While Zangua and Domarc hold on to the rope, the gathered crowd starts to call out to them.
"What has happened? Where is Pater Aeron?"
Meanwhile, down in the basement, a large chunk of burning ceiling falls through to the ground, spraying Felor and Leth with embers.
Each party member takes 1d4 heat damage for every turn they spend down here.
Felor calls out to his deity.
Edit: A beam of golden sunlight shines down through the new hole in the holy house's roof, penetrating all the way to the basement to touch the burning face of the inhuman priest. He recoils with a gurgling, sputtering hiss, releasing Felor's shoulder from his bite, just as Mordred rushes up from behind and plunges his dagger down into the top of his skull.
The priest lets out a shrill, piercing wail and begins to convulse.
All party members can take an action now.

Standing up, Felor plants his back foot in some burning debris and stumbles.
Above, a man in a large hat and a burgundy cloak starts to speak for the crowd. "What monster?" he demands. "Who is dead!? Where is the Pater!?"
Domarc, Leth, and Mordred can all take combat actions.

Domarc barks his orders, but city life has perhaps clouded his wisdom. While Hazard and many Mezian cities have a well-developed water distribution infrastructure and firefighting brigades on the city payroll, Alband has only a well and presumably some nearby streams. The villagers seem to understand that the holy house will be ash and ruin by the time they can go home and grab their buckets; Domarc's call to action does not stir them at all.
One man, however, emerges from the crowd: a large, bald fellow in a leather apron. "I'll save the Pater," he says gruffly, approaching Zangua and the rope.
Rolls
Dagger Attack and Damage - (1d20+8, 1d4+5)

Up above, the man in the leather apron grabs the rope and starts to climb down into the burning basement.
This should go poorly, but that would be consistent
Forgot to factor in my Jack of All Trades on the last strength (Athletics) roll, so it should be straight up instead of -1
