our situation. I can't see how freeing her would be a disadvantage.

I can support her if you don't think we have rope spot. Corelief looks to fairly husky. But still may take another.
Aug 14, 2019 12:40 am
She points behind her where you see stairs leading to an opening at the end of the pit. They seem to go right up to your level.

I hope you guys fight better than these drow, because my job is to get you out alive.
Aug 14, 2019 1:05 am
Looks for the stairs leading down and heads down.
Aug 14, 2019 1:38 am
You head down the stairs and take note of even more dead bodies. Once you reach the bottom you see a door coming from every direction.

If I counted right, should be about 20 more people, somewhere. Although it wouldn't surprise me if more drow have made their way through a portal.
Aug 14, 2019 1:37 pm
Baenroth heads down the stairs to the pit as well. "May I ask who hired you to get us out? I was under the impression no one even knew we were here. Or knew that i was here at any rate. I don't even know where here is." Baenroth is trying his absolute best to retain his composure, despite the sights and smells of death making him nauseated.
Aug 14, 2019 6:24 pm

Eldrina chuckles and a weapon materializes in her hands. Its a chain with a triangular tipped blade attached to then end. She swings the blade in a circle, gathering momentum and throws the blade. It flies forward, making a hole through three of the enemies.
OOC:
Due to Eldrina's level and capabilities, her moves are going to be cinematic and less "game play". I had originally designed this scene (in my head) as a fleeing battle scene with you guys running and her killing everyone, but this will work. :)

Corelief is brave but no fool either. He doesn't rush the Drow after seeing what Eldrina is doing to them. He holds his ground and prepares himself for any on coming Drows.

A breath of life surges into Baen and his eyes shoot open with a deep breath. You all make your way to the back door. As you do, the wall around the oor behind the 3rd group crashes down and a massive albino minotaur appears in the rubble. As you turn to look, you catch the eye of Eldrina and then the door slams suddenly.

Baenroth is still feeling woozy and dazed. The idea of bouncing along on a horse's back is not very appealing right now, but neither is being gutted by drow. Again.

"Sir Corelief, thank you for your aid. You are right, let's start putting distance between ourselves and this prison. We can try to get our bearings as we go and decide where we all wish to go later. Though, if someone paid to have us released, I suspect they will also have some task they wish us to perform, and are likely waiting to meet us on the road. I just hope they brought clean clothes and some fresh water. Hyah!" Baenroth spurs his horse in the direction of "away from here."
Aug 26, 2019 3:38 pm
As you start to move, the horses seem to know where they are taking you, regardless of any movements you try to do.

You are a in a desert and it is desert as far as you can see. The sun beats down and you just realize how long its been since you've had food or water. The desert continues, seemingly forever, but the horses keep on trekking. Suddenly, in the distance, a town begins to appear.
Aug 26, 2019 8:38 pm
Baenroth sways weakly in the saddle, his eyes drooping as he fights off a black out. "Does... anyone else see... that? Or *cough cough* is it a mirage?"
Aug 26, 2019 8:57 pm
"The village ? It looks real."
Aug 26, 2019 9:38 pm
Corelief is aleady sweltering with out really any means to protect himself, he calls to the others Horses are guided. Do your best not to fall off them. while traveling.

Yeah it looks like one. See where the horses take us. Corelief is thirsty, hungry, and in dire need of rest. That is sides being without much of anything to speak of.
Aug 27, 2019 1:30 pm
As you reach the edge of the town, the horses stop suddenly and make their way towards the nearby stable for a drink. A gnome walks around the building and shakes his head, then looks around.

Where's Eldrina? She was supposed to come back with you? Oh well, I am sure she is fine. Little can hurt the demi-Gods. Unless you also encountered a demi-God. Did you see a demi-God? No, no, surely not. He motions to you. Come, come. Lots to do and not so much time. He begins walking away.
Aug 27, 2019 1:39 pm
Darastrix looks for water.

At the appearance of the gnome, "She, remained behind to fight some drow."
Aug 27, 2019 1:48 pm
He stops. Not unexpected. You didn't see a female drow with silver hair and no face, did you? Or a Male drow the size of a halfling?

Baenroth follows the horses and drinks from their water trough, heedless of the fact that animals share it. He splashes some on his face, and in his hair. He then becomes aware that the gnome was speaking to his companions. "Oh, no. No one like that. Who are you? Why are you helping us?"
Aug 27, 2019 4:31 pm
I'll explain everything inside. Never know who is listening outdoors.
Aug 27, 2019 10:17 pm
Corelief notes the exchanges and dismounts his horse and lets it do as it wishes. He follow the gnome.

I sure hope you can explain all that has happened and that best would be for food and drink. We are all very weary.
Aug 28, 2019 1:53 pm
"Yes indeed," agrees Baenroth, "Food and drink and explanations would be most welcomed. Please, good gnome, lead the way!"
Aug 28, 2019 2:48 pm
You follow him to a run down shack, the door is slightly taller than him. Come, come. As you duck down, some of you farther than others, and enter the shack, the inside does not reflect the outside.

The inside is extremely spacious. The ceiling is 10' high and there seem to be dozens of rooms. Currently there is a large table with all sorts of fresh fruits and meats and ales and water spread all across it.

Sit, sit and I will explain as you eat! He makes his way to the front of the table.
Aug 28, 2019 3:00 pm
Darastrix makes good use of the food and water while awaiting the explanation.
Aug 28, 2019 4:36 pm
"Oh my. The magic used to make this building is incredible!" Baenroth is amazed by the possibility of putting a larger space inside a smaller one, but not so much that he forgot his hunger and thirst. he continues to gaze around in awe as he finds his way to the food and drink. "Sir gnome, are you the architect of this place?" he asks around mouthfuls of food.
Aug 28, 2019 8:01 pm
I am indeed. I possess great power, but my days of adventuring are over. He pulls out a pipe and lights it. I am a member of a secret society known as The Prophets. We have been tasked with keeping balance in the world. The Oracle told us of prisoners being held in Devil's Tower, so we hired Eldrina to rescue you. Seems like she succeeded.
Aug 28, 2019 8:36 pm
Baenroth looks down, with a heavy expression, recalling his own near death, and Eldrina's heroic decision to remain behind. "Yes. Though we nearly ruined her efforts though our own hubris, and she may now have paid the ultimate price..." He is silent for a moment before speaking again, "But sir, we aren't, or at least I'm not, of your organization. Why risk your coin and necks for us?"
Aug 28, 2019 9:28 pm
I thank you for arranging our escape, but to what end have you proposed. Nothing in this world is free.
Aug 29, 2019 1:44 pm
We risked ourselves because the Oracle told us to. She is our leader and sees things we cannot, particularly the future. She doesn't always have a clear picture, but she did say the prisoners of Devils' Tower would play a part in saving this world. As for payback, I merely ask for help. Our numbers are dwindling and we could use capable warriors to boost our numbers. It would be a risk though, as you are now fugitives. But The Prophets can provide a little protection. We have members and friends in fairly high places. Given time, we may even be able to eliminate your fugitive status. He takes a deep drag from his pipe and releases the smoke in the shape of a dragon.
Aug 29, 2019 1:52 pm
"Fugitives, yes... I don't even know what crime I supposedly committed! I was simply kidnapped one day and woke up in that tower. At some point there was a change of the guard, but I don't know anything about why I was taken or why I was kept there. Are you saying there was some legal justification for our imprisonment?! And now people will be hunting us?!" Baenroth stops himself and takes a breath. "I'm sorry. I am not frustrated with you or your organization, I'm just flustered. I apologize for raising my voice. You have been a most gracious host. Certainly, I am willing to help, though I must ask, will we ever be able to return to our homes?"
Aug 29, 2019 6:54 pm
"Saving the world ? What threatens the whole world that we could possibly overcome ?"
Aug 30, 2019 2:53 pm
Lots of things threaten the world and you'd be surprised what you can overcome with the right resources.
Aug 30, 2019 8:58 pm
"I am at one with the world, so I have an interest in protecting it then."
Aug 30, 2019 9:28 pm
Corelief smirks Yeah what a good meal and sleep can do.
Sep 3, 2019 4:00 pm
OOC:
Lilcyra haven't heard from you in a while.
Sep 4, 2019 1:32 pm
Having ignored Baen temporarily, the gnome looks at him. I know not your past nor your supposed crimes. All I know is that for the time being, you cannot return home and that you will be considered fugitives. In all likelihood though, it will probably only be the drow looking for you. Once we can uncover their plot and stop them from continuing what was happening in that prison, that should all be in the past.
Sep 4, 2019 1:47 pm
"Then it is in our own personal interest to help you, as well as the interest of the world, and our duty to repay our rescuers. Certainly, good gnome, you have pledge of service, until this threat is eliminated. But there is one thing I would ask of you, to help aid us in whatever quests or missions we might undertake for you. You are clearly a Magus of great talent and power, may I copy any spells from your books for my own use?"
Sep 4, 2019 1:57 pm
Aid I can provide in some regards. My direct resources are limited, but The Prophets as a whole have many resources. As far as my spell book goes, It has been many years since I have actually used it. I'd need to find it. Most times I am provided with scrolls from The Prophets, but I will see if I can find my book.
Sep 4, 2019 6:18 pm
As you all look around, it seems as though Lilcyra has disappeared.

What is everyone doing?
Sep 5, 2019 6:29 pm
Getting some sleep and then preparing to help these people come morning.
Sep 5, 2019 6:39 pm
Baenroth is going to go Trance for four hours and wait for the Gnome to find his spellbook. Then, since he will be done trancing before the rest of the party is awake, he will prepare his spells for the day. If the gnome finds the book, he will also take some time to copy them into his own spellbook.
Sep 5, 2019 10:57 pm
Corelief asks, When may we speak to the Prophets for more information?
Sep 6, 2019 2:36 pm
Well, us Prophets are many, though our identities primarily secret. Everyone knows a few, but no one knows everyone. We can pass you along and everyone can give you a piece, but no one knows the whole. He starts opening doors in his home, pointing out beds for everyone to use. Please, please, get some rest. Hopefully we will have more clarity on the next step in the morning.
Sep 6, 2019 6:14 pm
"Thank you. For the hospitality and the rescue. I was beginning to believe I would waste away to death in that place." Baenroth enters the room assigned to him and takes up a lotus position on the bed, and his eyes glaze over, ancestral memories of the last 300 years playing out before his eyes in dreamlike fashion.
Sep 6, 2019 6:23 pm
Darastrix sluggishly suns himself in the morning grateful for the heat.
Sep 6, 2019 11:58 pm
Corelief mentions, Perhaps something eat before we rest would be good. Prison hasn't been kind to us.

The light arguing awakens everyone and although it's too muffled to make out the words, you can definitely something is happening.

BAen tries to sneak to the door, but it is dark and he's too unfamiliar with the room and knocks into a table, causing it to fall. The talking stops and the door opens.

I should have figured the elf would have heard. The gnome chuckles. Good hearing and all that. Since you are up, come, come.
Sep 10, 2019 4:40 pm
"I would have figured the elf could gracefully eavesdrop better too, but I suppose it's going to be one of those days." Baenroth follows the gnome to wherever they are going. "Out of curiosity, you wouldn't happen to have some incense, charcoal and herbs to spare and a brass brazier I could borrow for an hour would you?"
Sep 10, 2019 4:46 pm
Darastrix turns off his bionic hearing and joins the others in the other room with the gnome.
Sep 12, 2019 3:51 pm
I'm sure I can find some in the library. Ah, Mr. Darastrix. I suppose you heard as well. As you enter the room, you see Eldrina and another elf in tattered clothes you do not recognize. You all know Eldrina. And I am informed, this other elf is Frieda. apparently she too was a prisoner. he motions to the table. We were just discussing what happened to Eldrina and the consequences of rescuing Frieda.
Sep 12, 2019 3:55 pm
"Hello Frieda, Eldrina. I don't remember you Frieda but the prison was large and they did not let us mingle."
Sep 12, 2019 7:12 pm
You don't, huh? I guess your dance card must have been filled. I don't remember buying tickets to that shitshow, but I figured it'd be rude to complain to the hosts. Tell ya what, Scales, when we're chained up at the next ice cream social, I'll do my best to get to you when I make my rounds.
Sep 12, 2019 7:25 pm
"Ah, lady Eldrina! You made it out alive! I am glad to see that. Thank you again for the rescue. We would still be rotting there without you." Baenroth's face beams as he makes a bow of respect to Eldrina. "And Miss Frieda, pleasure to make your acquaintance, I am Baenroth Filanthir. I assume you will be joining us on whatever missions we are given?"
Sep 12, 2019 7:41 pm
Well, let me take a look there, stretch, Frieda says, looking up at Baenroth with a smirk. She makes a big show of pulling an invisible notebook out of her nonexistent pocket and begins flipping through the pages. Left already, she mutters, flipping a page. No sleeper car on that one. Flip. No in-coach meal? Pass. Flip. Two layovers. Nope. She looks back up at Baenroth. Looks like yours is the only coach in town, options being limited as they are, so yeah. Looks like I'm joining you. Brilliant deduction. She turns her back and fills a plate with food, scarfing down enough for someone twice her size.
Sep 12, 2019 7:51 pm
Baenroth leans over to Darastrix and whispers in his bionic ear-hole, "I guess it wasn't a pleasure to meet her after all... here's hoping her sword's as sharp as her tongue."
Sep 12, 2019 7:51 pm
Bimble frowns. Indeed, we shall see about that. She was an... unexpected addition to the rescue. He looks at Eldrina.

She shrugs. You told me to save all of the prisoners. You never once said there would be a certain number and you sure as hell never told me that Silkis was going to be there. I was woefully unprepared to be harmed.

Yes, yes, that was unexpected.
Sep 12, 2019 8:19 pm
Corlief who currently is wearing slightly ill fitted leather over some tattered clothing with a Drow shortsword in a scabbard to his side. He does have a rather deflated back and empty pouch to his side telling the rest of the story. He appears to be thinned from the prison stay and still lacking a good bath.

He says with some cheer, It is good to meet you again Eldrina and you have charming company
Frieda now with you.
With a slight bow to Frieda and Eldrina, I'm Corelief. A former member of the prision, that we recently exitied.

With a glance over himself, Sorry about the attire, I haven't a moment to really fix oneself up.
Sep 13, 2019 2:51 pm
Attire is unimportant. It is the middle of the night. Eldrina says, apathetically. Can we get back to my payment?

Until I consult the Seer, I cannot pay you. The acquisition of this 5th person was not forseen. Bimble says, exasperated.

Eldrina pulls out a scroll. Our contract states that I rescue all prisoners I find. There is nothing about numbers. I recommend you pay me by morning's light. Her eyes flash red and she begins walking towards a closed door, presumably towards a bedroom.
Sep 13, 2019 4:03 pm
Where's she going? Frieda demands, food falling from her mouth. Is that a bedroom? Are there bedrooms? And beds? She practically inhales the rest of the food on her plate as she stands and begins heading toward the doors. Which of these are bedrooms?

Pick a door, it will probably be a bedroom. Most of them are.
Sep 13, 2019 4:08 pm
What about a bath? Any of them have a bath? And something to wear that doesn't smell like I rolled in goblin shit?
Sep 13, 2019 4:12 pm
Bath's can be found in the inn. And the only clothes i have are my size.
Sep 13, 2019 4:14 pm
Darastrix doesn't really understand mammals and Frieda seems to be at the top of the not understood list but he did understand baths. He would love a nice lake or stream to just float in.
Sep 13, 2019 4:40 pm
The talk of baths made Baenroth aware that he probably smelled bad too. He had ceased to realize it after about the second week in prison. "The inn, is it nearby? And is it safe? Will our captors look for us there? I could likely do with a bath. And new clothes as well."
Sep 13, 2019 4:49 pm
This town as a whole is about as safe as it gets. Clothes you can get in the morning from the local merchants. I'd wait until morning to bath as well. It gets cold out at night and scorching in the heat of the day.
Sep 13, 2019 4:50 pm
"I like heat it warms the blood, cold though is not good."
Sep 13, 2019 10:40 pm
Corelief steps up with Eldrina, We didn't get a chance to finish a chat with all the short comings and killings. Would now be a fine time. Perhaps this place can service a fine drink as well.
Sep 14, 2019 11:26 pm
"Well, I am fully rested and ready for the day. Is there a library where I could read until the daylight dawns?" Baenroth asks his gnomish host.
Sep 16, 2019 4:15 pm
Eldrina addresses Corelief. Look, I'm tired. I just saved your asses and barely made it out after another demi-god tried to kill me. He's still alive, by the way. She says to Bimble. She looks back at Corelief We can talk in 4 hours after you'd finished resting and I've finished my resting.

Bimble nods to Baen. I do, it's a mess, but you may look. Perhaps you'll find one of my old spell books to study as well.
Sep 16, 2019 4:37 pm
Baenroth heads to the library and starts searching for spell books or anything interesting. He will read the most interesting thing he finds.

Sep 16, 2019 5:19 pm
What do you mean no baths? Frieda demands of Bimble. Don't you live here? She leans in and sniffs. You don't smell like a dog's asshole, so where do you clean up at?
Sep 16, 2019 5:49 pm
I mostly use magic, but when that is not enough, I go to then and use their baths, just as I told you to do. This is a small town, we do not all have many of the luxuries of some of the richer ones.
Sep 16, 2019 9:53 pm
He replies back to Eldrina, Well then we shall have to wait.

Looking over to Bimble, I would like a pitcher or three of hot water and some towels since you don't have a proper bath here. Appears he and Frieda have like minds on getting cleaned up some.

He points to the door where he is going to room for Bimble to arrange for some water and towels and steps to it.

Also meditating on nature in the area he is now in.
Sep 17, 2019 2:43 pm
Yeah! Buckets of hot water!
Sep 17, 2019 10:12 pm
Corelief smiles. More is Merry for sure. as he waits at his door for the towels and water. He isn't in a hurry to lay down.
Sep 19, 2019 3:30 pm
When Frieda gets her hands on some hot water, she takes it to a secluded area and gives herself a thorough scrubbing, then heads off to one of the bedrooms. Keep it down out here!
Sep 19, 2019 4:20 pm
Various buckets of warm water is brought to the rooms and placed in there. Baen spends time in the library. The evening continues and morning comes without further incident.

In the morning, there is plenty of food on the table and Eldrina and Bimble are already sitting there, quietly having a discussion.
Sep 19, 2019 4:27 pm
Dara will eat in the morning and wait for the host to discuss what might be asked of them.
Sep 19, 2019 4:54 pm
Baenroth, nose buried in books, is entirely oblivious to the fact that anyone else is even awake or that the sun has risen.
Sep 19, 2019 6:49 pm
At the smell of food, Frieda's door bursts open. She's wearing a clean sheet that she's torn and tied to cover what's necessary, leaving room for easy movement in her arms and legs. She piles her plate high and, between mouthfuls, says, You didn't have anything my size, so I had to improvise. No way I was putting back on the filthy shit I was wearing. Could probably use some shoes, though.
Sep 19, 2019 9:24 pm

Sep 20, 2019 11:25 pm
So, who is ready for the daily agenda? Bimble asks
Sep 20, 2019 11:28 pm
Corelief asks, Daily agenda. If that includes some new clothing, then I'm game. Mind you I don't own a coin to my name.
Sep 20, 2019 11:34 pm
Baenroth, hearing voices in the main room heads it to join the rest. "Well, any plan would welcome at this point." he looks at Frieda and raises an eyebrow. "Ah, the traditional garb of our people, I see. You wear it well," he says with a smirk.
Sep 21, 2019 12:44 am
I'm not "your people," Frieda growls. You don't know me. Don't act like you do.
Sep 21, 2019 5:04 pm
"It's called a joke. If you can't handle being around other people, maybe you should try harder not to be," he responds with an icy glare.
Sep 21, 2019 5:11 pm
Enough. You bicker like children. With what awaits, you better learn to get along. Eldrina stands. Bimble, when you have my money, you know where to find me. With that, she leaves.

Bimble sighs. Her words are tough, but she is right. He hands Baen a bag. Here. 440 gold. Should be enough to outfit the four of you. There is a market in town and the inn has a bath. Buy what you need, and come back.
Sep 21, 2019 5:25 pm
"My apologies, Bimble, I overreacted." Baenroth bows apologetically to their host, but still gives an icy glance at Frieda. He then opens the bag and starts dealing out the coins like cards on the table, until each pile has 110. He then puts his share into the bag he took from the prison. "Well then, I shall be off to the inn to bathe and then to the market. Is there a specific time we should try to return?"

Btw, Frieda is an elf too, right?
Sep 21, 2019 5:55 pm
Frieda glares at the Elf. Her mouth begins to open with a retort when she is interrupted by Eldrina and Bimble. As Baenroth turns away, a brief smile flashes across Frieda's scarred face, amused that she was able to so quickly get under his skin. The smile vanishes in an instant, though her visage cracks much more noticeably as she cautiously touches the pile of gold in front of her, as if she doesn't know what she could possibly do with all that money.

Ha! None taken! Frieda can be a difficult pill to swallow. And, yes, she's a Wood Elf. Also, I think I forgot to mention in Frieda's description that she has a scar on the right side of her face from scalp to chin that looks like whatever made it barely skipped over her right eye.
Sep 21, 2019 7:32 pm
Corelief face show some disappointment on Eldrina rapid departure and no chat time.

But as thing progress, he doesn't disturb Baenroth as he counts and his small spat with Frieda doesn't seem to bother Corelief even enough to react to it. He just waits.

Taking his dear pile of coins and depositing them into his procured belt pouch that has been rather empty, Well this will do nicely for the moment.

Looking to ghostly dressed Frieda, who is out of place everywhere around here, Would you like share a walk to the local bath and then someplace with clothing for sale. Then he will try to find a place to buy 10 gold worth of incense, herbs, and charcoal and a small brass brazier if he can find one.
OOC:
According to the PHB the total for the items would be 27 gold, 2 copper, plus whatever the bath and brazier would cost.

Frieda looks at Corelief with disgust. Tell ya what, sport, how about I bathe myself, and you can go massage yourself. With that, she heads off to the market to look for clothing. Picking out something black and form-fitting with long, matching gloves, she has it sent to the inn, where she sits in a bath for about an hour. Corelief lets Frieda go without a returning commit. He takes a moment of thought and then head out to the markets as not much of a chance for a fine bath and massage in this place as he quickly now get and idea of its size.

He decides on some local traveler clothing and tosses his rags away as well as the cheap leather armor he acquired. He gets a new set of scale armor and a good shield. Then he selects a fairly well crafted longsword. With his more immediate war'ing needs, he then picks up many items to fill his backpack. He does get a wineskin, signet ring, holy symbol as well.

He looks good in his new armor and carries it well although it isn't the most quiet armor to don. He feels like he wishes to now.

Heads back after meditation to see the others.
Sep 26, 2019 1:55 pm
After arriving, Well we are all looking better. They have treated us much better than the prison for sure. as he enjoys his new armor.
Sep 26, 2019 2:00 pm
"Yes everyone looks much healthier."
Sep 26, 2019 2:04 pm
As you all approach Bimble's home, he comes outside to meet you. We now have 2 choices ahead of us. You can make the trek to see The Oracle. The Oracle could provide insight and guidance to the next step in your journey, but the trek is a dangerous one. Or, you can go onto the next Prophet and put some distance between you and the prison, without any sort of true direction.
Sep 26, 2019 2:18 pm
"Well, I think armed as we are, we should be able to avoid being arrested or kidnapped again. I say we head to this Oracle."
Sep 26, 2019 2:29 pm
Anyplace we can go where I can put my foot up the ass of the people who threw me in that prison is fine with me!
Sep 26, 2019 4:32 pm
A visit to the Orcacle it shall be. He looks to the others, Are we prepared now?
Sep 26, 2019 4:35 pm
"Did anyone talk to any of you while shopping ?"

"I am ready to travel."
Sep 26, 2019 5:00 pm
Corelief smiles A little bird told me to beware of the prophets. I would take that as good advice at the present.
Sep 26, 2019 5:01 pm
"Same." Darastrix nods.
Sep 26, 2019 5:07 pm
OOC:
Are you saying that aloud, with BImble there?
Sep 26, 2019 5:09 pm
I thought this was before we got to Bimble.
Sep 26, 2019 5:11 pm
OOC:
I mean, Bimble did just talk to you.
Sep 26, 2019 5:12 pm
OOC:
Dara would have asked when it was just the PCs. Sorry
Sep 27, 2019 1:29 pm
So, to the Oracle than? I can provide you with horses and a map, but I am afraid everything else will be up to you.
Sep 27, 2019 2:30 pm
Frieda looks cockeyed at Bimble. Yeah. The Oracle. Didn't we just say that?
Sep 27, 2019 3:05 pm
Right. Bimble pulls out a parchment from under his cloak. Here, he hands Darastrix a map. I've also been informed that Baen was kidnapped while you all were shopping. I am working on finding his location and the culprits and if you want to find him later, I can make that happen. He sighs heavily, The Oracle is located at the highest peak in the Red Peaks, just above the city of Trivale. I have a contact in the city by the name of Eloise.
Sep 27, 2019 3:10 pm
Corelief inquires So how many days travel on foot to the Trivale and then how much longer to reach the Oracle from there?
Sep 27, 2019 3:16 pm
If you come across fair weather and no issues, I'd say 3 days on horse, twice as long by foot. Then up the mountain will probably take you another 2 to 3 days.
Sep 27, 2019 3:23 pm
Looking to the others, That looks like a good week of rations needed. And another to play in the mountains. Going to needs some cold weather gear and tent.

Looking to the man, Think you can help us with these supplies?

I can provide enough rations until you get to the next town.
Sep 27, 2019 3:30 pm
"Kidnapped ?!" Darastrix often isn't expressive but seemed shocked at that news.

"Perhaps we had best travel in pairs at least, from now on."

Bimble takes you to the stables. Each pick a horse. Name it, endear yourself to it. Nothing is more beneficial to traveling than a horse.
Oct 1, 2019 9:36 pm
Corelief fairly much picks a horse at random, How knightly. Been a long time since I been on a horse.

Looking over the beast, Yes this will greatly help us till we reach the mountains and have to climb.
Oct 1, 2019 10:38 pm
"Spare Ration I sssshall name thee." Darastrix says mounting his steed.
Oct 2, 2019 4:22 pm
Fucking horses, Frieda grumbles as she climbs on one. I'll call you Soap, because that's what you'll be if you fuck with me.
Oct 2, 2019 4:26 pm
You all get on your horses and make your way towards Trivale. The desert is hot, but not unbearable. After a day, you see the mountains looming in the distance. Travel is uneventful.
OOC:
If you guys have any conversations you want to have that you feel are important while you travel, now is the chance. If not, I'll skip it all. Just let me know.
Oct 2, 2019 4:30 pm
"So what do you all think of the prophets and these demigods who seem mercenary ?"
Oct 2, 2019 6:30 pm
Corelief replies back as he rides, Where in a mess. But right now I have nothing else to do. It seems it all doesn't bother him.
Oct 2, 2019 6:52 pm
I figure a prophet's just another asshole who's better at slinging bullshit in a mysterious enough way to get a bunch of rubes to believe them. She curls her lip into a smirk. And a little birdie tells me these assholes aren't any different.

Corelief will lead and ride to the gates. Are they open or close. Maned or not?
Oct 3, 2019 11:46 pm
As you approach the gates, they are open, but there is a guard with large, mounted crossbows pointed towards the entrance in towers on either side of the gates.

Halt, who goes there. The one on the left shouts.
Oct 3, 2019 11:52 pm
He calls forward as he dismounts, Just travelers. Stopping in for only a night. Do you have problems with armor or weapons in town?
Oct 3, 2019 11:56 pm
As long as your weapons are kept sheathed, we have no problems. How long do you plan on being in town?
Oct 4, 2019 12:00 am
Just a night. Stay out of the before moving. There be a fine place to stable our mounts? and get a good mug.
Oct 4, 2019 12:06 am
Aye. Just inside the tunnel there is a stable. And you'll find a good mug at The Iron Golem in the Market District.
Oct 4, 2019 12:12 am
May the peace be always with you. He signals the rest to follow him to the stables.
Oct 4, 2019 12:25 am
Follows along happily.
Oct 7, 2019 5:55 pm
OOC:
Frieda following too?
Oct 7, 2019 6:06 pm
OOC:
Yeah, sorry, didn't realize you were waiting on her.
Oct 7, 2019 6:17 pm
You make your way through the gates and see the stables to your right. As you approach, a dwarf walks out. The dwarf has a long chain attached to his feet. He approaches you and points you each to your own stall. A tall human walks out and approaches too.

Go get a brush and start working. He says to the dwarf. Hello folks, how long to keeping the horses here?
Oct 7, 2019 6:29 pm
It may be quite a few days. Heading up the mountains and I doubt they will be coming with us. How much is it for some stalls?
Oct 7, 2019 6:50 pm
A silver a day, per stall.
Oct 7, 2019 6:52 pm
Frieda dismounts and stretches her back with a look of pain and anger. The expression intensifies when she spies the shackles on the Dwarf's legs. What's his story? she demands, thumbing in the Dwarf's direction.
Oct 7, 2019 6:55 pm
What? He's my slave. He says, nonchalantly
Oct 7, 2019 7:12 pm
Fine price. He digs out 2 gold coins. This should last us a while. If that is short later, I make up the difference have no fear. Gives the man the coins and glances at the dwarf, I be expecting fine care of these horses. Seems the sight of a slave doing work doesn't seem to bother or take Corelief attention. Looking outward and points, Iron Golem is that way?
Oct 7, 2019 7:47 pm
Thank you, sir. If you continue East a bit, you'll see the entrance to the Temple district. Continue East through there until you get to the market and you'll see the tavern.
Oct 7, 2019 7:52 pm
Thanks my good man. May St. Cuthbert bless your way. He looks over the party to see if they are ready to move to the Inn.
Oct 7, 2019 8:23 pm
Darastrix pats his horse and follows along adding 2 gold as well if he has it.

He will then go to this Iron Golem establishment.
Oct 8, 2019 3:49 pm
theeyetyrant says:
What? He's my slave. He says, nonchalantly
Anger flashes in Frieda's eyes. And what makes him a slave and you a free man?
Oct 8, 2019 3:52 pm
Well, I have money and he's a thief. He motions to some nearby guards. Is that a problem?
Oct 8, 2019 3:55 pm
So you're siccing the guard on me because I asked a question? Go fuck yourself. Frieda spits on the ground in front of him and rides off with her horse.
Oct 8, 2019 3:57 pm
OOC:
Where do you ride to?
Oct 8, 2019 3:59 pm
Oy! No horses in town! two guards yell at Frieda, as you try to ride off.
Oct 8, 2019 4:01 pm
Darastrix will see what they have to eat at this Inn.
Oct 8, 2019 4:05 pm
Then find me another stable.
Oct 8, 2019 4:07 pm
Yep. Corelief is right up there with Darastrix, It is a good time to leave. Obvious the intent is to go to the Inn. Corelief smirks, She can take care of herself.
Oct 8, 2019 4:09 pm
OOC:
Let me describe the travel for those going to the tavern.
As Darastrix and Cael leave the stables, they enter the Temple district. The District is just as it sounds. There are about 10 temples to various Gods here. The streets are very well paved but get worse as the go towards the poor district and more developed as they move towards the market. You travel through the Temple District and enter the Market District. The first thing you notice is a 10 iron monstrosity with no head, standing outside a building named the Iron Golem. As you approach the building, it uncrosses its arms and a voice emanates from it. I trust there will be no problems?
Oct 8, 2019 4:09 pm
Sorry Miss. It's either this stable or a tree outside.
Oct 8, 2019 4:10 pm
"Most interesting. No problems that I know of." Says Dara looking up at the strange statue.
Oct 8, 2019 4:22 pm
Frieda stands up in her saddle and shouts after Darastrix and Corelief, After what we went through, neither of you have a problem with this? She sits back down and says, "Fine." She turns the horse around and rides out of town, looking for a suitable place to make camp.
Oct 8, 2019 4:23 pm
Corelief looks on, and says to the talking statute Hmm Yeah no problem. Looks over to Dara Not that was strange.

he says as he goes into the Iron Golem, I hope the stew is good.
Oct 8, 2019 4:27 pm
Frieda manages to find a small clump of trees that would make a decent camp, about 100' from the walls of the town.

As you answer the statue, it crosses its arms back. You enter to find a remarkably busy room. Music is playing from a group of 5 elves, all of whom are chained together. there are about 6 different servers, each with chained legs. At the bar there is a tall human, with no apparent chains hindering him. The room is practically full. There are 4 seats at the bar and 1, 4 top table.
Oct 8, 2019 6:01 pm
The sight of so many chained is edging on Corelief as he makes for a table with at least 3 seats open. He will call out to the bar Service if he doesn't make eye contact or just a wave otherwise.
Oct 8, 2019 6:39 pm
A female gnome approaches you, chains clanging. Yessir? May I help you sir? Oh, your menu, sorry sir! She then runs off before you can say anything and returns with a menu.

https://i.ibb.co/9TLFCfJ/Copy-of-Minimal-Cocktail-Menu-Template-Made-with-Poster-My-Wall.jpg
Oct 8, 2019 6:59 pm
Corelief is shocked and slightly speechless. He thinks a menu?. He has been going to the wrong places.

He recovers fast Rabbit Stew, Roasted Potato and some Troll Whiskey.

He nods her closer, If you can't pay, is this what happens to you?
Oct 8, 2019 7:04 pm
The gnome glances around nervously. Thank you, your food will be out soon. She very much avoids the question.
Oct 8, 2019 7:25 pm
Hmm Corelief thinks Stranger. He is too tired to deal with this. He just waits for his food. Listen to the elves perhaps. Some drink will help his day.
Oct 8, 2019 7:28 pm
"Dwarve Mead, Boar chops and fresh leak salad thank you." Darastrix will pay for his meal.

He listens to the conversation of his companions.
Oct 8, 2019 7:29 pm
OOC:
Frieda, what are you up to?
Oct 8, 2019 8:11 pm
Frieda gets a fire going and sits around eating rations and grumbling to herself. Not giving money to a goddamn slave owner mumble grumble.
Oct 8, 2019 8:30 pm
As Frieda spends her time outside the safety of the town, the other two have their meals delivered to them, by the same gnome. The plates float around her head, so she can carry everything. Here you go sirs, enjoy your meals.
Oct 8, 2019 8:42 pm
Corelief comments as the meal comes, Quite the magic. He says to Darastrix, Tomorrow we have a long walk up that mountain.
Oct 8, 2019 8:46 pm
Darastrix nods.

"Useful and amusing. Yet this town unsettles me."
Oct 8, 2019 8:48 pm
Sooner out the better. Best we make sure we have five days of rations each for the trip. They only gave us enough to get this place.
Oct 8, 2019 11:57 pm
OOC:
What do you do once your meal is over?
Oct 9, 2019 1:06 am
Corelief himself has plenty of rations for the rest of the trip. He will get a room for the night. We meet here in morning before we head out.
Oct 11, 2019 1:25 pm
OOC:
So, Dara and Core will sleep in the city and Frieda will be alone outside?
Oct 11, 2019 1:27 pm
OOC:
I guess so. We will grab breakfast and then leave in the morning.
Oct 11, 2019 1:46 pm
OOC:
I would think as we have no idea where she is as she didn't come to the inn.
Oct 11, 2019 2:10 pm
Core and Dara have an extremely uneventful night, sleeping in their nice, warm beds. The morning comes and the day is ready to begin.

Frieda, on the other hand, has a very cold night. The desert gets cold at night, especially when the wind comes down off of the mountains. The sun light appears, though the sun cannot yet be seen over the mountains.
Oct 11, 2019 6:18 pm
Corelief enjoys a nice night in the inn as the last few haven't been so nice. He stretches and heads over to get some breakfast. And again doles out some coins. He isn't in a hurry at the moment and suspects Darastrix be up soon. Not in a big hurry to see if Frieda shows.
Oct 13, 2019 8:58 pm
After spending a chilly night outside, Frieda breaks camp and heads toward their destination.
Oct 14, 2019 2:20 pm
As Frieda breaks camp, she is approached, but a human on a horse. I heard you in the city yesterday. You have a problem with slaves?
Oct 14, 2019 2:21 pm
Dara comes down to join Corelief.
Oct 14, 2019 2:22 pm
As Core and Dara leave the Iron Golem, they get the first view of the Merchant district in full daylight. The area is bustling. hundreds of people of all races are moving about, but there are two distinctions among these people, they are either wearing robes of the finest silk or they are in rags and chains. There is no in between here.
Oct 14, 2019 2:27 pm
Dara looks around and notices the differences.
It is something that his own tribe did not practice slavery.

"Corelief, what do you think we need to purchase for this trip ?"
Oct 14, 2019 3:03 pm
Got no problem with slaves, Frieda says warily. Got a problem with slave owners.

Seems to be one and the same. If you want a solution, you might have allies in that. If you want to solve it though, you'll have to go in the city and play nice for a minute. He then hands you a note and rides off.
Oct 14, 2019 3:11 pm
Frieda eyes the retreating figure for a moment before opening the note with some trepidation. Subterfuge and making nice were not exactly in the diminutive Elf's wheelhouse. She tended to say what she thought with very little filter.
Oct 14, 2019 3:12 pm
Corelief replies back, Perhaps so cold weather gear. It might be cold in the mountain. Otherwise just walk a bit and then head back to the Inn to see if Frieda has checked in or not before we leave for the mountain.
Oct 14, 2019 3:14 pm
"Oh yessss something warm, very warm." If anything Darastrix looked worried at that news.

Corelief and Darastrix hit the market to get some appropriate cold weather gear before checking back in at the Inn. How much does the gear cost?
Oct 14, 2019 5:42 pm
Fuck! Frieda exclaims as she stuffs the note into a pouch. Well, Soap, looks like we're going back to town. She gets the horse packed up and heads back to the stable.

I'd say good, sturdy winter gear for each of the two of you is about 1 gp a piece.
While shopping around, you notice a large tent, that stands out among the rest of the area. It's the only cover area that isn't an actual building and seems to attract a lot of really wealthy individuals.
Oct 14, 2019 6:35 pm
Corelief isn't in a hurry, Let check that out. They head to the large tent.
Oct 14, 2019 6:48 pm
"Wait I don't think we should. That may be where people are sold. Let us keep on task."
Oct 14, 2019 8:06 pm
Just a few moments can't hurt. Not in a terrible hurry to find Frieda either.
Oct 14, 2019 8:08 pm
"We are not dressed in jewels or silk and I dont wish them to confuse us as property."
Oct 14, 2019 8:09 pm
Stay close. Slaves don't wear armor like mine if you fear.
Oct 14, 2019 8:18 pm
Dara follows though makes sure not to bump into anyone or even really get close.
Oct 14, 2019 8:38 pm
You make your way into the tent and you see a large stage with several stages on it. The stages are packed with people of all races: humans, dwarves, firbolg, kobold, anything you could imagine. There are also several people walking around the cages, looking at them and write notes down.

An announcer begins speaking. Next up, we have a mighty fine option. This kobold is perfect to work around your house. Skiddish, small, and easy to control, the kobold would make a fine addition to any household. Let's start the bidding at 1 silver.
Oct 14, 2019 11:06 pm
Corelief gets the understanding of the situation at hand. But it doesn't throw him off. Instead it pulls his interest. He will brush aside any stops form Darastrix and go forward. Corelief has more than ample coins in his pocket.

What he looks for is a person to be a Caddy (for lack of words for position). A second that he can take with him on adventures. He will eye the many for such a position. He looks over the many race and genders offered.
Oct 15, 2019 3:48 pm
Frieda will stable her horse, doing her best to play nice and not spit on the man, then head into town looking for the temple. If she needs to ask for directions, she tries to do it as discreetly as possible.
Oct 15, 2019 4:19 pm
As you stable the horse, the man looks at you. Back, are you? They always are. he laughs.
Oct 15, 2019 4:36 pm
As Corelief is looking at the cages, something stands out to him. A woman, human looking but green tainted skin. She seems almost feral, with matted black hair and bright red eyes. You also notice curious individuals asking different people in red armor questions about different slaves, and you could certainly do the same.
Oct 15, 2019 4:46 pm
Corelief walks over to a man in red armor, I see you have many available here. I'm looking for a strong one, but my gold seem think I need something lesser. What can you tell me. Corelief is sensing the market as he talks to the man. He is getting an idea on how expensive this might be.
Oct 15, 2019 4:54 pm
The man in the armor replies. Who do you wanna know about?
Oct 15, 2019 5:11 pm
With just two gold coins in his hand that he seems to be mindlessly rotating, he points to the green lady's cage, Can it speak and understand? It looks like that might be questionable.
Oct 15, 2019 5:11 pm
She hasn't responded to us.
Oct 15, 2019 5:16 pm
Yeah. I was think that might be a major problem, but for the coins I have. That might be all I can afford.

Looking at her again, I have two coins. Does she come with a rope leash. He slightly chuckles, I can deal with her claws.
Oct 15, 2019 6:46 pm
Luckily for you, 2 gold is the exact buy now price. He pulls out a rod and electricity buzzes from it. Back, back you lot! He waves it around and grabs the girl by her hair. He ties a rope around her neck and tosses it to you. 'Ere you go.

Rolls

Religion - (1d20+1)

(1) + 1 = 2

Oct 15, 2019 7:13 pm
Frieda wonders into the Temple District, but doesn't recognize any religious symbology.
Oct 15, 2019 7:18 pm
She'll look for someone holy-looking. Someone who isn't walking a slave on a leash.
Oct 15, 2019 7:20 pm
You see a tiny old gnome, wearing a red robe.
Oct 15, 2019 8:40 pm
Doing her best to smile, Frieda approaches the old Gnome. Excuse me? Could you direct me to the Temple of Veias?
Oct 15, 2019 10:08 pm
Corelief frowns a moment as he sees the treatment, but says nothing about it. He hands him the two gold Your gold. He takes the leash/rope and will try to lead "it" out of the cage preferring not to haul pull "it" out, but he will if he has to. Corelife is sure none of the others around cares too much one way or the other how Corelief treats "it". As long as "it" doesn't bother the other customers.

Corelief says to Darastrix as he is leaving the tent, I don't want to hear a word from you about this How much trouble is "it" being about leaving the tent on a neck leash? I'm assuming "it" has only 4' to 6' of length at the most from Corelief. Coreleif is keeping a tight grip on the rope. He well knows what happens to run away slaves and it isn't pretty. And by looks of "it's" current attire there is no question that "it" is a slave.

"Too bad you will."

Dara waited for Corelief to leave and followed a few minutes later.

He says in a rather lower volume voice meant for only Darastrix to hear before walking away as Darastrix waits to give distance, I will release her later when we are on the mountain after a good meal. Don't have enough gold to save all.

Corelief wonder how much trouble it is going to be to her cleaned up and with more common clothing so she doesn't so much like a slave. That and he has decided he needs to buy some goods yet for the journey. He wonders if he is going to end up carrying her unconscious.
Oct 15, 2019 11:12 pm
Walks along quietly after a nod that indicates he heard Corelief.
Oct 16, 2019 8:33 pm
@Frieda The small gnome looks up at you. Oh yes, yes. It’s that small building down the way. It has a harp shaped door. Can’t miss it.

@Corelief The humanoid is resisting a bit. What do you do to make her obey?
Oct 16, 2019 8:44 pm
He uses the single word "Come" in a slightly command manner but not forcefully said and he will gently tug at the leash/rope to indicate for her to move with him. Obviously this is an indication that Corelief doesn't want to drag her. It is apparent that Corelief wishes her to come with him. She may have figured out she is to be with Corelief now. Upgrade from the cage. I'm guessing she has tried to run and such. That is exactly why she is in the cage. So she may have already felt the point of running away.

Corelief tries to move her along as he is going to the merchants to get some supplies.
Oct 18, 2019 4:57 pm
Frieda heads for the building with the harp-shaped door and goes on in.
Oct 18, 2019 5:36 pm
Corelief wish to buy 2 Sacks, Bedroll, Waterskin, Tinderbox, Common Clothing, Pouch, Dagger, 2 Mess Kits, Two-Person Tent, Stew ingredients to make 8 servings, & Iron pot. A bit of a load. May have to get a porter if Corelief fails to influence "It" to help. Corelife will also get some minor meat treats. And use them to hopefully influence "it".

Frieda nervously clears her throat. Uh, yeah. I'm here about a man on a horse. He sent me. She describes the human who told her to come to the temple. Ring any bells?
Oct 21, 2019 4:28 pm
Core: you try to persuade her to do what you want, but without understanding you, she merely bats the wood away and is refusing to move willingly.

Frieda: The man smiles at you. What exactly did this man say? I know many men on horses. Some women too. Once met a man who was a horse!
Oct 21, 2019 4:38 pm
Seeing that Corelief can't get her to really move and doesn't wish to drag or knock her unconscious to carry her. He useless says Stay and quickly goes to a nearby vender while he watches her to see that she is still standing and hasn't moved. With a quick exchange of coin, Corelief comes back to her.

With motions for her to follow him and the word Come, he offers her a meat treat and if that doesn't work well he holds out both of them and does without his meat treat. And this is followed by the motions for her to follow him and the word Come.
Oct 21, 2019 4:38 pm
Frieda, finding it hard to trust a stranger, takes a step back, looking a little like a cornered animal. I don't like the shit going on in this town, she says. He seemed to think you people don't like the shit going on in this town, either.

The elf continues to smile, though it seemed for a half second that the smile disappears. I don't know what you are talking about. This town is great! Freida's eyes narrow as she takes in a deep breath and lets it out in a long, low sigh. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. She takes a step forward and looks into the hole. As Frieda moves down the steps, the dust around you gets kicked up from somewhere and gets in your eyes. You reach the bottom and start rubbing your eyes when you suddenly feel a knife to your throat. Who are you? What are you doing here? Do you work for the Dominus? You get the very distinct feeling that any sudden move could be your last.

As Corelief plies the girl with meat, she begins to move and follow, albeit slowly and cautiously.
Oct 21, 2019 6:26 pm
Corelief thinks with some relief, Well at least that works. as he leads to the markets.

There, Corelief begins hunting down his many wanted supplies. He starts out carrying them as his hands begin to fill up, he says to her Carry and holds out a sack for her to take. He isn't overly concerned if she keeps it instead of carrying it as it has her clothing and a mess kit in it that will be hers anyway.

As he look on at her, Yes, that new clothing will help. He thinks and same time Wonder how hard it is going to be to get her a bath and in them.

Oct 21, 2019 6:54 pm

Oct 21, 2019 6:59 pm
Nope. At most two bags to carry. Corelief carries the rest.

Sack of common clothing and mess kit. Sack of waterskin, tinderbox, pouch, & bedroll. Those are her two sacks.

Corlief has sack with stew ingredients, Mess kit, Iron Pot, Dagger. And has the two-person tent. Smiles. Small sack with meat treats.
Oct 21, 2019 7:39 pm
"Do you wish me to carry or purchase anything Corelief ?"
Oct 21, 2019 8:05 pm
Corelief smiles. Sure. Instead of trying to give her a second sack. He lets Darastrix carry the Sack of waterskin, tinderbox, pouch, & bedroll. Just a thing or two more to do before we had off to the mountains.
Oct 21, 2019 8:18 pm
As you mention going into the mountain, a half-orc stops you. You are going into mountain? What is in mountain for you?
Oct 21, 2019 8:28 pm
Corelief turns and looks the half-orc squarely in the eyes, I heard there is wisdom up there to be had. It is good enough of reason for me. Are you concerned with the mountain?
Oct 22, 2019 1:42 pm
All I know, is no one travels into the mountain around here without strict permission from Lord Wayworth. And he doesn't give anything without favor.
Oct 22, 2019 1:55 pm
Corelief inquires, So why is this Lord Wayworth so interested in the mountain?

Glances over to make sure she is still with him.

She is.
Well, he owns the rights to the mine underneath. He also owns the majority of the slaves in the town. The mine the mountain for him.

The elf lowers his knife completely. Still eyeballing Frieda cautiously, he begins speaking. My name is Salazar. Personal Secretary to Father Albright, leader of the Temple of Veias. Also informal leader of the future slave revolt.
Oct 22, 2019 6:54 pm
As the Elf rattles off his introduction, Frieda starts waving her hand in a "speed it up" motion. Yeah, yeah, got it. Your name is Sal. She points her thumb at herself. Frieda. Let's start fucking up some slavers, Sal!
Oct 22, 2019 7:18 pm
It is not quite that easy. We need to get someone on the inside of the operation. Someone not from around here.
Oct 22, 2019 8:36 pm
Frieda squints up at Sal. Why do I have the feeling the next words out of your mouth are going to piss me off?
Oct 22, 2019 10:35 pm

Oct 25, 2019 8:44 pm
Frieda narrows her eyes. Yeah, I knew you were going to piss me off. She stares at the Elf for a moment. So how, exactly, will you get me inside. And what, exactly, do you mean by "inside"?
Oct 28, 2019 1:42 pm
Well, you could pose as a slave, recently purchased or perhaps a slaver, looking to purchase.
Oct 28, 2019 1:59 pm
Goddammit. Freida eyes the Elf suspiciously. How do I know I can trust you? You could just be a bunch of assholes who set this whole thing up to catch troublemakers. Find people who don't like what's going on and trick them into walking themselves into slavery. She sighs. Let me ask you this, if I pose as a slave, what then? How does putting myself in the same position as the people who can't even free themselves help anyone?

Frieda: This guy is being absolutely truthful about everything he has said. You're also not getting any sort of feeling that he is hiding anything. If you pose as one of them, you can insight rebellion from inside. It's not enough to free the slaves, you have to make sure no one will enslave them again.
Oct 28, 2019 2:31 pm
Frieda laughs. Thats-- that's it? Just encourage them to rebel? She puts her hands in front of her, palms up, and makes a pushing motion. Just give them a little push, is that it? And get myself beaten to death in the process, right? Aren't these slaves shackled? How are they going to get anywhere when they're chained down? And what are you going to be doing in the meantime? Resting comfortably with your thumb up your ass? Frieda shakes her head. Look, I sympathize here, but I got my own problems. I don't owe you people anything, and you don't owe me anything. I just need to get to the other side of this wretched city and head on to the mountains. I can't get involved in this.
Oct 28, 2019 2:38 pm
That's your prerogative. If you can sit back and watch while others suffer, then that's on you. My organization will continue with or without you. Goodbye and may Veias bless you.
Oct 28, 2019 8:37 pm
Frieda snorts derisively. That's your sales pitch? Get me down here, hold a knife to my throat, then crumble at the slightest resistance while tossing off some passive-aggressive bullshit about other people suffering? Sounds like you need a publicist more than a revolution.

She crosses her arms, equal measures amused and angered at the Elf's behavior. First, don't presume you know a fucking thing about me and what I've been through. Second, what did you expect me to do? Jump up and down and beg to be thrown in shackles? You've given me nothing to believe you even have anything in the way of a plan beyond—she adopts a deeper male voice, not without a certain amount of mocking in the tone"Hey, why don't you become a slave and incite the other slaves to rebel because it never occurred to any of the other slaves that if they bitched enough about their lot in life maybe everyone would decide to quit at the same time."

Frieda returns to her own voice and continues. I just busted out of shackles. Twice! And now you want me to jump right back into them? I've got my own mission. And you haven't really given me a lot of confidence that you are actually going to be able to do a damn thing to help the slaves in this town.
Oct 28, 2019 11:23 pm

Corelief is still dealing with getting supplies and getting new slave cleaned up and dress. Then he needs to talk with Darastrix to either go hunt for Eloise or Frieda. Most likely start looking for Eloise First after dealing with new slave.
Nov 4, 2019 4:51 pm
Darastrix will ask around the Iron Golem if anyone has heard of an Eloise.
Nov 4, 2019 4:54 pm
Corelief tells Darastrix when leaves to go to the Iron Golem that he will meet up with him there. Corelief now is going to carry the goods that Darastrix was carrying for him.

Frieda steps out of the temple, determined to find their contact and get the hell out of this town. She looks left. She looks right. She realizes she has no idea where to go. Goddammit! Any ideas?

Thanks. Frieda turns to leave. As she approaches the door, she feels a bit chagrined about how things worked out. She pauses and turns back and says, in all sincerity, Good luck with your recruitment. It comes out as complete and utter sarcasm. Dammit, she mutters as she walks out and heads for the market, looking for the brewery.
Nov 5, 2019 3:32 pm
Does Corelief manage to get his new girl bathed into clean clothing? or is she just too resistive?
Nov 5, 2019 4:23 pm
Corelief, with the bribing of some meat, manages to get the girl bathed and clothed.

Frieda makes her way into the market and is probably disgusted with what she sees, as the whole place is full of slaves. She wanders around until she sees a small, hole in the wall building, seemingly wedged between two large buildings. This small building is bright pink and has the picture of a smiling iron golem on the door, with the name: The Black Ale Brewery.
Nov 5, 2019 6:48 pm
Doing her best to keep her temper in check, by the time Frieda reaches the brewery, her fingernails are digging into her palms and her jaws ache. Stepping inside, she slowly, almost painfully, releases her fists. Through still-clenched jaws, she says, I'm looking for Eloise Fairbreath. An old friend sent me.
Nov 6, 2019 2:48 pm
You look inside as you enter and everyone stops what they are doing and stares at you. This is a small, quaint, cafe-style bar. The servers are all female elves. After a few moments of staring at you, they return to work. A half-elf woman approaches you, strike that, the most beautiful half-elf woman you've ever seen, approaches you. She is 5'0 with silvery blonde hair, and very subtle elven features.

My name is Eloise. What friend do you know?

Nov 6, 2019 3:22 pm
Eloise nods slightly. And motions to one of the servers. She whispers to the server. The server nods and smiles.

This is Kara. She will seat you. Eloise says and turns around.

Well there it is. he motions Dara forward with him and the girl in trailing. Still as is proper here she is leashed as much as he detests it.
Nov 7, 2019 3:53 pm
Frieda sits at the offered table and waits.
Nov 7, 2019 4:28 pm
As Frieda sits, she sees Corelief and Darastrix walk in. Corelief is also leading a strange woman on a rope.
Nov 7, 2019 5:28 pm
Corelief quickly takes in the situation. He takes the chair across from Frieda and motion the strange woman in the one next to him. He says in obvious hope to cut off listening to Frieda about her, I don't want to hear a single statement from your foul mouth about her. as he glances to the strange woman.

With an another breath, Have you arranged anything with Eloise. Seems he is surmising that she has already talked to Eloise.
Nov 7, 2019 6:02 pm
Frieda stands up out of her chair. Don't you ever think you can give me a fucking order! And what the fuck is this woman doing in a collar? Did you buy a slave? What the hell kind of paladin are you? What, you can't get me into a bath with you so you go and buy a woman? She looks at Darastrix. And you're okay with this?
Nov 7, 2019 6:06 pm
Corelief frowns as he hears her tantrum and once again he questions having her around. He wonders where ever she got the ideal he was some saint. For sure she hasn't been around him long.

Corelief says to Dara, Lets talk with this Eloise and get out of here. He is sure that he has enough supplies. He just needs some guiding information.

Sit Still.

Knock three times on the table.

Walk into the dungeon.

You all suddenly feel cold and numb as if someone instantly froze you. Everything around you in the brewery is completely motionless, except for a beautiful half-elf that Frieda recognizes as Eloise. She approaches you. So, you are all friends of a certain gnome associate of mine, yes? What can I help you with?
Nov 15, 2019 3:26 pm

Corelief smiles. I fear getting permission might be harder than the mountain trip and I'm sure the mines aren't the safest either. I have bought supplies to the trip up the side of the mountain to the Oracle, but you can look over such and see if more is needed. Corelief appears to be rather happy with the results.
Nov 15, 2019 4:15 pm
She smiles lightly. I'm sure weather-wise you will be fine. It is, however, harpy mating season, so they will be out in force.
Nov 15, 2019 4:22 pm
"What can you tell us about Harpies ?"
Nov 15, 2019 4:24 pm
Indeed that may be a problem. Lets us hope we can traverse it fast and don't have an encounter. When do you believe would be the best time to start this adventure? Corelief is glad Frieda has spoken yet, but he is sure that tranquility will be broken.
Nov 15, 2019 4:29 pm
They are seductive. Just about anyone who hears their song is charmed by their voice. They stop at nothing to lure you to your death. If one can endure their song, however, killing them isn't difficult. The problem is you rarely encounter less than six at a time. They do have natural predators though, such as the meazel, which seems to be unaffected by their song.

I would recommend leaving at early light. Harpy usually hunt in the evenings.
Nov 15, 2019 4:30 pm
"We need something to place in our ears then someway to block their song."
Nov 15, 2019 5:23 pm
That would be effective. I wouldn't recommend it for any spellcasters, though. As it would affect their verbal casting.
Nov 15, 2019 7:04 pm
Before we go anywhere, Frieda says pointing at Corelief's slave, I want to know what you plan on doing with her. When Bimble sent us on this mission, he didn't say anything about having to work with a goddamn slaver.
Nov 16, 2019 4:13 pm
He says in the conversation in general, I do believe some ear muffs is in order. Looking over to Frieda. Rest of the world doesn't have the same thoughts as you. Perhaps it is time to learn such. I'm not your teacher.
Nov 18, 2019 3:00 pm
Before Frieda can respond, Eloise interjects The rest of the world is not like this town. We are one of the last true slaver towns left. While I do not support slavery myself, I understand it to an extent. Many of these slaves, not all, mind you, were criminals or are criminals. Some are debtors who are trying to pay off a debt. Some are war criminals or prisoners of war. But some, like I assume your slave girl is, are just people who have no understanding of our more advanced civilizations and was captured because she was easy. Eloise turns to Frieda. If it is any consolation to you, everyone of my employees is a slave that I purchased and immediately freed. Perhaps that is the intent of your friend, he just realizes that he cannot release someone so primitive without first educating her.
Nov 18, 2019 6:16 pm
Thank you that was quite a statement indeed. Yes. Letting her free here would only bring her recapture and quite possibly to a lesser situation.
Nov 20, 2019 2:58 pm
OOC:
Is Frieda responding or are we moving on?
Nov 20, 2019 3:13 pm
OOC:
I am ready to move on
Nov 20, 2019 3:57 pm
So that's your big plan? Give money to slavers, helping to perpetuate the slave trade? And where, exactly, were you planning on doing this big release of yours? Somewhere on the side of the mountain? You don't know anything about this girl, who she is or where she's from, and you're just going to take her out in the woods somewhere and let her go, like she's some kind of an animal you nursed back to health? That's brilliant. You're brilliant.
Nov 20, 2019 4:05 pm
He responds back, After we leave this place, she is free to go. I have only meager supplies to give. If she doesn't leave then she can perhaps later if she wishes. I only bind her to me while we are within this city.

Continuing on, Those options are her's. Perhaps when we get out of the city, we can try to reason with her. By my own observations, she doesn't speak our language, but to keep to the image of ownership, I haven't yet made efforts otherwise.
Nov 20, 2019 4:09 pm
"She could be owned by someone else with no chance of freedom."
Nov 20, 2019 4:44 pm
And I thought I had already heard the dumbest idea for defeating slavery, but here you come with this one.
Nov 20, 2019 5:22 pm
Corelief who has no interest in further conversation about the slavery, goes on with the situation at hand. Well then I guess we can get some ear muffs and tomorrow meet you just outside the city wall here to head into the mountains?

Looking slightly about, How would one get out of here?
Nov 20, 2019 5:36 pm
You leave through the gates and follow the wall around to the south until you reach the mountains. Once you reach the base of the mountains, follow them away from the city until you see the obvious path up. It'll be about a half mile.
Nov 20, 2019 5:44 pm
Corelief follows being guided and now has removed the collar and leash from his slave, but does urge her to follow him. He does however use the last of his snacks while doing so. Looks to be a good day as any to be moving.
Nov 20, 2019 5:45 pm
Nods and rises, "Should we get wax for our ears then ?"
Nov 20, 2019 6:26 pm
What is the cost of say WAX and EAR MUFFs? Add to Corelief expenses. For him that would be double as he pays for his slaves too.

He plays this game while they are traveling to give her a bit more vocabulary. He doesn't work on any more than just objects seen for words. He does add the names of each of his traveling mates. Even tries for mountain and trees and such.

You make your way to the location Eloise tells you and you find the path easy enough. It is a little overgrown and doesn't seem well used, but it is there and usable.

The path heads up the mountain, slightly upwards at first but it doesn't take long for it to get more elevated. Soon, you are crawling over rocks and at points it seems as if you are almost going directly up, eventually you make it to a spot that levels out for a minute.

The harpy seems to think for a moment. Then go, but find another way down. Our eggs are too precious to trust strangers.
Feb 13, 2020 7:29 pm
"We can try and find another way down, thank you for letting us pass."
Feb 13, 2020 8:00 pm
Corelief says Our thanks go to you. Turns to the party Let us proceed up this mountain.

Wrapping a cloth around her torn flesh, Frieda grumbles, Coulda asked that before giving me another fucking scar.
Feb 18, 2020 5:40 pm
Moving along Corelief will lead the way. After getting a bit away. He will put a stop and look over how bad we were hurt. Corelief is down to 2 HP now. He took quite a bit of a beating. Not sure if we should travel much further without a good days rest. Perhaps just a bit farther from our winged friends.

"Yes further on then rest would be good."

You continue up and about a half mile later, you see a small cabin with smoke coming out of a chimney. It's simple, rustic.
Feb 20, 2020 9:36 pm
That looks good. as he sees the cabin. We must check it out. Seems there is a fire burning in there. Corelief will approach the cabin and rap upon the door firmly.
Feb 25, 2020 2:38 pm
The door swings open. Inside you see a simple, rustic room. A owlbear belt covers the wood floor and a fire burns in the fireplace. There is a table, with food laid out and just enough seats for you four plus one more.

Frieda pokes her head in warily, looking for signs of danger.

Nothing seems particularly dangerous, just weird. Everything also seems to be real, not an illusion.

lets make ourself at home a bit and wait and see who comes back. There is a fire and all. Corelief points out a chair for the slave and sets himself to wait a bit.
Feb 26, 2020 2:23 am
curls up near the fire.
Feb 27, 2020 2:44 pm
As you all come inside and start to get comfortable, the chairs around the table pull themselves out, inviting you to sit.
Feb 27, 2020 5:10 pm
Corelief looks about suspecting trouble, but finding none he made himself at home. He calls out to no one in general, Okay what do you ask from us to stay here?
Feb 27, 2020 5:19 pm
The chairs move a little more.
Feb 27, 2020 5:24 pm
Hmm So it is the house itself. Well we are welcome to be here. Anything more we can do rather than spend our night here?
Feb 28, 2020 12:41 pm
Moves over and sits down, "The spirits of this house are inviting."
Mar 9, 2020 4:59 pm
As you sit in the chairs, the pull themselves and you to the table. Then you hear a voice Welcome to my home. How may I help you this evening? Then suddenly a woman(?) appears in front of the fire. She is tall, close to 7' tall. Her skin is a golden color and she is wrapped in feathered wings.
Mar 9, 2020 5:55 pm
"Wow." is just stunned by the womans appearance.

He bows his head.
Mar 9, 2020 9:52 pm
Corelief asks, This is quite the place. What is the cost to stay here?
Mar 11, 2020 7:21 pm
Frieda, momentarily at a loss for words before this angelic creature, swallows hard. We-- she begins hoarsely. She clears her throat as her face reddens at the anger she feels for allowing herself to feel awed by the woman. She stands and balls her fists. We came to see the Oracle. Bimble sent us.
Mar 11, 2020 7:46 pm
Oracle. Seer. Demi-god. My names are many. I know why you are here, the heroes of the world! Defeaters of Evil!
Mar 14, 2020 12:06 am
Corelief feeling a bit relieved now that this is the Oracles place. Yes we came here for knowledge.
