Chapter 1: Year 1281, Summer

Be sure to read and follow the guidelines for our forums.

Sep 13, 2017 4:24 pm
Summer has just started settling over the massive sprawl of the megacity Feyshear. All throughout the city, tensions have started to climb as the queen, Jessalynne Ebonstone, has started to significantly show her age. Despite having ruled the city since the tender age of 17, she has persisted in her role as monarch. She is reaching the end of her 100th year on the throne, with a city-wide celebration being planned from the peaks of the Skyview Mountains to the Southern Wall. Rumors and gossip run like wildfire through the crowded streets. Some positing that black magic has kept their sovereign alive this long, others arguing that she is of Elvish descent and will live another two hundred years easily.

The cause of much of this tension is that Queen Jessalynne, the 68th monarch in the Ebonstone line, has never taken a consort or married. Has not produced any offspring or heirs. Her siblings have long since died off, as well as some of their offspring. Jessalynne has made no public statement of who her heir is and there are none alive now that remember the last time a regnal period was drawing to a close without an heir identified. Not even the ancient elves that reside in the hills and forest preserves have a living memory of such a time. The peerage is teeming with intrigue with many of those in ducal positions or higher actively warring with one another over how the city will contend with the loss of the Ebonstone line. There are further rumors that certain ancient families have taken to hiring rabble to execute likely contenders to the throne from their rivals' families.

Among the Guilds, life is the same as always: craft and sell, barter and build. The one bit of intrigue happening here is that the Sparksteel Guild is starting to falter on producing strong enough wizards of their own to run all of the trains on the Adamantine Rail. For the first time in history, they are seeking magic users from elsewhere in the city to train to run one of the prestigious trains to relieve some of the burden.

All of the political intrigue is lost on most of the common-folk. While it makes for expansive conversation fodder, and indeed it has done so with nearly every eatery featuring some collection of people loudly proclaiming their thoughts on the monarchy, they face different struggles. The few massive farmsteads in the world are struggling to produce enough food to supply every hungry mouth in the city. Recent spates of bad weather, mixed with raids by the nefarious goblinoids that inhabit the caves and hills around the shore have cut supplies of grain and meat slim in some areas. While food riots haven't started yet, there are several slum communities where people are going three and four days without food as a regular matter of course.

Within the streets of Feyshear, roving gangs harry and harass well-to-do citizens. Their control can stretch over a few blocks in some cases to as much as an entire duchy in others. One of the most well-known of these groups is The Black Hand. A ruthless gang of children and early adolescents, they are well known for cons and general thievery. Several of these gangs harbor deep hatred for not only the Green Legion, but for the other gangs as well. It is not an uncommon sight to watch dozens of men and women clashing in street fights, only to end with no territory gained or lost on either side, but a pile of dead bodies left in the streets.

Finally, a significant increase of activity has happened in Greenfall Woods. More Fey have come through the gate now than any other time in recorded history. Some think it's because of the ending of Queen Jessalynne's reign. Others say something is happening in the Feywild that is causing them to have to depart. No one can get a straight answer out of the capricious creatures.

On this day, you all find yourselves in The Grand Bazaar, near the very middle of the city. Your reasons for being there are your own. You could be shopping, possibly performing, maybe seeking to convert some of the huddled masses. However, as the day has wound on, and the sun has crept higher and higher into the sky, you have all settled into one of the large central squares at your own separate tables, to enjoy a quick lunch in the pleasant weather. This particular square is about six hundred feet to a side and features all manner of food carts along the perimeter, with scattered tables and chairs and benches throughout the middle where people are enjoying their food.
Sep 20, 2017 4:03 pm
The thread is now available for you guys to start in! Go ahead and get your bearings in the square, you have about 20 minutes of time to play with and you are all just starting to sit down with your food.
Sep 20, 2017 4:36 pm
Uriel yawned and stretched a bit. Looking up at the sky and smiling at the sun on his face. When he looked back down to his food he gave a brief prayer of thanks before starting in on his meal. He took his time eating ponderously slow and making sure to give the crumbs to some nearby birds so they had something to eat.

You see 4 torches changing color and spinning high in the air and hear a loud booming voice overpowering the chatter in the Grand Bazaar.

Come one, come all and test your strength! Try and defeat Spoony, the Giant Lizard Man! A one on one confrontation with one of the strongest men in all of Feyshear! Test your luck and gain some fame, and possibly a small fortune! People if you want to watch a good fight come place some money down on your favorite fighter!

You see an olive-skinned elf with white spiked hair wearing green and black leathers. He seems short, no taller than 4' 11" and his eyes seem to be pulsating in color, first red, then blue, then yellow, then green. He has a rapier on his side and a pan flute tied onto his belt. He has a mask with two faces tied to the back of his head. One side is white with a frown while the other is black brandishing a smile.

https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/neverendeon/images/0/00/Olidammara.gif/revision/latest?cb=20091218222625

He continues,

Come on folks! Does no one think that they are strong enough to defeat my large friend here?

A few people begin to gather trying to see what all of the racket is about.

Ahh, it seems we are beginning to stir up an audience! Who is ready to place some bets?

The 4 torches begin to come down, become a steady blue color, and create a 10 x 10 ft square. The elf steps away slightly and pats Spoony on the back, he begins to play on his pan flute as the crowd begins to form and talk among themselves on who thinks they can take on Spoony.

A young Aven hides away from the sun, peering from the shade. Both of his feet are on his seat as he munches on skewered meat.

"Remind me why we can't just pick those up again. They are not using it." he remarks to one of his companions, clearly eyeing the unattended properties and the leftover food and drink.

"Do they not see that there is enough to go around?"
Sep 20, 2017 7:11 pm
A large costumed character comes out on stage with his hands held high. A mask, that to imitate a lizard folk sits over a majority of his face. He, a fully grown goliath male, struts around with extreme expressions.
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51rQsNvLwjL._SY300_.jpg

He switches to a drum he has on his back adding a vicious beat to the tune provided. He beats for a minutes before throwing the drum off stage (safest direction possible).

He lets out a deep roar!!Who among you.... think you have what it takes to face me in the ring???!!!! Who among you..... has the audacity to stand against me???!!!

He tosses a bag of 5 gold coins to his performance partner. Gives a subtle nod to show he is ready. He lets out one final roar before marching around the magical ring glaring at his audience, beckoning.

Marie-Louise sat on her knees, small even for her age, and flung back her braids before delicately picking up her cutlery and starting on her meal. After a few bites she hears the voice booming over the square and jumps up on the bench to try and see where the voice is coming from. She stares at the tumbling torches for a few seconds, listening to the voice challenge everyone in the square, before quickly taking a small headless doll from one of her two large front pockets. She looks at it for a moment before softly speaking to it I know Antoinette, that would be fun, but I don't think it's allowed. Remember last time? Yes I know! Ok, I'll tell him.
She looks at Uriel, sitting next to her, but instead of speaking to him she sends her voice directly into his head.

ae_dd sent a note to Cosmic_Cube
As the torches come down and the music begins Marie jumps off the bench and runs up the stage, pushing herself through the gathered crowd until she's all the way to the front. She giggles and speaks to her doll again. Yes, he would look better covered in parasites! She stands there, waiting to see if anyone takes the challenge.
Sep 21, 2017 10:59 am
Uriel nods in that slow way that Marie is used too.
He tries to think back to her.

The young man sitting with Ci just chuckles and shakes his head.

If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times Ci, it's just disgusting! Tanford says with a smile as he takes a bite of his own skewered meat. He is one of the ones to sit forward with rapt attention as the dining square is filled with the booming voice and flashing show that Shannout and Vadath are putting on.

As Marie-Louise approaches the wrestling arena formed by the lights, a stout dwarf with a nose that has clearly been broken a time or twelve saunters up. OY, Scalelover, I'll take yer bet. What're your rules? he says before brushing the grease from his now discarded meal off his mouth with the back of his hand.
OOC:
A side note on Marie-Louise's ability for clarity, she can speak to others, but can't hear them back in her head. :) Though,
I like the image of Uriel trying his hardest, face scrunched up, to get his thoughts to her.
OOC:
JKL, wasn't sure if you were sitting with someone else or were plopped down with Marie-Louise and Uriel. For the time being, you now have an acquaintance, Tanford Hamsley. He's a young Bazaar clerk, responsible for collecting taxes and fees for a segment of the Grand Bazaar.
Sep 21, 2017 11:18 pm
The elf steps forward and says with a grin

Its simple, you must defeat my friend here in a bout of hand to hand combat, no weapons of course. First one to fall or give up is the loser. If you win you get bragging rights and the earnings that have been given to us graciously by the crowd. If he wins we get the earnings. Sound fair? Remember the people are here for a show.

He gives a wink at the dwarf.

Do you accept?
Sep 22, 2017 12:53 am
"Okayyy..." he says with a shrug.
"Then riddle me this. If this coinage you speak so highly of is so reliable and true, why is a bristly child willing to go to such lengths for a little bit more of it?" His eyes lock onto 'the bigger slob'. He points Tanford towards the commotion with the movement of his eyebrows, clearly projecting.
Sep 22, 2017 4:03 pm
It looks like this little dwarf is scared. Is he just another coward that speaks ill but stands for nothing?! He circles the ring and speaks his words to the entire audience.
Sep 22, 2017 4:16 pm
Uriel had almost reached his second bite.

Seems like a nice day little ones. He said to some birds that nearby were eating the crumbs he gave them.
He finally finished his second bite. His eyes looked to the loud men. He shook his head and went back to his meal.
Sep 22, 2017 5:28 pm
Tanford smiles again. It's exactly because it is so reliable and true that they seek to gain more. The more coinage you possess, the more you can do because it proves a static worth, you see. Truly, you should seek acceptance to Obokorth's for a simple class. It explains it so much better than I can! He looks to the wrestling match that seems to be forming.

Meanwhile, the dwarf looks the giant lizard-faced man in the eyes and snorts, climbing into the ring. Those terms is alright by me. Let's see how ya do against a proper Sparksteel pickswinger. he says, lifting his arms into a grappler's ready stance. His clothes are heavy cloth, reinforced in areas with patches and leather.

Spoony watches the dwarf enter the ring. He looks him up and down and waits for his partner to deliver the starting tone. A sharp bell like sound pierces the air and Spoony rushes the Dearf Immediately. They meet in a lock.
Finally!!! Try not to lose too soon!! Spoony throws the dwarf into the ropes and delivers a devestating clothes line as the dwarf goes down. Spoony pulls him up and attempts to put him in a choke hold (grapple). THIS IS THE POWER OF LIZARDFOOOOOOLK!!!!!

The Sparksteel dwarf lets out a grunt as Spoony's shot hits him in the throat. He starts to slip down to his knees, but the lizard-faced man grabs him around the throat.

Reaching up behind him, he cups his hands and boxes Spoony's ears, dealing 7 Stamina damage! As Spoony's head moves back in pain, the dwarf tries to get his own grip around the back of the goliath's neck!

Marie-Louise watches as Spoony and the dwarf start to wrestle. She hugs her doll close to her body with her left hand, slowly wiggling the fingers of her right hand, waiting for the right moment. When the dwarf tries to get his grip around Spoony's neck Marie's lips curl up and her right hand moves lightly forward like a crawling spider while she whispers Pestis, making mites, fleas and other parasites appear on Spoony's body.
OOC:
Now, because this wrestling match is not meant to actually hurt I discussed with our lovely DM to change the effects of this cantrip in the following way: You must make a DC 13 CON save (normal spell save), if you fail you are distracted (instead of taking damage), causing you to have disadvantage on the opposed grapple check. You also move 5 feet in a random direction (normal effect from the spell, direction decided by 1d8 roll), so away from the dwarf. If you succeed the save nothing happens, you ignore the little things crawling over your body.

Spoony attempts to hold tight his foe. He is caught off guard with his foes devious and direct tactic. Distracted, he is unable to keep his guard. Spoony stumbles back in a daze, hands over his head showing his pain to the audience. After a couple.of seconds, he focuses on his opponent again.
Is that all youve got?!?!

They lock in. Spoony attempts to get leverage and uses his leg to trip his opponent to the ground. As he looks down to where he wants to trip his enemy, he sees a large mass of centipedes curling up his leg. Oohh! Wait.... wha... He backs away in confusion, hands over his face and ears, alternatively.

"Hmm... hmm... hmm...!" he locks eyes derisively, his head bobs each time he vocalizes.

"No, thanks. I appreciate it. I'd rather drop by the library instead. Maybe it's only me but I feel like there's something restrictive about classes." he retorts before catching the mass of centipedes.

"Urgh! Thank God I'm done. Hey, wanna get a closer look at that horror show?" he winced as he bins the skewers. He then proceeds to join the huddled masses around the ring.

Tanford laughs as Ci offers a chance to witness the pop-up wrestling match.

I've seen a few of these street shows. They almost always have some lackey in the field that agree to challenge the other one, only to have some miraculous work let the hero win. But sure, lets go watch the circus, huh. May be fun! he quips, leading the Aven over to the fray, squeezing through the crowd as the big lizard-headed man staggers slightly, looking about strangely. Just as he does so, the dwarf manages to get turned around and secures a grip on the larger man's neck. He kicks his feet into the air, and swings down, trying to pull the big man down to the mat with a fancy take down.

With a heavy grunt, he manages to haul Spoony to the mat, scrambling to try securing a pin against his now prone opponent.

Just as he gets on his back, he manages to dig his heels into Spoony's side, sitting up cheering his success at pinning the big man!

Spoony tries desperately to get up from the ground, but the wily Sparksteel dwarf has dug in his heels just too well, coupled with the massive shot on the goliath's ears earlier give him a hard time. He tries to escape the pin and cannot! The dwarf stands on Spoony's back, triumphant in his victory.

Was a good tussle, Scalelover. You've never met a deep miner though, have ye? He says as he steps off and holds a hand out to the massive man, offering to help him up. M'name's Hosterlig Undershaper. Good to meet you - umm - lizardman?

Not bad Spoony. You’ll get them next time.

Vlur says putting away his pan flute.

Hosterlig, that was some good wrestling. We should talk some and maybe you can join our troup. Also, nice use of insects as a follower of Olidammara I can appreciate a good trick. Lets clean up and talk.

Vlur begins washing his face as the olive skin turns a purplish blue and his eyes stay a solid yellow.

Insects? I don't fight dirty bub. I just grew up hard, and grew up strong. Been mining since this one's parents were a gleam in his grandparent's eyes, neh? Either way, I'm set for my work. Just made foreman in the Vein. he says, glancing just a touch at Vlur's vanishing complexion. Look, you two seem a good lot, and Shannout there is a good scrapper. You ever decide to find honest work, you may want to check in down at Headquarters. I think old man Sparksteel is starting to realize he has to look outside the clans to keep up with the adamantine demands you savvy?

As the dwarf makes combatant pleasantries, Tanford and Ci make it up near to where Marie-Louise is now standing. Uriel, the crowd starts to disperse, you can see the short little girl over by where the ring had been set up. A host of citizens start meandering through the square. Dwarves in workers clothes, others in silk and velvet regalia. You hear someone start to holler about making space on one side of the square. An elf in a floor-length black coat with purple vest underneath walks easily through the crowd, ignoring those around him.

Birds fly overhead, as the summer breeze stiffens, blowing through the open courtyard. With the wrestling match fading, the din of the nearest bazaar square, some 400 feet away spins back to its normal cacophony of vendors hawking wears.

You see a man in a purple cloak with green and black trim, tattered to the point of being more holes than it is material, run up to the elf in the long coat and begin to babble at him. It's too far off to hear anything in particular, but you can see a look of disgust smear itself across the elf's face. As he raises a hand to brush aside the raggedy looking person before him, a curved spectral blade, like that of a scythe, bursts forth from his chest as another man, in similar regalia as the raggedy interloper but with an inky black hood pulled over his head, shimmers into existence about 25 feet behind the elf.

The black-coated man looks down, hands trying to grasp the shadowy blade but passing through entirely. He looks up, a stunned wide-eyed stare replacing the look of disgust from moments earlier. As he looks up, the raggedy man moves, more deliberately than he had been, a naked scimitar glinting in the summer sun, sweeping across the elf's neck, sending a great torrent of crimson blood spraying into the air as the lean faced elven head sails away, bouncing just slightly as it hits the ground.

The wildly grinning man in the better purple cloak laughs and begins yelling aloud, Fhaagathra! Phl'gw'nathi crwlagrah C'thalet Pwgra nghsossotha!

Marie-Louise turns back to the elf just in time to see his head come off. She hears the hooded man speak and starts to laugh softly. She ignores Uriel calling for her and watches Vlur and Shanou move and starts to laugh harder as the raggedy man falls on the floor. Her laughter is joyful with the slightest hint of creepiness. Very sudden her laughter stops and her eyes focus on the black hooded figure. With a twisting motion her hand shoots out in front of her. Raccapricciante! A very wicked smile appears on her face as the beam of energy flows from her hand towards the figure, making her eyes sparkle darkly.

Ci walks over and scoops up the gory head as little Marie-Louise giggleblasts her way into the confrontation. However, the chuckling that seems to have taken over her body sends her cast awry! Instead of striking the black-hooded man, it sails wide, making unfortunate contact with a pigeon that had been swooping in to peck at the crumbs of food on the ground. All that was left in that wake, was a puff of feathers and an aborted squawk.

The black-hooded man turns to look at Marie-Louise, his death's head smile stretching wider yet. One gaunt finger reaches up to touch his throat, as his lips mumble a word. Suddenly his voice booms out, vastly louder than it should be.

Marie-Louise, you feel very inspired by Shannout's words. Uriel carries you away from the carnage, you are now 55 feet from the Raggedy Man and the headless elf. About 80 feet from where you all last saw the Black-Hooded Man.

As Shannout drops his concentration, the bright light surrounding everyone fades away. The few clouds in the sky have broken, and the square is now bathed in bright, direct sunlight.

17 vs. Vlur's AC. 4 slashing damage.
OOC:
As this is the first damage dealt to a player in combat, I'll note this here. I will let you know the result of their attack rolls, as well as the damage they deal in a red-text entry like this so you can determine any reaction abilities you'd like to use. This information will not include any resistance (1/2 damage, rounded down), reduction, or vulnerability (2x damage) that your character may get. It is up to you to account for those modifiers.

It's a bit less risky than your normal tabletop form would have it, since you usually wouldn't know the actual result, so it's the "would adding +2 to my AC here save me, if not, I won't do it". However, I feel it is far more fun to NOT waste super limited abilities like the Goliath stoneskin thing. If, after I post something like this, you want to use a reaction to offset the damage or boost your AC (cton's gloves, for example), just let me know in your next post and I'll edit my post to reflect it.

As Marie-Louise's mental voice echoes through the crowd's head in the immediate vicinity, you hear a smattering of yells and questioning, stuttering, remarks. The crowd bolts, running full on away from where Uriel and Marie-Louise are standing.

When Ci lands, the man's eyes widen slightly and his mouth works silently, clearly hearing Marie-Louise's voice. Turning to run away from where he is, he darts into the nearby stall, throwing a table laden with piles of spices over onto the ground, sending a cloud of dust into the air.

Secret Roll

Oct 17, 2017 5:36 pm
As Marie-Louise's dissonant melosy pierces the man's conciousness, you watch his face scrunch up tightly, before his eyes fly open for a split second and a shrieking scream rips from his lungs. In an instant as fast as the scream started, it stops, and the man falls limply in Shannout's grip.

Combat is over, the raggedy man is stable and the black-hooded man is now dying in Shannout's grip.
Oct 17, 2017 5:42 pm
Uriel reaches down to help Marie up.

I don't quite understand what happened but I am glad your ok.
Oct 17, 2017 7:52 pm
Seeing that the fiasco appears to have been quelled as mysteriously as it erupted, Ci double takes as his self control slowly slips. He then rushes back to the fallen halfling. "We need help!" he screams. "Somebody! Anybody!"
Oct 17, 2017 8:15 pm
In the matter of a few minutes, you hear the unmistakable sound of plate armor boots on the smooth stones of the square. A group of four Green Legionnaires jog smoothly up to the fallen elf, whose blood is now spread over a good ten foot wide circle of cobbles. The four are resplendent in their hallmark armor. Blackened silver plate, with a rich green cloak edged in black cascading down their backs. Their helms adorned with the sweeping mohawk of green bristles. The handle of a massive sword peeking out over their shoulders as a mace swings from their hip.

Quickly, they talk among themselves before turning to see you all crowded near the Bazaar's entrance.

Oy! You lot! C'mere! one of the four cries out, signaling to the group as the most out of place looking collection of bodies in the area.
Oct 17, 2017 9:34 pm
Good Morning and may I pass on Olidammara's blessings upon you. We have some presents for you. These two ruffians who decided to break up our performance.

Vlur points at the raggedy and hooded man.

I was able to keep one alive but this last one here I haven't had a chance to take a look at. He refused to surrender and then kind of just screamed and passed out.
Oct 17, 2017 9:36 pm
Uriel waited to see what Marie had to say.
Oct 17, 2017 11:58 pm
Urgh.... just when I get a hand on you. VADATH!! Shannout takes the body over his shoulder running to his troopmate.
Oct 18, 2017 1:22 am
"Wait. What? What about them?" he exasperates before he sees the giant hoist the hooded villain. He follows suit by slinging the woman's arm around his nape and hobbles towards the men.
Oct 18, 2017 8:53 am
Marie-Louise reaches up to Uriel, grabbing his hand. I had fun, I'm sorry if you couldn't finish your meal because of me... Let's go talk to them, I don't know if anyone else understood what that man was screaming... She walks with Uriel to the assembled men, making her face look like she was about to break down and cry; big watery eyes, trembling bottom lip. She waits for a moment of silence, hugging Antoinette tightly to her chest and then thinks to everyone in sight except Uriel, in a very sad and scared tone. Has anyone seen my mommy? I have to put her head back on before daddy gets sad...
Oct 18, 2017 3:48 pm
Your group makes their way over to the assembled guards. One of the four, in the back corner, whirls around looking for where the voice piercing his mind is coming from.

The leader, the one that beckoned you over, pulls his helm off, revealing a haggard looking man in his mid 40's with gray hair streaking the otherwise brown scruff across his head.

You say they broke up your performance? Do you have a permit to show that you were authorized to perform in the Bazaar today? Look - ugh - do any of you know who this is? he says, gesturing down at the dead elf. And why does the feathered one there have a dead halfling over his shoulder?
Oct 18, 2017 4:01 pm
I just know violence broke out. I was going to leave but I couldn't when I saw this girl here in the midst of it.
Oct 18, 2017 10:02 pm
I do know know who that person is, We just saw them dead with one of these miscreants hovering above them yelling some weird language. If you want I can bring him back to and you can do an investigation on him.

He points to the raggedy man on the floor.

In terms of those papers, let me see if I can find those.

Vlur looks about his person and begins to look quite unhappy.

Hmm. . . it seems that I must have misplaced them during the scuffle. Can we say that our act was spreading the teachings of Olidammara of togetherness and having a grand old time? The people loved it!

Well, we'll overlook the permit issue. The murder of a knight of the realm is far more sinister than a simple civil permitting issue. We're going to be up to our asses in paperwork just trying to figure out who the Hells this was. We can bring him back, but thank you for doing what you could. the leader said, looking at you all with a sense of exhaustion. Look, truth be told, this isn't the first thing like this that's happened. This is the first time we got here and actually had a suspect. Everything else has been "man in a black hood showed up, killed someone, and then disappeared". It's been a damn nightmare. He kneels down by the dead knight.

One of the other guards steps forward and quickly whispers in the leader's ear. The older man nods and looks back at you. You said he screamed? Do you know what he said? Actually, look, would you all be will to come down to our station house? It would be good if we could collect some more information from you all where it's a little more comfortable.
Oct 19, 2017 4:29 am
Ci gasps. He looks at the halfling one last time before laying her down on the streets.
He steels himself. "So what's the body count? I know next to nothing about this debacle but I am willing to lend a hand. Maybe take some load off your shoulders. I'm up for anything, willing and able."
Oct 19, 2017 1:09 pm
Uriel looks at the bird man with a bit of wonder and awe.

Then back to the Legion, "I will help as best I can, but did not see everything. Marie do you wish to go ?"
Oct 19, 2017 3:45 pm
Shannouts eyes water a moment as he drops the unconscious body. This is common? But... they are taking lives.... why... He rakcs his mind with sadness. He goes quit a moment and smacks his cheeks. I cant let oppression stand. I shall help however I can. He looks hopefully to Vadath.
Oct 19, 2017 3:53 pm
Marie-Louise looks at Uriel, no longer looking sad, just a bit bored, only speaking to him. I rather go and play a game of hide and speak, not much interesting about those servants of C'thalet, let their souls feed him, not ours... She turns to the leader, staring straight at him. You are boring. Let those men be dead, they were bad men. He killed that woman for his demon C'thalet and now he is killed as well. This is all I want to tell, I don't want to come with you.
Oct 19, 2017 4:31 pm
Sure, why not I don’t have anything else to do. Lets go.

He motions to Shannout that he is onboard. He then moves his mask back to behind his head, realizing it was still on his face.

Besides, this could be interesting.

Vadath gives a wide grin.
Oct 19, 2017 4:35 pm
I shall take this wee one home, then I could go to where you will ask questions.
Oct 20, 2017 2:23 am
The leader looks down at Marie-Louise as her voice fills his head.

That was you? Talking about finding your mother's head? Thank you for the information little girl. It probably is best if your - um - your friend there takes you back home. This kind of mess is not the business for a little sprout like you. he says, his voice starting to tinge just slightly more patronizing than it was before.

Oct 20, 2017 7:14 pm
Marie-Louise's eyes burn with fury, staring into the leaders eyes. Suddenly she bends her head and looks at her headless doll. Yes I know I haven't told him I dealt with that black hooded figure. He clearly doesn't know who he's talking to. What do you think is best? Aha, yes... Let me ask... Marie reaches with her free hand into the front pocket of her dress and pulls the head of Antoinette out by one of its black braids. Marie stretches her arm towards the leader who now has two sets of big green eyes staring at him. Could you please hold on to her head? Antoinette wants to look at you while we decide what to do with you.
Oct 20, 2017 7:28 pm
The man chuckles softly as the small girl in front of him holds out the doll's head. So you dealt with the black hooded figure did you? You must be very brave little girl. Let me see the head there, looks a lot like the dolly my daughter plays with at home. he says, taking Antoinette's head from Marie-Louise.

Antoinette, you said her name was? Well, Antoinette, it's very nice to meet you. Why aren't you on your body any more? he says, his voice softening into what is clearly a common 'parental' tone for him.
Oct 20, 2017 8:05 pm
Uriel smiles. "She is very brave, braver then most."

Uriel seems proud.
Oct 21, 2017 9:55 am
Marie-Louise's eyes twinkle darkly as the man addresses the doll's head. She looks down at the doll's body, shaking her head once. No, I don't know why he talks like that. Tell him that? But you said - she then cringes like she's being yelled at and without another word looks up at the leader again. Mama gave me Antoinette for my birthday, to show me what a sweet little girl looked like, the same year papa made the guillotine with me. I tested it with rats, but mama didn't like that. She hit me and yelled at me. Then I took Antoinette's head off, we became best friends. She helped me with mama's head, but we didn't think about papa. He was so sad. Marie-Louise suddenly nods quickly and she slowly reaches for Antoinette's head, but wiggling her fingers slightly like she's ready to cast a spell at any second, if needed.
Oct 22, 2017 12:25 am
The man stands back up straighter a little bit, looking at the severed line where Marie-Louise clearly cut the head of her doll off the body. Uhm, yes. You shouldn't just go - I mean - she... his voice trails off a little bit as he absent-mindedly handed Antoinette's head back to the little girls. Are you sure you won't come back to the station house with all of us? We can get some tasty drinks for everyone, and I'm pretty sure I can find some cookies or other sweets. I'd really like to know a little more about mama, if you and Antoinette would like to walk with us.
Oct 22, 2017 5:32 pm
Marie-Louise puts Antoinette's head back in her pocket, and smiling brightly takes a few steps back, sending her thoughts into everyone's mind except Uriel. Are you going to look for mama? I miss her so much! We can fix her head and papa will no longer be sad or angry. Thank you so much sir for helping me. Once we find mama and fix Antoinette we can be finally be happy again! She turns and reaches for Uriel's hand, sending her thoughts just to him this time. Will you please carry me with you all and keep me safe? I don't know if we should trust this man, but if he is the one that will handle C'thalet we should help him.

Uriel nods and lifts Marie up easily so she can ride on his shoulders.

Please Sir lead on. We shall follow.
Oct 22, 2017 7:30 pm
Then it’s settled lead the way!
Oct 23, 2017 1:15 pm
The man smiles at Marie-Louise as Uriel picks her up and plops her down on his shoulders. Excellent, I really appreciate this. Mikhail, run over to the Bazaar offices. They'll want streetcleaners out here soon. Bevin, could you run and get the gravediggers? We'll need them to take possession of the bodies. Dwerin, stand guard over the scene until Bevin returns with the diggers, huh? Keep this one with you and all three of you can escort him back. Looks like he'll be out a while. We'll all meet back at the station house. the leader says, dispatching the other three guards to their duty before turning back to you all. My name is Aedwin, by the way. Aedwin Rickthofer. It's about a five minute walk to the station house. he says gently to you all before setting out through the nearby Bazaar exit after placing his crested helm back on his head. You follow him through winding streets, though people tend to move out of the way of the Legionnaire pretty expeditiously.

After the promised five or six minute walk, you see a squat stone building in the distance, with a pair of Legionnaires standing out front, halberds at attention, on permanent guard. You make your way to the door with Aedwin in the lead. G'day lads. A few witnesses to some of the hostility in the Grand Bazaar. Going to get some statements. he explains casually. The guard to the right nods and you proceed through the heavy oaken door. Past a welcome desk and down a narrow hall, he leads you to a medium sized room replete with comfortable looking seats and a few scattered tables.

If you'd all have a seat, I'm going to see what I can scrounge up in terms of food and drink, alright? Give me a few minutes. his piece said, he turns and closes the door behind him, leaving you alone in the room. There are no windows, and only the single door.
Oct 23, 2017 1:46 pm
Wonderful! I do enjoy spending time with people eating and drinking! Mind if I play while we wait?

Vlur takes out his pan flute, sits near Shannout and begins playing a soft song which seems to echo through the empty room. Seeming to keep a bit of distance from the little girl. He thinks to himself.

That little girl creeps me out. Almost reminds me of mother.

Oct 23, 2017 1:59 pm
Uriel makes sure to help Marie down and duck when he comes into the building to avoid hitting his head on the doorway.
He will take a seat and make sure Marie has a seat near him if she wants.

Go ahead and play, I would like to hear your music.
Oct 23, 2017 4:54 pm
Ci drags one of the seats next to the doorway before seating on it with his legs up.
He lets out a sigh with a shiver.

"What do you think they have in store for us?" he says as he cups his face with both of his hands before running them through his feathers.
Oct 23, 2017 5:08 pm
I think just questions about what happened. Uriel then shrugged since he didn't know if they would want more.
Oct 23, 2017 9:36 pm
Marie-Louise stares at the door for a few moments. Then her eyes shift to Uriel. I'm scared. What if he wants to hurt me for hurting that man? She crawls underneath the table closest to the door, staring at it, thinking about the way they came here, and places to hide once outside.
Oct 23, 2017 9:38 pm
I will try and keep you safe. I dont think they would hurt you though Marie.
Oct 24, 2017 2:00 pm
Shannout pulls a small drum out to give a soft beat to Vlur's flauting. He sits patiently otherwise.
Oct 24, 2017 9:00 pm
After several melodious minutes, Aedwin returns, this time without his helm and cloak. He's got a basket in one hand and a pair of large bottles in the other.

It's all I could scrounge up on short notice. Just some breads, cheeses, and small chocolates. I've got wine and pressed cider both. Look, I'm really sorry about hauling you all back here. You're the first ones we've had that stood up to, or even had a chance to stand up to, whatever these guys are. he says as he looks around quickly. Um, where did that little girl go? I wanted to make sure she got one of these sweetbreads my wife sent me with today.
Oct 25, 2017 12:39 am
Shannout wastes no time to take a cider in hand. I do appreciate this. He takes a drink. Shows a gleeming smile. So there have been more attacks?
Oct 25, 2017 3:16 am
I will gladly take some cheese. I enjoy it quite a bit.

He eats his cheese appreciatively and listens as Shannout speaks. Keeping whatever cheese was left in his pocket for later.
Oct 25, 2017 6:11 am
"I didn't catch any names nor faces either. Either they are good at skulking or word about it travels slow." Ci piles on as he fetches a cup of both drinks and returns to his space.
Oct 25, 2017 9:49 pm
Marie-Louise thinks for a second and then slowly crawls from under the table, cocking her head to one side and frowning at Aedwin. Are you not angry? She sounds unsure, then slowly reaches forward to take a sweetbread and after grabbing it quickly goes to sit underneath the table again.
Oct 26, 2017 1:09 am
Aedwin chuckles to himself slightly when Marie-Louise dashes out from under the table. Shaking his head a little at the voice in his head. No lass, no I'm not angry. At least not with you lot. Angry that these men keep doing bad things in my district? Yes. Angry that we haven't had any luck finding any information before today? Oh yes. But not with you. From what the four of us saw, you all managed to stop these men, so at least we may have some peace. You and your - um - friends here, none of you have a weapon among you that could hurt someone like that Knight was hurt. He pulls out one of the chairs at a table in the middle and runs his fingers through his hair.

Honestly, this is really strange for us. The Legion doesn't usually work like this, but right now I was hoping to ask you all a few questions about what you saw. I've got here, he says, pulling out a handful of rolled up papers, some documents absolving all of you of any wrong-doing in the Bazaar today. You'll just need to fill out your names, after you review the documents of course. Hopefully it'll set your minds at ease about helping us. he says laying the scrolls out on the table in front of him.

While you read and decide, I will say that yes, there have been other attacks. None in the Grand Bazaar, nor the squares surrounding it. But certainly elsewhere in the district. No rhyme or reason we can find. I was hoping you could try remembering anything about the attack today. Something, other than the presence of the Knight, that may have been a trigger for the attack.

Oct 26, 2017 3:18 am
Hmm... from what I remember, the two were talking and then he stabbed him.

Vlur takes the paperwork and reads it over.

I don’t know what they were talking about but the victim didn’t seem too happy. I will be happy to help in any way I can. Just let me know what you would need from me.

He looks around do a bit, and says

Do you have something to write with?
Oct 26, 2017 12:22 pm
Uriel reads his letter and is willing to sign it as well.

He then scrunches down and reads Marie's letter to her and lets her know that it means they are not angry at her for what she did at the bazaar today and wont be mad at her in the future for it.
Oct 26, 2017 4:54 pm
ci falls in line, cup in hand, seemingly eager to follow the others.

"All I know is that the slightly presentable one likes to yell and he can do magic."

He takes another sip before pressing any further.

I was eating, no, I was watching these guys finish up when I heard some screaming. And then there's a dead elf, I picked up his head actually, a scruffy man with a blade, and the yelling magician I mentioned."
Oct 26, 2017 5:22 pm
After Uriel explains the letter to her, Marie-Louise's hand appears from under the table, indicating she wants it. When she receives her letter she fumbles around in her backpack for a second to retrieve an inkbottle and pen. With flowy curly letters she writes "Marie-Louise Gauchet", waits a second for the ink to dry and then rolls up the paper, sticking it out from under the table for someone to take from her. When her hand is empty she puts away the inkbottle and pen and quickly starts eating the sweetbread, quite hungry after skipping her lunch today.
Oct 28, 2017 12:28 pm
Oh forgive me, yes. Here. Aedwin says as he produces a bottle and quill. A quick glance to the table and he sees Marie-Louise holding her signed scroll out. He reaches down and plucks it gently.

Many thanks. You don't have to keep sitting under there if you don't want. I can pull one of the big comfy chairs over for you.
Oct 28, 2017 1:05 pm
Uriel smiled handing over his own signed letter to the lantern. He took some sweet bread himself munching away at it.

When asked he provides all the details of the event at the grand bazaar.
Oct 28, 2017 2:54 pm
Thanks for that. So what’s our next move? Are we doing an investigation?

Vlur asks as he begins to clean his pan flute.
OOC:
This will be after every tells their accounts.
Oct 28, 2017 3:42 pm
Shannout signs the papers without hesitation. Unfortunately,
I wasnt there from the start. I cant say I remember much after my match.
Oct 29, 2017 8:54 pm
Marie-Louise's face peeks from under the table and she shakes it once, but keeps her eyes focused on Aedwin. I don't know what else to tell you about the attack, I couldn't hear what the knight and the first man talked about before the knight lost his head. The one man kept yelling about C'thalet and once the flute man had the other man on the ground we all went for him. My friend tried to take me to a safe place, but I didn't want to go. The wrestler had encouraged me and that was surprisingly inspiring... When he grappled the man I played inside the man's head and he was dealt with. C'thalet can have them if you ask me, as a gift. I think he will try again and the chaos is interesting, I don't know how to stop him. Do you have milk? And can I have another bread, please?

After collecting your signatures and providing what information you can, Aedwin sighs. It's about like I was afraid of. Not much to go on, even with witnesses. As for an investigation, we will be conducting one, yes. as he says this, Marie-Louise fills his head with her recount. Hm, that's a name you've mentioned a few times now. C'thalet. Hmm. he scratches the scruff on his chin for a moment. I don't have any milk, just the cider, unfortunately. And yes, you can have as much of the food as you'd like.

Turning to the group at large, he casts a sideways look at you. You know, we typically don't outsource our work. We've enough bodies to manage. However, with the civil unrest everywhere between the nobles around the throne coming vacant, and the increasing threat from street gangs flowing over into civilized areas, we're a bit thin. I wonder if you lot would be willing to chase down information about this C'thalet character for me? I can pay you each two gold per day plus ten gold per person for each credible piece of information you can provide on the person. The contract would be for a month to start and you'd have no obligation to do anything but research this or things related to this. Thoughts?
Oct 30, 2017 6:08 pm
Shannout stands proudly with a hand extended to shake. If there is goos that can be done, I shall. He looks to Vadath, urgingly.
Oct 30, 2017 9:47 pm
Sure, I'm willing to help, might be able to spread some more of Olidammara teachings.

Vlur crosses his arms and smiles slightly.
Oct 30, 2017 9:59 pm
"What do you think Marie ? We can help right ?"
Oct 31, 2017 3:20 am
"Your offer is generous and thoughtful. I accept."
Oct 31, 2017 10:37 pm
Marie-Louise takes another bread and slowly nods, thinking to Aedwin.Help will always be given by Perse to those who ask for it... It's not always what you ask for, but she does help...
She smiles and nods towards Uriel as well, but then goes to sit back under the table to eat.

Shannout sits and smiles as everyone is eager. He smiles at the little girl, seeming so innocent and yet full of power. Looks to his orher two "strangers turned allies" with high hopes.
Nov 1, 2017 4:30 pm
Now that we are all in accord, do we have any leads or are we going to need to be creative? I have ways to gather information and may still have some friends that I have made through the grace of Olidammara. Some may not be the most liked by society, but they have been around.

Vlur says resting his hand on the hilt of his rapier leaning towards that other side.

Unfortunately, we haven't had a lick of a lead. If you know anyone in the University that could let you have access to the library, perhaps you could start there. Otherwise, I'm hoping you all have something of a knack for this. Aedwin says before standing up from his seat at the table. I'm very glad you've all agreed to help. Here's your wages for today, and I'll even offer you each an extra three gold right off the bat to give you a little incentive. Now, I need to go. My men should be back with the prisoner shortly. I trust at least one of you remembers the way out of here?
Nov 1, 2017 9:22 pm
To the others, "I am Uriel practitioner of the old ways. I will help as best I can." he stood protectively at Marie's side.
Nov 2, 2017 2:48 pm
Marie-Louise, puts the remains of her bread in her pocket and then crawls from under the table, looks at everyone in the room, not saying or thinking a word to them and ending with Aedwin, giving him a small smile. She then turns and walks out the door, quickly finding her way outside and waiting for the others to join.
Nov 2, 2017 3:08 pm
Do you want a lift Marie, or do you want to walk ? Uriel asked as he followed her outside.
Nov 2, 2017 4:40 pm
Vlur quickly pockets the gold, realizing that some of his gold went missing sometime in the day.

I appreciate the incentive bonus, we won't fail you... Oh, and may you avoid predictability and routine, to delight in wine, to learn music, to seek out happiness, joy, entertainment, and the company of others!

He gives a bow and then signals to Shannout that he is ready to go and begins to walk to the exit.

Now everyone, what plans do you have? I personally think that we may find some answers if we can find an informant. There may be some at one of the local bars around here. I could see if any follow the ways of Olidammara and can help us out.
Nov 3, 2017 2:17 am
Shannout bumbles for the gold, falling behind. Right! Follow your happiness and may peace come to you. He reaches to shake Aedwin's hand firmly, before putting a piece of bread in his mouth, grabbing the gold, and catching up with the group.

"All ideas are good ideas as long as we can pull it off." the avian utters with a sigh as he tries to familiarize himself with the people around him. He picks up the Legion's pay and jostles it around before pocketing it. He then proceeds to follow the troupe, somberly.

Well lets hit the closest bar, grab a drink, and see if we can gather some information.

Vlur starts to lead the group to the closest bar that he knows of.

Marie-Louise turns and reaches up to Uriel, indicating she wants to be lifted up. Once she's up in his arms and is able to see everyone at once she thinkspeaks to everyone, with a very blank expression on her face. Isn't there anyone who knows someone with access to the library? Maybe we should just go there and ask to be allowed in for research on C'thalet. We need to know what he is. I don't know if asking around in a bar will help us, but mentioning a soul devouring thing to drunk people could be fun.
Nov 3, 2017 3:50 pm
We could go to the library Marie, I bet you could find the right book in no time.
Uriel put Marie on one of his shoulders.
Nov 3, 2017 7:00 pm
OOC:
You've got two possible options the group has posed. One is to go to a tavern and see what you can shake out. Vlur can definitely find one pretty easily, they are usually garishly decorated and feature steady traffic at all hours. The other is to follow Marie's suggestion and head to the University library. I just need to know where everyone is going so I know if we need to split you up for some private adventure times. :)
Nov 3, 2017 7:09 pm
OOC:

As you approach the house, the door swings open and you see the figure that can only be Lurchette standing in the doorway in her well-maintained dress.

Miss Gauchet! You've been gone far too long today! I was worried sick! I heard about that man getting attacked at the Bazaar, you weren't there were you? Are you ok? Who are all of these people? she says, a tinge of worry flooding her voice.

Marie-Louise rolls her eyes at Lurchette. Madame Lurchette, I am here now am I not? I am ok. These are people helping me help the Legion find out more about the men killing that man in the Bazaar. You know Uriel. They're staying over for dinner and they will sleep here as well. I assume you will make the proper arrangements? I am hungry, what's for dinner? She pushes herself past Lurchette, knowing she might get away with being this rude because of the strangers. Once she's inside the house she takes off her shoes and places them on the first step of the stairs. She then darts to the back of the hallway, past the door on her right and further to her left, diving into the kitchen. When the others get there she'll be sitting on the counter, the lowest drawer opened up so she could climb up and staring into any pots or pans on the stove.

Lurchette stands, not quite baffled but not quite totally understanding.

I...umm...welcome to Maison de Gauchet. Please, you may place your things in the vestibule. Ashenone, are you a priest of some sort? It's been a long time since I've heard of anyone wishing Olidammara's blessings on anyone. It is vegetable stew tonight. You're welcome to stay the night. Gods above know that I wouldn't cross Miss Gauchet. Supper will be ready in an hour. If you are helping the Miss help the Legion, there is much we could discuss. Tell me though, does she speak truth? she says after Marie-Louise runs off.

Marie-Louise, you can clearly smell fresh bread in the oven and the one large pot on the stove contains a thick vegetable stew. It is peppery and rich smelling.

I am a holy man of Olidammara and I will gracefully agree.

He puts his things where Lurchette said to put them but keeps his mask on the back of his head.

What she says is true. We all witnessed the event and helped the Legion dispatch of the wrongdoers. Mind if I sit down?
Dec 19, 2017 4:03 pm
A big goofy grin passes Uriels face and he straightens up smoothing his hands over his clothes.
As he gets closer to the door though and Lurchette his features blush more and gets a bit silent.

She was safe with me. Uriel says about Marie. He looked at Lurchette and bowed his head a bit.
Dec 20, 2017 3:24 pm
Yes, please sit. Lurchette says, a flush darkening her own red cheeks even further than normal, her tail twitching next to her leg. If she was with you, Uriel, I shouldn't ever fear. Such a strong arm protecting Miss Gauchet. she says, her voice trailing off to a whisper at the end of the statement.

You all settle in around the table to chit chat some while you wait for the stew. When Lurchette serves it up, you find it to be thick and flavorful.
Dec 20, 2017 5:00 pm
He looks back and forth between Uriel and Lurchette. He smiles widely for a short time then continues as he takes a bite.

I think it's a bit early for the meeting? It's not even 9 yet and we have to be there at 14 bells. Besides, we haven't had breakfast yet! So that first and then... her voice trails off as she looks out the window, towards the woods her house is next to. You all leave the house, after some tasty breakfast, and head off towards the big park across the street. Uriel and Marie-Louise are familiar with this edge of the park, having spent enough time here apart as well as together in the past. The trees are thick and lush with their summer growth, and everything smells faintly of flowers and dew, even though the ground appears to be dry. Pockets of mist linger in some of the thicker areas, and low fields of moss and clover spread across anywhere it can take hold. Through the trees, you can make out the shape of figures moving through the shadows. Nearly everyone across Feyshear are familiar with the Feyknights and their retinues that stalk the wooded areas.

You begin searching around, and spot some strange footprints in the ground near a large oak tree. While they appear to be vaguely goblinoid, they look very different. To start with, they are much larger than normal. Additionally, they are pressed into the ground strangely. Where normal prints from goblins would have the toes digging in with the claws, these seem to be more towards the ball of the foot.

Up in the tree you hear a giggle and see the ruddy scales of a large goblin leg disappearing into the foliage.
Jan 25, 2018 7:28 pm
This is strange. . .

You up there, show yourself to us.

Vlur yells up, he spins his mast to the front of his head and places a hand on his rapier.
Jan 26, 2018 4:23 pm
You hear slightly more giggling, and see a few wisps of smoke floating away from the branches.

Peering through the branches, there's nothing else that you can see up there, though you hear a disembodied voice call out, a tinge of eerie lilting through the voice.

Where were you when the goblin king danced on the brows of the feylords? The green is coming and in the shade of the plants, the pixies will have their merriment.
Jan 28, 2018 9:43 pm
Staring up at the canopy overhead, eyes slightly unfocused, Marie-Louise seems to be elsewhere with her thoughts. Suddenly she reaches over to Vlur, taking his hand without looking at him and speaking out loud. Papa, can I have a pixie please? Please papa, it would make me so happy!
Jan 30, 2018 6:25 am
She speaks!

Sure Child lets see if we can take this one. You there, who is this feylord and what do you mean by green is coming.

He looks towards the sound of the voice while speaking, his voice is slightly muffled by the mask.
Jan 30, 2018 5:30 pm
With a small cry Marie-Louise pulls her hand back from Vlur, her face going from shocked to hurt in a split second as the happy memories of her and her father in the park disappear. Her bottom lip trembles and she frowns angrily before turning away from Vlur, taking Antoinette from her pocket.
No Antoinette, I don't understand either. I'm sorry! Yes... No I know he's not-! But it...
She puts Antoinette away and peeks over her shoulder, still confused about the while situation. She walks back, sighing and reaching back up for Vlur's hand, looking up in the same direction he was looking, not saying or thinking a word to him.
Jan 31, 2018 3:13 pm
The feylords are many and the feylords are vast. Lords and ladies, caught between the living and the dead, seeing all and none. They bring the green like a plague, swallowing your children and damning the land! comes the same disembodied voice, from a different angle than last time.

In the distance, you see a few of the feyknights walking through the mist stop and turn towards your group tentatively.
Feb 5, 2018 6:48 pm
Vlur looks around confused hearing the voice from another angle. Seeing the feyknights he keeps his hand on his rapier and continues.

Your riddles confuse me. Speak plainly, what is the green?
Feb 7, 2018 12:39 am
Tsk tsk, riddles are for sphinxes and treasure boxes. I speak not in riddles, the green, the GREEN. It's all around you duskwalker. the voice calls out, a hint of a sneer in the voice.
Feb 7, 2018 10:52 pm
Vlur puts his fingers to his forehead, almost like he has a headache.

I don't seem to be getting through to this creature. Little one, can you decipher what it is saying? Perhaps you can reason with it?
Feb 8, 2018 2:25 pm
Marie-Louise looks up at Vlur, one eyebrow raised. Don't you think the green is just the trees and plants around us? Pixies can hide between them and plenty of children get lost in these parks, sometimes even disappearing to another world. We have to stay out of these parks, that's what we're told, but where's the fun if you can never go exploring?! Ask him about the trees and plants! She smiles at Vlur, seeming more at ease and excited.
Feb 8, 2018 10:24 pm
Makes sense.

So you mean the world itself? The trees, the plants, everything. If you are not fey, what are you?
Feb 9, 2018 2:35 pm
Who said I wasn't fey? You bear the mark of one who has had family dance in the moonlight beyond the portal. Do you not recognize the touch of your kin? the voice says, almost as if the creature was speaking directly in your ear, yet you feel no breath and no body.

But you are astute, far more than you seemed at first. Everything is the green and the green is everything. War ravages the planes, and you are all but pawns in the game.

Mar 7, 2018 2:11 pm
The looks on the faces of the fey are nothing short of unbridled fury, however, you manage to make your escape and head to the Adamantine Rail station. A few hours later, you find yourselves standing outside the University, ready to head into the campus to observe the teacher's class.
Mar 7, 2018 10:00 pm
Let us head in.

Vlur moves his mask away from his face and attempts to enter the campus looking for someone to guide them to their destination.
Mar 13, 2018 12:31 pm
As you all make your way onto the campus proper, you can tell it's much busier than it was yesterday. The energy is somehow more frantic, with people running every direction. You fight through the crowds of robed students, managing to get directions to Sturnk Hall. A thirty minute walk later, you enter a building somewhat different from the others on campus. Rather than being stately in its grandeur, Sturnk Hall manages to come off as foreboding. Black stone, streaked with gold and red, then polished to a mirror finish dominates the face of the building. The dark doors are banded with rough-hammered iron supports. When you enter the hall, it is substantially cooler inside than out, and the students inside look shiftier than those you've encountered elsewhere.

After a few minutes, you find someone willing to give you directions to Professor Maladrin's class. Checking the magical time pieces hanging from the ceiling in the central atrium, you can see that you have about thirty minutes remaining until fourteen bells.

Clearly not an Adept are we. comes the curt little voice from under the velvet hood. He raises a hand, revealing a silver band set with a single blue stone set in the middle. It glows briefly and the door shimmers into translucency. He wanders through before turning to face you. Well duskskin, you comin' in or not?

Uriel looks around at the pair of you, waiting to see if you'll follow.

Marie-Louise, as you are standing in the hall whispering your 'sweet' nothings in the minds of the students, you see several of them break into tears, rushing through the crowd to disappear around the corner. Yet others slap their heads and pivot on their heels, heading back from whence they came.

The room itself is kind of large, about 100 feet in each direction. The ceilings are a good 12 feet tall. The walls themselves appear to be carved of black stone, though not smooth or polished. As you enter, to the right is a set of lightly tiered seating with small desks, to the left is where the gnome stands before a lectern. On the polished floor, you can see an inlaid circle of brass with various runes around the diameter.

Looking away from the little girl, he peers out over the class. Good, you are all gathered today. By some wind of happenstance or perhaps nefarious finagling, I see we've picked up some attendees that are not regular students of my seminars. No matter, it is good for all to witness the kinds of powers the Magelords used to wield with impunity. As I mentioned last week, today we are going to look at a spell that even the mighty Mephanae refused to consider using. Her notes from the time indicate that this spell was ancient, even at the height of her rule. I have studied it for many years, many indeed. Though I've not tried casting it - yet. Today, that changes. You will all bear witness to a manipulation of the leyforces of Belmoor that haven't been attempted in millennia. It is rumored that an ancient god, a powerful figure named C'Thalet crafted this spell and handed it down to his champions on our plane. We'll see just what it was meant to accomplish soon enough! he says, throwing his head back, revealing himself to be quite bald, save for a luxuriously large mustache that appears to be purpley blue and shimmery. Stitch scans the classroom, from the corner that he slid in to, taking note of each of the students unique faces,
Hmm that elf looks like he's a little distracted
I snicker to myself
I glance at the group that entered just before me.
I wonder why they are here?

Hmmmmm That little girl definitely does not look right.......

So this little professor hopefully has the key to my next progression, the tools that I can use. Looks like a show is going to be put on first though, this could be very intriguing or disastrous. Which could be both to my advantage, if it's intriguing I will speak with him, disastrous then perhaps I will be able to take something from here... We will see

Stitch tries to fade into any shadow that exists in the corner.

A man, with pitch black eyes, sitting on the end, smirks to himself, as he rubs his bald head—seemingly laughing to himself about the similarities he shares with the gnome. A black, leathery cloak stands out against his pristine white attire. To his side, rests a beautifully carved lute, with intricate design marked through out. A keen eye, close by, may note two spider bite—though much to large to be anything natural—scars between his forefinger and thumb on his left hand. He leans in as the gnome promises a great tale of a magical display.

He turns back to the class, drawing a wickedly curved dagger from inside his robes somewhere. Now observe! The words the champions inscribed and I have discovered detail a spell of grand binding. It was meant to exert control over the summoned creature, where they could be used to wreak havoc across the world under the caster's control. Today, I dare to call a mighty servant of the Abyss! With this spell, I will bind him to my service, it is the greatest honor I can attempt to the architect of the spell! he says, voice filled with a fervor few of you have ever heard. He strides to the middle of the circle and raises his arms over his head, chanting words in a variety of language snippets. Even if you know the composite languages, the collection is confusing and doesn't follow any proscribed pattern. With the final word, he swings the knife down, slicing through his pants and into his thigh, summoning up a weal of blood. As he flicks the droplets off, they fall to the ground and an explosive burst of light flashes from the middle of the room, swelling to encompass everyone.

As the smoke clears, you find that you are no longer in the classroom. Gone are the desks and nicely carved walls. In their place is a whorl of purple-black jagged stones. The bodies of many of the former attendees of the class lie in broken piles on the floor, their faces stretched in a rictus of death, eyes wide as if fear itself ripped life from the husks.

Some figures are missing, including Uriel. He doesn't seem to be among the dead, nor is he one of the ones left alive in the circular room with no discernible ceiling. Even those with darkvision can't seem to pierce the shadows above you.

Vlur, Marie-Louise, Revelry, Stitch Wing, Tolwir, Professor Maladrin, and a pair of half-orcs are all that remain alive.

Maladrin looks at all of you, face wide, a shock of white hair growing from the left side of his head, one half of his mustache missing.

I - the incantation - what - where in the Hells are we?! YOU! YOU MESSED MY CASTING UP - YOU - YOU PETULANT CHILD! he cries out, lunging towards Marie-Louise.
OOC:
Well there are are then! :)
Mar 17, 2018 2:31 am
"Do not blame a child for your ineptitude. Continue and I will remove more than your uneven mustache." Revelry steps between the lunging gnome and Marie-Louise.
Mar 17, 2018 2:36 am
How dare you!
Tolwir wastes no time. This is what his training was for, protecting people, especially little girls. He moves as fast as he can, not drawing his rapier, to tackle Maladrin to the ground. Protecting her comes first, but I still need him alive!

She then turns around and walks over to the corpses, looking at their faces with interest, giggling a few times. She searches around a bit, lifting hands to look for a ring of learned access and perhaps a notebook that could provide information.

Maladrin only has the barest instant to look at Revelry calmly stepping in front of him before he finds himself wrapped up in Tolwir's flying leap. While he somehow manages to finagle his way to standing still, his arms are tightly bound by his side. As he opens his mouth to speak, the cool edge of Stitch's dagger presses firmly against his throat. The faintly acrid scent of ammonia wafts up as his eyes stretch wide at the sudden burst of protectiveness.

What have I done!? The spell, something about it went wrong. It was supposed to bring a demon into the classroom where we could question it, learn from it. She must have done something to interrupt the casting, too close to the circle or something of that nature. There's no way I could have possibly erred in the incantation! I've studied it for years! he says, the words coming faster and higher in his panic.

Through what you can now see is a window about six feet up on the wall, a bolt of lightning flashes across the sky, though it's different from any lightning you've seen. Rather than a spiky branch, this spirals inward like a shell. No thunder follows the burst of light.

Marie-Louise, as you look through the corpses on the ground, you don't find overly much. Some clearly had rings at one point, but something about the spellcast seems to have melted the metal into their flesh, merging it with their bodies.

As your eyes all start better adapting to the lighting here, you can see a door to the north. It's unremarkable, save for gemstone set into it about 5 feet off the floor. About ten inches across, it's been carved and worked into a lidless eye staring in at you.

Alright fine. I have absolutely no idea where we are, and would rather not stay longer than necessary. You brought us here, so we might need you to get us back. Tolwir pulls out his badge and flashes it at Maladrin. But consider yourself under arrest. At the very least, you'll be coming with me for questioning. Even if something out of your control happened to kill all the students, you attempted to murder this sweet little girl. Between you and me though, I'll forget that happened if you help us all get out of here.
Tolwir looks at ML Now honey, would you be so kind as to retrieve my bag over there? It's heavy, but I need the cord for something.

Stitch sheaves his dagger, and takes a step back taking a cue from the little girl. He swallows hard upon seeing the shiny badge being flashed.

This is one crazy predicament I've gotten in to, but I've got to keep my head and I should be able to get out of this one

Revelry watches the child with an odd expression to her actions. He kneels in front of her, trying to take the attention off the gnome, and shakes his head "Whatever you're thinking; he isn't worth it. Look around you, at the things wrought from his hands; you are steps above him, don't sink down to his level." He offers his hand "There will be plenty of time for you to talk with him as we try to figure our way out of this place, or what this place even is for that matter. What say you and I take a look at that door over there, I could use a good pair of eyes; mine don't see too well." He points at his blacked out eyes with his other hand and smiles.

When Towlir addresses her Marie-Louise looks in his direction, still looking very angry. A second passes and then she sends a short high pitched scream into his head, only lasting a second. She then turns toward Revelry, a half smile appearing on her face when he says she's steps above the gnome. Her eyes move to the door for the first time and her stance relaxes completely, curiosity winning from the anger. Her eyes move back to Revelry when he mentions his eyes, confusion flashing over her face for a second. She reaches up, placing a hand on his cheek.

As you continue your investigations of the room, you notice that it appears that things which weren't permanently affixed in the classroom came with you. There are tattered notes, a few books, satchels of the various students, etc. The desks must have been affixed somehow, as they didn't come along. Those of you that have taken classes at the University recognize that many classrooms that expect high level casting will do this to keep things in place with force magic is used. If any of you had a backpack or chest in the room with you, rejoice, for your things are with you!

Marie-Louise, when you look at the eye, you get a funny feeling in the back of your head. When you spent time in the library, you saw a similar design sketched out in one in the diary of the crazy man. It didn't have an explanation, but it was crudely drawn out.

Noticing that M.L. is not grabbing the bag, he goes over to the bag that Tolwir was motioning towards, and retrieves it, he hands it over to Tolwir, saying

Marie-Louise frowns, slightly confused about remembering the eye from the journal. Would that mean Descargo also visited this place, or that the eye is otherwise connected to C'thalet? She feels stupid for not writing down the weird recipe found throughout the diary.
For a few moments she ignores Revelry's question and completely ignores Towlir all together. She then turns towards Revelry, a thoughtful look in her eyes, showing him the headless body that clearly belongs to the doll's head she was holding earlier.

While Revelry and Marie-Louise run towards the creatures, Tolwir and Stitch launch into combat with the creatures. Stitch's arrow streaks out, slamming into the shoulder of the furthest gorbatdogthing. Raising a howling sound as Tolwir cuts the other one down in a pair of vicious strokes of his rapier. The green fire leaps over to the other creature, though it seems to have a smaller effect than Tolwir has seen in other combat situations. Vlur moves to help Revelry stop Marie-Louise.

The body of the first creature falls to the ground in a hideous pile, but doesn't disintegrate or disappear. The other has fetid green-black blood pouring from the arrow wound in its shoulder as it steps up to Tolwir and attempts to both bite and claw the man with the glowing sword. However, the wound is too much for him and he can't find a good place to get Tolwir, missing with both attacks!

Still crying and definitely ignoring anyone else Marie-Louise walks over to the deceased gorbatdog, kneels behind his head and starts petting it. A few tears fall on its face and she thinks to it. Sorry, friend...

Tolwir neatly backsteps the gorbatdog, then charges back at it, aiming for the extended face. His blade hums slightly with the strikes, like someone striking a metal bar. He sees the small girl come next to the slain beast, and decides to taunt the living one, again hoping to be its target. To slow, beast!

Tolwir easily slams into the other creature, his rapier blow sliding neatly into the creature's mouth and slamming out the back of the creature's head, sending a spray of foul ichor across the floor.

The fighting is over. You all have about 2 minutes before the next threat is close enough to be seen if you do nothing, so you can RP out whatever you're doing in that time. It may change the reality around you. :)
Mar 31, 2018 4:33 am
Tolwir spins around, and standing tall, sheathes the blade. The humming stops as the guard meets the scabbard.
Turning to his Rogueish acquaintance, he gives a slight bow. Thank you for the assist good sir! May we always be so successful!
He approaches the young lady. Miss, I am sorry you had to see that, but I am glad we were able to protect you from harm. He notices that she is petting it. I-is there something wrong? He stammers, suddenly aware that he might not have redeemed himself to her after all.
Mar 31, 2018 10:30 pm
Marie-Louise continues to cry, her voice starting to sound a bit hoarse after using it so much more than usual. She looks up at Towlir, thinking to him between the tears.Maybe he was friend...

She puts her head on the gorbatdog's shoulder, tears rolling onto its thick neck as she starts scratching behind its ear.
Apr 1, 2018 12:19 am
normally I'd introduce myself to you all, but from what I can hear we don't have time for pleasantries, but then again if by chance I meet my fate here I guess my name is warranted, Stitch, Stitch Wing. And I'm sure willing to work with you all on finding a way out of this predicament that we have found ourselves in. Perhaps the professor whom I sought out could assist us in returning to where we started from, or maybe you can to as stitch gestures towards the little girl.

Tolwir kneels down next to the girl. My name is Tolwir, and I'm sorry. I wish we would have had the chance to talk our way through. he thinks for a moment. In fact, I'd say we're the bad guys here. This is their home, after all. If it would help, I'll leave an offering on their behalf at the temple I go to when we get back.
Apr 3, 2018 12:05 am
"You didn't really leave the option for talking open with open firing on them and charging forward 'Taste my justice'. If you are truly sorry, prove it." Revelry gestures to where the sound of nails scraping is coming from "Initiate with just words, instead of them being immediately accompanied by iron."

Revelry places a comforting hand on Marie-Louise "If you believe this is the correct path, I stand with you." He pats her on the back, gently "Come now, dry your eyes and stand. You wouldn't want the first impression with your new friend to be you crying, would you?"
Apr 3, 2018 4:41 pm
As Marie-Louise scratches behind the gorbatdog's ear, it gasps as it's final breath escapes its body. The tears continue falling freely from her eyes as the scratching sound from the passage to the north gets slightly louder. From the door to your north, you hear a howl and a crashing sound.
[ +- ] Map
Apr 3, 2018 8:05 pm
Tolwir stands up, adressing Revelry. W-well when a large beast crouches for a pounce, its natiral for me to protect a crying girl! And they didnt seem too keen to talk to even each other! A-and its steel! Hearing the crash, he snaps around, hand on the hilt of his sword. He looks back to Revelry, deliberately takes his hand off the blade, then walks to the door and knocks on it. Slow and loud, three times. Hello? Can we help you? We seem to be lost ourselves.
Apr 3, 2018 10:59 pm
Marie-Louise, still crying, voice sounding like she's been crying for days now, stands up from the dead gorbatdog and looks around. She simply ignores all others, too annoyed by the difficulty to thinkspeak to even do that now. With determination she starts walking down the hallway, away from the dead that will definitely ruin first impressions. She steps into the crossing of hallways, turns towards the scratching sound, taking on her best "sad helpless little girl pose", hugging Antoinette tightly and staring forward with big eyes, tears still streaming down her cheeks. She hunches a little bit, turning one knee to the inside, making herself look as small as possible. She blinks, clearing her vision, trying to see what's coming.
Apr 4, 2018 9:00 pm
Tolwir, you receive no reply from inside the door. The crashing and snarling continues beyond.

Marie-Louise, as you creep around, tears still coming, you see another gorbatdog looking towards you, moving slowly, very slowly, towards you.

A peal of thunder shakes the walls, sending small pebbles scattering across the tile floor. A loud howl sounds from the big passage south of where Marie-Louise went.

Approximately 2 minutes have passed since Marie-Louise started her crying fit. Stitch, the sensation in your mind has faded.
Apr 4, 2018 10:27 pm
Perhaps this route we have taken is not the best choice concerning the longevity of our lives. Those sounds are quite foreboding and I for one do not want to find out what is creating them. Stitch starts backing up towards the destroyed classroom that they were all in. He also directs the professor to follow as well
Apr 4, 2018 11:08 pm
The lack of response troubles him less than seeing the girl move off on her own, and hearing the thunder. Tolwir moves to peer around the corner to look south, where the thunder came from. Young miss! It isn't safe here! If he sees nothing threatening, he will make a gesture to ML Please, take my hand, we should stick together.
Apr 5, 2018 8:47 am
Marie-Louise smiles, or rather grimaces through the tears, extending her hand towards the approaching gorbatdog, like she shows it to a dog to get her smell, taking half a step forward. Hi, friend... she sends into its head, right before a new wave of sobs cause her to close her eyes, shaking her frame violently.
Apr 12, 2018 2:05 am
Stitch, you and the professor move back towards the circular room you entered through. As you do so, you notice the pair of half-orcs haven't moved, though the muttering continues.

Tolwir, as you move around the corner, you see that it's a very short hall, more of a vestibule really. Fifteen feet wide and 10 feet off the main hall. There are a trio of doors, one in the middle of the southern wall, and one each on the east and west sides. All three are closed.

The gorbatdog creature looks quizzically at you, snorting once, sending a flurry of snot and slobber spraying out, flecks of it hit your outstretched hand.
Apr 12, 2018 11:46 am
Marie-Louise's attempt to smile grows stronger, but is also fought harder by a new wave of sobs. She does, however, manage to send some more words towards the gorbatdog. She's not in the least bit shaken by the snot and slobber on her hand, leaving it right where it is.

The professor looks at Stitch with a bit of a wide-eyed stare. The mutterings of the half-orcs don't seem to make any sense to you. The bits you can hear are definitely NOT in a tongue you've ever heard.

The professor finally shakes his head. No, I don't know what they are saying. Some of it is Abyssal, you know, demontongue. They were students of mine, yes. Martek and Varluk. They are brothers. he says, his tone one of defeat now, a marked change from his first reaction in this place.

Stitch, as you get closer to the orcs, you can see that one of them has a small stream of blood running from one eye. The other is now missing the tips from his fingers, only about the last half inch or so.
Apr 13, 2018 2:51 am
Stitch thinks for a bit then quickly asks the professor do you think that these two brothers are whats brought us to this location? And I don't recall them being in any physical distress but now after we have slain those two creatures they now show some reflective signs of injury,
it's too much of a coincidence if you ask me. I think we need to get the rest of the group here

Stitch quickly calls down the hall to the group I think that perhaps you should all come back here.

Another resounding crash from behind the locked door happens. Anyone within five feet of that door, please make a con save as you notice a yellow-green cloud of gas roll out from under the edge of the door.

More scratching happens from across the room, through the opposite doorway from where you all came in (to the east of this main hall).

A soul-piercing scream fills your heads and ears, but not as if its coming from any identifiable direction, it's more of an ambient sound. Then, as suddenly as it shrieks it fades. The gorbatdog doesn't react. ML, you hear a snarling crash from behind the gorbatdog through one of the doors to the north of the hallway you are looking down.

A piercing howl echoes through the space from the hall where ML and the gorbatdog stand. The creature looks at the little girl with a cocked head before leaning down to touch his head to the top of hers. A quick glance at her, and he turns and runs down the hall.

Marie-Louise, you see him turn and disappear into a doorway on the south side of the hallway.

The scrabbling gets louder through the doorway and those of you in the main space see one more of the gorbatdog creatures come into view. Next to the gorbatdog is a horrid mass of flesh that looks to be melted and rotting at the same time. Viscous yellow bile-slime drips from its slack-jawed mouth and wicked black claws tip each finger. It wears no clothing. Two small-ish creatures flank the pair of disgusting creatures, with greenish skin, long antennae, and a mouth filled with dagger sharp teeth. With a squeal, these two creatures disappear from view! The creatures are about 50 feet from where most of the group is standing in the middle of the crossed hallways.

Marie-Louise, as you inspect the half-orcs, you see much the same as Stitch saw earlier. They are mumbling incoherently and they do indeed have some injuries. Stitch, as you take another look, they don't seem to have any additional wounds. You figure it's not likely that the wounds they suffered were related to the gorbatdogs' deaths. It seems like they have injured themselves in their madness.

Tolwir, you don't seem to hear anything or see anything that would reveal the little weird creatures.
Apr 26, 2018 10:19 pm
Tolwir takes position next to the door, but relaxes his stance, letting the sword drop to his side. He calls back into the room, So, big slobbery demon things. To kill, or not to kill? And furthermore, what is the plan going forward? I feel that escaping this place is becoming a more pressing issue by the minute.
Apr 26, 2018 10:28 pm
Marie-Louise sighs, turning towards the others, speaking into their minds, but not the professor's.
Well those two are completely useless. Can I give them to Gwar'hull'ij as a gift? I want him to be my friend, that could be very helpful. I want to go after Gwar'hull'ij and it would make me happy if we take them with us. Her eyes rest on Revelry, since he's been the most supportive so far, eyes pleading.

Take... oh, that thing? Well, I can't argue that... Gwarhully would be of more use to us, but these two are innocents! We can't just use them as meat! They're living people too.
Apr 27, 2018 12:58 am
Revelry crouches in front of an orc and grabs it's chin, blood drips down his hand from two perforations between his forefinger and thumb "Under different circumstances, maybe...but in our current situation, they only put us at risk. They have not functioned at all, have not moved from this location. We are lost, in a world unknown—a world Gwar'hull'ij is familiar with—with no clue how we got here. Are they still living if they cannot function for themselves? I do not want to risk myself for someone who has been stagnant and statuesque our entire time here. I'm in agreeance with Marie-Louise, if sacrificing them puts us in favor with a local here then it is a sacrifice not done in vain. Leaving them here results in a similar outcome; they cannot eat for themselves, they are on the road to death—if anything we are being courteous and not letting them pain through the death of hunger or dehydration." He looks to Tolwir "Observe, if you need further persuasion." With his other hand, he draws a dagger and places it on the throat of the orc.

Marie-Louise tilts her head again, this time watching Revelry's hand. She thinks for a second then turns around to Vlur Perhaps you and the professor can stay here? He's no use and you seem uncomfortable out there. I trust you to not leave this place without us if you find a way, I will not leave you behind if we find one. I don't want to leave him alone. Please will you do this for me?
She then turns and speaks to Revelry, Stitch and Towlir. You knocked him out, you can drag him, perhaps Stitch can help? Revelry, perhaps you can make that one walk on its own? I don't know if I would be much help trying to drag and I asked Vlur to watch the professor here. Gwar'hull'ij warned for another dretch coming, we should move fast.

We... we truly mean to do this? Tolwir sighs then mumbles It does make the most sense... before he attempts hoists one of the orcs onto his back in a fireman's carry position. His armor and a lack of enthusiasm cause him to fall short, so he places his hands under the arms, then looks to Stitch for help, slightly embarrassed. So, any chance that... Gwar'hull'ij will come meet us, or must we go looking for him?

Stitch looks all awkward trying to help tolwir carry the half orc, I really don't know how to help in this situation but I'll try to help
Apr 29, 2018 8:02 pm
Marie-Louise taps Revelry's forehead and smiles at him. I'll remember. I will ask again. But for now, let's try a simple way of making him walk before you try difficult things She walks up to the standing half-orc and takes his hand, trying to pull him away from the wall. Looking at Towlir over her shoulder. We will walk to Gwar'hull'ij. I don't want to speak out loud and I don't think he trusts you. Oh and other things have ears to.
Apr 30, 2018 2:09 pm
Between Stitch and Tolwir, you manage to get the half-orc up in a sloppy carrying position. His limp weight makes the prospect difficult, but not unmanageable.

Vlur nods at Marie-Louise. Of course little miss. I'll make sure this vile bastard doesn't do anything to further hamper us. he says, pulling his mask in place before leaning down to the small man. Keep your mouth shut and you'll leave here with us. Open it without direction, and I'll see to it that all the creatures here have a taste of you to restore balance. he says in a cold whisper.

Marie-Louise, when you grab his hand, the half-orc doesn't really respond. However, when you tug on him, he does shuffle forward slowly. A moment later, however, he trips over a piece of rubble that Marie-Louise easily avoided. It's clear that while he may be mobile, he's not aware of anything around him.
May 1, 2018 5:24 am
Revelry nods his head "I look forward to conversing with you again, Marie-Louise." He remains seated for a bit staring at his hand before following after Marie-Louise. Watching the orc fall, he kneels down to observe the rubble and its triviality then looks up at Marie-Louise "Thoughts? Perhaps Antoinette has some insight?"
May 1, 2018 1:49 pm
Marie-Louise looks angry at the half-orc, you might even suspect her to to be cursing at him. He sighs, looking at Revelry. I still think making him walk by himself is a good idea, we just have to be extra careful guiding him. I can't make him float or not fall. With more hands free it would be safer. Perhaps they could try making him walk too, so we can both have our hands free? If it doesn't work we could always drag them by their feet, or try whatever it was you were wanting to do?
May 1, 2018 6:45 pm
Stitch looks uncomfortable, but he grimaces and pushes forward,
so ML which way are we going?
May 8, 2018 9:53 am
Giving a small nod, Marie-Louise turns to Stitch and Towlir. Follow me! If you think he can walk, you could try... She walks out of the room, through the hallway towards the door she saw fluffy go in. Every few steps she looks over her shoulder to see how the others are faring, sending bits and pieces of Edith Piaf into your heads with a huge grin on her face.
OOC:
I'm taking the artistic liberty to say that "communicate telepathically" includes sending music (so complete songs) into someone's head, since I also have the ability to hear that in my own head. Also I feel French is basically Common with a very heavy accent, but since the telepathy doesn't rely on both speaking in the same language feel free to hear it in any language you want;-p!

Also, I'm assuming Stitch said Marie-Louise's full name and not called her ML, if you did however mean to call her ML, please let me know and do it again next time and I'll make her respond to that;-p

Sorry for the delay folks. Travelling for work and doing a conference thingy has left me with precious little time at my computer.
You manage to make your way out of the room and down the hall. As you get near where you fought the original gorbatdogs, a quick glance around the corner reveals two of those little antennaed creatures and another pair of the melty body gross guys. They appear to be searching for something, and not paying much attention. You hear a strange squawking sound from them. Those that speak it, know it to be Abyssal.

Stitch looks to the group with an alarmed look, he whispers we need to go the other way
May 17, 2018 9:17 pm
Or... we could go through them. Don't these disappear? Maybe we should catch them by surprise... Tolwir whispers back.
May 18, 2018 4:56 pm
Marie-Louise turns and thinks to all of you They're debating who should tell Fah'blax we are here. They smelled us. She looks accusingly at Stitch.
If you want to attack I say we do it now, when they're distracted, or we could just assume that as soon as they see us they disappear again and we can pretend we never saw them in the first place! Then we can continue on our way to Gwar'hull'ij she smiles happily and waits for an answer
May 18, 2018 6:58 pm
Well I assume this Fablix is some sort of boss? I'd like if it not know we are here just yet. Worst case scenario, they run and tell it what they were going to anyway. Tolwir looks happy at his assessment.
May 19, 2018 1:02 am
"Would it be more beneficial to meet this Fah'Blax instead?" Revelry turns to Marie-Louise "What is your relationship with Gwar'hull'ij? Has it said anything about a way out of here?"
May 19, 2018 9:57 am
Marie-Louise's smile falls a bit before she answers. Well, first he wanted to eat me as a little snack and then eat all of you. But he didn't, he listened to me instead and now we are friends and he won't eat you unless I say it's ok. He warned me others will eat us. Then he had to run, we didn't have time to discuss a way out of here. So I think the best way to find out more about that is to get to the dretch that doesn't see us as food, give him food and then ask. Gifts always help when you want something. Her smile is back to full power, quite happy with her answer.

May 20, 2018 5:04 am
if something doesn't want to eat us and something else does, I'm all for not being eaten.
May 21, 2018 6:27 pm
The blubberman just said they need to capture us so Fah'blax can harvest our souls, or they get ripped in two. So all we have to do is not get captured. Can I shoot magic at them now? She looks on the verge of bouncing around, holding Antoinette close to her chest.
May 21, 2018 8:45 pm
I'm all for that! But I have a concern. I believe we should focus on the vanishers first. It wouldn't do to have them run away for reinforcements. Tolwir quietly puts his orc down, and takes a spot at the corner, back against the wall. He is painfully aware of every clink his armor makes. I was afraid the others were going to want me to sneak around in this. He thinks, glad for an approach that he can actually be useful in.

When you get close enough to inspect the bodies, you find not a ton of interest.

Looking at the antennaboys and the meltymen Marie-Louise's head turns slightly sideways, brows furrowed as she thinks about what all of this means. She slowly turns so that she can speak to everyone at once, but before she does she glances accusingly at Antoinette, putting the doll in the pocket of her dress. The bodies, they're still here. I didn't really notice it before, it didn't seem like a big deal and I was too busy having fun, but I just remembered something I read in a book about demons, when I was learning Abyssal, which is of course the language demons speak. The body of a demon disappears when it's killed on our world. The only place where their bodies remain after death is in the Abyss itself. I really hope Gwar'hull'ij knows where to find or how to make a portal back to our world, because I don't and we need to get back there fast. Because these things are the rats of our world, insignificant beings compared to the horrors that live here described in that book. So let's hurry! She actually seems a bit worried about their chances of survival for the first time, her delightful curiosity hidden behind a layer of fear. For the time being she keeps the information about some of the author's travel companions going insane and never returning with him back to their plane of existence to herself, not wanting to worry the others even more.
She turns around quickly and hurries down the hallway and to the spot where Gwar'hull'ij left her.
Jun 8, 2018 5:23 pm
Stitch swallows hard, and looks a little worried as well. He whispers to the group.
Perhaps I should take lead as I can pass by most undetected? I feel like being hidden is the best thing down here
Jun 8, 2018 6:17 pm
Yes, yes, by all means please. The abyss... Tolwir is worried, even shaking a bit. If only he had paid more attention or studied harder, he could have been able to lend a solution to this.
Jun 10, 2018 6:32 pm
Marie-Louise turns, raising an eyebrow at Stitch. Sure, you take the lead and get your head bitten of the second Gwar'hull'ij sees you, because YOU'RE not his friend and he only promised ME to not eat you unless I say so. Clearly we should trust a demon to stay true to his word when the one he has promised it to is not the first thing he sees. He trusts me, I never said he does the same with you. At least bring the food, so he might be distracted... She shakes his head and turns around again, letting Stitch go first if he wants to and then walking to the door she saw fluffy enter, knocking three times and waiting.
Jun 12, 2018 2:22 pm
Stitch bows slightly and exaggeratedly gestures for Marie-Louise to go first. Gwar'hull'ij has to see me first though for that to happen, but after you so that yo may calm him, as I do like to keep my head on my shoulders
Jun 12, 2018 3:12 pm
The party, following behind the diminutive form of Marie-Louise, makes their way across the main hall into the narrow space where she had "spoken" with Gwar'hull'ij. The sounds of crashing still echo from the room that was leaking green gas earlier. As you round the corner, putting the gas-leaking room behind you, you are presented with a hallway with five doors. Two on the left side, three on the right side. Marie-Louise, you saw Gwar'hull'ij slip into the last room on the right earlier. When you get there and knock, nothing happens for a moment. After a few tense moments, with nothing but the increasingly twisted sounds of crashing and snarling from rooms around you, the door opens and a gorbatdog looks down at Marie-Louise with his head cocked to one side. A snort and a vile drip of spit falls from his jowls, splashing onto the floor. He sees the others behind the little girl and his lip starts curling into a snarl, but he holds his otherwise expected attack.

Marie-Louise looks up at the gorbatdog, smiling, recognising the cocked head as that of Gwar'hull'ij.

The gorbatdog, who all of you safely assume to be Gwar'hull'ij, steps back and gestures with a snout towards the inside of the room. Inside, it is a small space, only about 10 feet in either direction. Gwar'hull'ij climbs up onto a battered bed, squatting in the corner as you all file into the small space as you will. You can all fit, but it is definitely a tight fit.

Even with the blood and sweat from hauling the "food" to Gwar'hull'ij, it's not hard to take in all the room has to offer. There is a single battered bed to the left that likely only would have slept a single person when it was in good shape. The rest of the room is empty, featuring no windows, no storage, no nothing. It's possible this was where a servant would have slept for a master that cared little for their well-being.
Jun 14, 2018 4:04 pm
Stitch moves quietly towards a corner of the room, so that he can see the door, and all the people/food/Gwar'hull'ij. As he passes by Gwar'hull'ij he nods in an appreciative manner.
Jun 18, 2018 7:56 pm
Marie-Louise walks up to the bed, sitting on the edge and looking at Gwar'hull'ij and speaking only to him. You are free to eat the buttfaces whenever you like, but I don't know how much vomit will be flowing if you do in front of them. Also i would like to ask you some questions about how we can leave this place. I have read a bit about the Abyss, but I don't know how to make a portal back to our world. Please tell me you can help me? She waves her hand towards the half-orcs when she speaks about them and gets a slightly evil grin when she mentions the vomit.

Jun 23, 2018 5:25 pm
No sooner do the bodies hit the ground than Gwar'hul'ij bounds towards the pale green skinned creature. With two bites, the poor sap's life is ended and face is removed.

No, no know how to make portals. There was a man here once, he could. Fah'blax ate him and took over. Maybe Fah'blax knows, but Fah'blax not tell anyone. Old man books near Fah'blax. he communicates into Marie-Lousie's head.
Jun 26, 2018 1:53 pm
Marie-Louise's head cocks to the side when see hears the name Fah'blax in her head. We encountered some other creatures working for Fah'blax. They made him sound not very friendly. Books I like, a lot. Is there a way we could get those books and not get our souls sucked out by Fah'blax?
Jun 27, 2018 8:37 pm
Fah'blax not friendly. Fah'blax very bad. Eat everyone. If you can move very quiet, the door to old man book room is next to the door to Fah'blax. You can get there quietly and he won't eat you. Back in the main hall, the big door that way is Fah'blax. Look at his door, turn right. Go there. Gwar'hull'ij thinks at Marie-Louise. He continues his slurping consumption of half-orc by ripping an arm of the other still living one, strangely causing no noise from the catatonic humanoid.

If we manage to get the books and create a passage home, (surprise thing). If we don't survive I'm happy I met you, you are very nice to me. Goodbye Gwar'hull'ij.
She smiles and then turns her attention to the others in the room, thinking to them in an excited tone. Alright everyone! There are books to be found, possibly giving us a way out of here. They are in a room next to Fah'blax, who we really don't want to meet, so we have to be super duper quiet. Let's go!

Marie-Louise leads the charge for new information, getting so focused on the books that she misjudges her own feet and nearly goes sprawling across the floor. However, a very quick-minded Stitch manages to reach out and stop her from falling just enough that the group makes their way across the hall without raising further suspicion. When they reach the small alcove with three doors, Marie-Louise tries the one Gwar'hull'ij suggested. It swings open easily, revealing a bedroom study. A large bed dominates one side of the room, directly across from the door. It is covered in fine silks and a thin layer of dust. A pair of golden wall sconces sit on either side of the bed with eldritch flames lighting the room with a purpley glow.

Immediately to the left of the door as you enter is a large desk scattered with papers and books.

The floor is covered in a heavy rug, which muffles your steps.

There are two doors on the left wall, both are closed.
Jul 4, 2018 9:14 am
When Marie-Louise almost falls and Stitch catches her she looks up at him, eyes big and cheeks turning red. He might expect to hear a thank you in his head but she frees herself, turning her head away and continuing on feeling embarrassed. When she reaches the door she turns towards Stitch, still slightly blushing Thank you for that...
She pushes open the door and steps into the room, heading towards the desk and looking over the books. Her eyes move towards the doors and she turns to face the other. I will look over these books to see if there's anything in here that could help, could you guys search the room, and whatever is behind those doors? She smiles, then turns back to the desk, quickly scanning the books and papers for titles or information what they're about to see if they would be helpful for creating a portal

Marie-Louise, as you inspect the books, you find nothing remotely helpful in portal creation. Some appear to be self-help books. "Overcoming male baldness", "Learn Abyssal Now!", as well as sheets that appear to be balance sheets, detailing numbers in and out, but without any other information.

Tolwir, when you open the door, it swings easily, revealing a dimly lit library with deep wooden shelves stuffed with all manner of books!
Jul 11, 2018 11:25 pm
Tolwir stands in the doorway a moment and lets out a small, defeated sigh at the number of books.
He moves back to ML, and waves slightly to her, motioning with the other hand towards the library.

Flipping through the books and sheets Marie-Louise lets out an exasperated sigh. She picks up the book about baldness and turns to hand it to Revelry when Towlir grabs her attention, motioning towards the library. She about drops the book, then shoves it at Towlir, not looking at him at all, but silently moving into the library, inhaling the scent of books and closing her eyes for a second to enjoy the "normalcy" for a bit. When she opens her eyes again she goes to work, starting on the left side of the bottom shelf, reading titles on spines and covers, perhaps peeking inside a few books, hoping to find the right books in here.

Tolwir will take the pillowcases from the bed, and take the pillows out. He'll follow ML into the library and begin putting books she passes over into the cases, provided that they look interesting, rare, or expensive. ornate or strange bindings are the biggest tell for him, after title, but he'll also take special not of anything ML pauses on, but passes up. He does his best to stack the books so that they won't open and damage the pages.
Jul 16, 2018 12:31 am
These books are much more interesting looking. There are several with titles that would suggest varying forms of blood magic, summoning rituals, magical extortion techniques, devil contract law, things of that nature.

One in particular looks very interesting, as it is stuffed with reams of additional paper, with hand scribbled notes, though not in a language any of you understands.

Suddenly, as Marie-Louise pulls out a thick black tome titled "Daemons of the Abyss and How to Identify Them", a soft grinding echoes through the small room and the bookshelves begin to sink into the floor. They very rapidly appear to be forming a set of stairs heading down from this level. A sickly green-purple light shimmers up from the newly exposed room.

Seeing the pillowcase in Towlir's hands Marie-Louise raises an eyebrow before handing him book after book. Definitely all about the magical extortion techniques, summoning rituals and devil contract law. She hufs at the notes that just don't make sense at all, tucking the book they're in under her arm while continuing her search. As the books disappear after picking up the copy of "Daemons of the Abyss and How to Identify Them" a small hint of panic creeps up her throat, making her whimper. She leans forward towards the light, leaning, with respect, on the first bookshelf step of the stairs, mind racing in search of an explanation for this colour.
She looks up at Stitch, reminding herself that losing the books might not be a horrible thing to him, explaining his short recovery time. She nods, gets up, and steps aside to let Stitch, and any others that want to go first, go first. She holds the most interesting book/"insert title here" close to her chest as she follows, only half wishing nobody gets eaten by whatever is waiting down there.

Stitch, you head down the staircase formed by the bookshelves, along with anyone else that follows along. As you descend, you find yourselves in a small room, only about fifteen feet in either dimension. A massive circle of runes decorates the floor and you can see the weird light is from a basin in the middle of the room full of a liquid. A polished obsidian ring with various arcane runes runs in a channel around the rim of the bowl.

The staircase descends down the western wall of the space. On the eastern wall is a series of gems with runes carved into them, set into sockets forming a horizontal row across the wall, about four feet off the ground. Marie-Louise, you recognize many of the runic indicators as being names of locations within Feyshear; including Nightspire Keep, Wavebreak Market, and the Dark Market.

Marie Louise, I don't know exactly what these runes mean, but are they our way out of here?

Tolwir takes a defensive stance at the top of the stairs. Such runes and magic is sadly too advanced for him.
OOC:
how much has Tolwir heard about the other's sanctioned investigation?
Jul 28, 2018 12:27 pm
Marie-Louise walks a few steps behind Stitch going down the stairs, but once they enter the room she pushes past him, immediately focused on the runes on the floor, edge of the basin and on the wall. She holds up her finger as Stitch speaks, reading the runes a second time before turning to him and Revelry. These runes on the wall are places in Feyshear, but I don't know what these are for exactly... I think we might need the professor for that, he might know if it is some sort of spell, or just a weird combination of words. But looking at it I'd say we are exactly where we want to be! So, who wants to pick that daft man up? while speaking of the professor being needed Marie-Louise's ace goes a little dark, but in the end she looks hopeful and happy at the others.

What did we do with the professor again, I don't remember?

OOC:
We'll say that Revelry ran back sneakily and recovered the diminutive professor.
The squat little halfling wanders in at the end of Revelry's blade, muttering, Aye, aye. I'll be moving along now, no need to get so prickly!

When he walks down the stairs, his eyes stretch as wide as dinner plates, amazed at the scene before him.

What in the Deeps is this!?

and Revelry took Vlur with him too? Are we going to leave him to be eaten by fluffy too:-(?
[ +- ] in the profs head
Marie-Louise's face turns very sour while she thinkspeaks to the professor, obviously still not happy she can't figure it out on her own, but knowing it would be too dangerous to just randomly try something, especially considering where they are now. No, she needed to convince the professor to help them now and then think of a way to leave him behind for Gwar'hull'ij. She takes a deep breath, forcing herself to first focus on the professor and what he does and says, not wanting to miss anything important she might need later
Aug 4, 2018 8:13 pm
OOC:
Yes, Vlur came back with Revelry as well. :)
Hmm, yes. Well. These runes on the bowl, and over on the wall, they are definitely used for some kind of teleportation. They read very similar to normal teleportation circles in Feyshear. It is, well, it is something else. There are extra runes here, that I wouldn't expect. I'm not fully sure why though. But this, the bowl, it's less teleportation oriented. It looks - YES - it allows for remote viewing of someone on the other side of the spell. But, I don't know of a spell that would do anything like that.

While the little man wanders around the basin, face scrunched in thought, Vlur leans back against the wall, seemingly distracted. While doing so, he bumps into one of the gems. A faint click echoes throughout the chamber and the runes on the basin flare up, an image of a marketplace shimmers into existence over the pool of liquid, showing you people wandering through stalls. The chamber is filled with the very loud sounds of a bustling marketplace. Half the runes on the floor start pulsing with a purpley light.

Stitch jumps back at this, a look of intrigue crosses his face. Well that was a neat trick Vlur! what happens if I push a different one
OOC:
Stitch will press a different Rune, lets say the 3rd from the left ;)
Aug 6, 2018 8:26 pm
The gem behind Vlur pops back out, causing him to leap forward off the wall a little bit.

As you push the other button, Stitch, the scene shifts above the bowl to what appears to be a small office with gilt decoration. The label, Marie Louise, indicates Nightspire Keep. The same runes on the floor pulse with a steady rhythm.

Tolwir will guard the door, weapon drawn, listening hard for anything that sounds like trouble. His face looks like worry and slight annoyance.

Marie-Louise smiles hugely at Vlur when he accidentally discovers the working of the runes on the wall. She stares into the bowl, wondering if this is enough to travel to the other side or if this is merely the "looking at it" the professor spoke of. As Stitch makes the small office at the Nightspire Keep appear she decides she will find out there. She takes a piece of ammunition for her sling out of her pocket, holds it above the bowl and drops it.

Marie-Louise drops the pebble above the bowl. Without disturbing the image, it falls and makes a soft sploosh sound in the liquid below.
Aug 22, 2018 3:20 pm
Marie-Louise frowns slightly at the lack of effect from the stone. She turns towards the professor, thinkspeaking to him while she fishes some parchment, a pen and ink from her bag.
Tell me more about the transportation circle and how to operate it. Please? I made a friend here and knowing how to travel back and forth means I didn't really have to say goodbye. Her face starts looking very serious, but as she says "please?" her face changes into a pleading little girls smile, eyes big and hopeful. If the professor answers her she listens, making notes if needed. She will also copy the runes on the floor and bowl, circling the pulsing runes.
Aug 27, 2018 3:03 pm
Oh, well, it doesn't look like a normal one, really. These buttons, the press seemed to have triggered the scrying portal. Perhaps another press will activate the rest? These runes don't follow a normal address, so it's unlikely you could come back normally by this particular means. It's strange, really. Unless - YES! I got it! The person using this knew how to teleport, right? One of the easiest ways is to have something you've just recently taken from the location. That's why the basin of water is there. They'd take some with them every trip and be able to always come back here easily. Perhaps you could take a book from here, or some water. he says, looking around. With a gesture, he points to Vlur. Push that one again. he says, pointing at the already depressed gem.

Vlur looks at him and pushes against the gem a little firmer, clicking it a second time. On the wall in the middle of the ring, gas starts to swirl around in a haze, becoming clearer as the same room viewed in the scrying portal earlier. Only now, you get more than just sight and sound, smells and breeze are coming through also.
Sep 7, 2018 8:35 pm
Marie-Louise's eyes start to twinkle as the smells from the small office drift into their room. After finishing copying the runes she turns away from the professor, speaking to Stitch, Revelry and Vlur. Can we give the professor to Gwar'hull'ij? He tried to kill me. He brought us here when he tried to summon a creature, so he's clearly useless. So send him to our friend, bring Towlir here and then decide where we want to go?
Sep 9, 2018 12:37 am
Revelry, reasonably who's been distracted for some time, steps forward; the soft smile Marie-Louise has come to known adorns his face as he looks upon her with his imposing voids. "I will stand by your decision always, Marie-Louise, if it is something you truly want; I hope you've come to know that." He kneels down to meet her closer to eye level and places his hand gently on her shoulder, briefly looking at the floor before returning his gaze back to hers. His voice, somewhat hushed now, speaks soothingly towards her "I do not share your extraordinary gifts so forgive me for any vagueness. As long as I draw a breath and I have strength in my body and mind, I will always seek your protection; this has proven true since we've first met, if you recall. What you speak of wouldn't of progressed any further than it did, by one out come or another. I simply want you to pause and think on your choice. Don't sink down, float above; clear your mind and think on it. We don't know what lies beyond these "doors", if we can even call them that; for all we know, they might not even be doorways. How do we measure uselessness against foreign knowledge?"

Revelry removes his hand for Marie-Louise's should and stands. He looks at the ring, briefly, before looking back at Marie- Louise "Regardless of your decision, I will back you up...as long as you take pause, think, and are one hundred percent sure that is the path you wish to take."

Marie-Louise pouts slightly, listening to Revelry's words. She looks over her shoulder at the professor, rolling her eyes and sighing heavily. She turns back to Revelry, taking his ringed hand in hers, somehow feeling a bit like she should comfort him, but not knowing how.

Oh yes! The books promise many new exciting things for me to learn! I should do that immediately! the professor says, his smile broadening at the thought of pilfering learning from this place. Without a further word, he dashes up the stairs.
Sep 24, 2018 11:47 pm
As his hand is grabbed, he looks down at the source and smiles; listening to the words in his mind, he nods along with them. "The latter; if that decision proves even a hint bit of danger to us, we can remedy it immediately. Whichever your choice, I will see to it you are protected."

With a final nod, he begins to turn away before holding up his finger in thought and turns back. Revelry kneels to her height again, using his other hand he removes his ring, turns her hand up and places it in her palm, using his hands to close hers around it. He gives a nod "Since we deal with the unknown, it is best to plan ahead. In the event we do not see each other, find the City of Kalef, that ring will finish our promised conversation or, in the event it goes as hoped, return the ring to me and we will finish it personally..." It seems a thought lingers, as his dark voids stare blankly at her, a somewhat pained expression masked by a gentle smile marks his face. He props himself up and gives a nod "I will retrieve him now." then turns to get Towlir.

Tolwir, who has been diligently guarding the doorway for some time, turns almost startled by the movement behind him. Are we ready then? I haven't heard or seen anything alarming yet...
Sep 25, 2018 11:29 am
"Yes...just about." Revelry holds up his hand, seeking ceased movement. His expression is stern, his black eyes stare eerily down at Towlir; yet there is a natural calm about him "If you can lend me your ear and spare me a bit of your time, there is something I wish to speak to you about."
Sep 25, 2018 2:26 pm
Marie-Louise frowns a little bit at the constant talk about protecting her. She is about to say something about it when suddenly Revelry turns back and places the ring in her hand. She first stares at her folded hand a completely confused look on her face. What is he up to? What could be dangerous about going up to get Towlir?! She looks up at his face, staring deep into the dark voids, feeling that strange desire to comfort him again. As she starts raising her free hand to touch his face he gets up and turns away and she just stands there, staring at the ring in her hand, a million questions swirling in her head.
Sep 25, 2018 9:52 pm
Tolwir's brow furrows with worry, and he grips the handle of his rapier hard. If the magical people are asking for his help in as place like this, it does not bode well. What's troubling you?
Sep 27, 2018 12:02 pm
Revelry shakes his hand, a gentle smile briefly crossing his mouth, and takes a prolonged blink. "Relax; at least for this conversation. I do not like making enemies, unless justified or with in good reason. When first we met, I was possibly too harsh for the actions you did. I have watched you since then...with intent, to see if this conversation was needed. Obviously," another brief smile crosses his face before fading again "here we are. You've been a helpful asset, dispite the minor hiccups in the beginning. I was rude and it was unjust, and for that, I ask your forgiveness."

Revelry extends his right hand, now barren of a ring "If you accept I will consider you an ally, a friend even..." his neutral expression changes to a furrowed glare "but know this, my only concern is the safety of Marie-Louise; I do not care for anything but that. If for whatever reason you, or anyone, put her in danger, whether directly or not...I will not be coming to you with an open hand. As long as her safety is one of your concerns, we shant have a problem; I just want to be crystal before you make your choice on accepting my handshake." As he finishes, a warm smile replaces his harsh glare.
Sep 30, 2018 10:52 pm
The safety of everyone is always my concern. Tolwir grasps Revelry's hand firmly. Marie-Louise included. Neither Heironeous nor the Legion would forgive me if I let something happen to a girl under my watch. I just hope that I am more useful in the future... magic was never my strong suit, though I try. That aside, I'm glad I can count you as a friend. Tolwir smiles warmly. We should not linger here long though, this whole place makes me uneasy. Tolwir makes as to head to the stairs, shouldering his pilfered books.
Oct 1, 2018 12:49 pm
As the pair of you are discussing the general safety of the evil little blaster girl, you see the professor run by you and out the main door of this room. From beyond, a howl of several creatures hunting whoops up and a bloodcurdling scream pierces through the air. It would seem your professor associate has found his final research topic: the inside of a demon's stomach.
Oct 5, 2018 12:05 am
Tolwir looks at the professor's wake quizically, and without turning back to Revelry says I er... should we have stopped that? Um... Well, probably not safe to stay much longer, who knows what he woke up? Tolwir will look around the room for anything sufficiently heavy to barricade the door, perhaps a bookcase.

After staring at the ring in her hand for about 30 seconds Marie-Louise raises her head towards Vlur and thinktalks to him to determine the best place to travel to.
OOC:
I can't see the map of Feyshear anymore and you didn't mention all locations on the runes, so I can't give the name of a location, but I think we would like to get as close to home or a railway station from where to travel home as possible. It makes sense to "regroup" at home, and perhaps save Lurchette from Uriel. But perhaps we should inform the policeman/green legion man about the changes in the group and the things we found out so far? I think it depends a bit on what time it seems to be on the other side? Of course ML will not suggest going back to mister "talking to a doll" Aedwin:-p, but if Vlur mentions it she might think about the letters from the captain they got after the violence in the marketplace and the mess the professor created today. She will definitely consider a visit to the station useful then....
I'm definitely ok with skipping over this whole conversation, but perhaps Stitch would like to react to things Vlur says?
Oct 14, 2018 7:37 pm
You don't see any places nearby to where you are familiar. However, you do know that all of the markets, like Wavebreak and the Grand Bazaar, have access to one of the railway stations no more than an hour's walk away. That would be able to get you anywhere you'd like to go in the city.

Vlur suggests that visiting the guard station would be very important, if for no other reason than to report on your findings. He also suggests that travelling to the Wavebreak Market portal would likely give you the best results as there are enough people there that your arrival will go unnoticed.
