Here we can ask rules questions, mention off-topic things, and give the DM any other input or feedback or harassment we want!

sorry, that last post seems more suited here...

Re: Character Creation
Naat, you should check what killed the people on the ground (why is there so much blood?). I would, however, Crolwell is much more interested in the result of the pin...

Yeah we should try and keep out of character chat and discussion here. In game or out of game. Good call.

I edited my post to include a couple of rolls and stuff

New plan. I'm going to hack into this web server and fix the die roller!!!
Aug 29, 2015 11:29 pm
I just have to say that I was thisclose to having everyone call me Professor X.
Aug 29, 2015 11:29 pm
The rolls... awful, all of them lol
Aug 30, 2015 12:04 am
Just when I thought my rolls couldn't get worse! Are we all drunk? We must be.

Blame it on the haze.

Heh heh, that is hilarious.
The low dice rolls are probably the dice's way of saying "we let you roll good characters... now pay!"
Aug 30, 2015 8:29 pm
Well... it appears as if we are going to do introductions all over again for poor Crolwell.
Aug 30, 2015 9:34 pm
I laughed when I saw that history roll. Poor Crolwell.
Aug 30, 2015 9:48 pm
Well this is going to get interesting...
Flubas are pretty big, however Crolwell has a "pocket Fluba". He claims that he got it from a fairy (if asked about 'her', Crolwell won't stop talking).

Oh goodness... this character is seriously cursed! Haha!
Aug 31, 2015 12:35 am
This may be my favorite character. Ever.
Aug 31, 2015 1:49 am
Ütés is going to knock him on his fool head if he keeps it up though!! :-)
Aug 31, 2015 1:54 am
Holy Bananas!
I've only seen rolls like this once in a game! (Except they were ALL 20s or high numbers, instead of single digits... The players tamed a Nothic that day).

I'm just glad we're not in combat, we'd be injuring each other with these rolls.
Aug 31, 2015 2:44 am
Crap. Sorry Aelar, I totally threw us into combat!
Every time I try to make a semi-serious moment for Crolwell, and show why he is doing what he is doing, he always throws me off!

Wow, I finally got a good roll! Maybe combat will be the turning point for our luck in rolls
Aug 31, 2015 3:27 am
Ha- well, at least some of us had the same game plan.
Aug 31, 2015 4:50 am
Oh man, that is probably the best start to the combat I could have hoped for. I figured Ütés was going to be the first to dive on in, I was mostly just trying to make sure you wouldn't actually drop your weapons and leave. I knew Crolwell would never give up the fluba.

Once we have all the initiatives in I'll post the order and set the scene for how the battle starts. I will try and avoid needing to use a grid, we will try and theater of the mind this campaign. So distances will be generalized and unless the distances are quite vast, or if someone is trying to hoof it away from the fight, they shouldn't come into play too much. Just know if you have people within melee distance of you and you run, you trigger opportunity attacks against you.
Aug 31, 2015 11:26 am
Initiative rolled. That'll be it for me until this evening.
Aug 31, 2015 11:55 am
No problem. Really the game is only set to require 1 post a day. :)
Aug 31, 2015 4:19 pm
Ahh yes, a promising start to combat :)
Aug 31, 2015 7:26 pm
Question- is there ever a time that I won't roll +INT modifier to cast a spell?
Aug 31, 2015 7:35 pm
The only time you roll for a spell is when it has an attack roll involved, such as fire bolt. In that case you roll d20+proficiency+Int Mod. Other than that they are auto-success or require an opponent to make a saving throw.

You also won't add your int mod to damage from a spell unless the spell or a class feature says so.
Aug 31, 2015 7:37 pm
Yes, just make sure to carefully read the spell details. You only roll if it says to make an attack roll, or if something says that "on a successful hit". Or similar.
Aug 31, 2015 9:23 pm
Ahhh, should have used the bardic inspiration straight out!!
Aug 31, 2015 9:24 pm
You can still use it after you make the roll ;)

Ha. That, and a captive audience?
Sep 1, 2015 12:20 am
Unconcious creatures fail all strength and dexterity saves, all attacks have advantage against them, and melee attacks made within 5 ft are automatically criticals. Pretty sweet rolls, gonna make this a lot easier
Sep 1, 2015 12:57 am
Also, Crolwell is technically next to act initiative wise so if he chooses to attack neither of you were quick enough to grab him. If he doesn't want to keep fighting though, all bets are off.
Sep 1, 2015 1:01 am
Yeah that's what I figured. We can at least say that we tried!
Sep 1, 2015 2:02 am
Ütés just belly flopped into the lake (that's going to leave a mark).
Sep 1, 2015 2:36 am
Lol. It was a less than graceful entry for sure, but at least you didn't critical miss and miss the water entirely.
Sep 1, 2015 6:17 pm
I was going to say how bad we are at remembering... But Crolwell knows everything, now! He has become omniscient! Hah hah...

I love that it happened just after Taft gave you the blessing to give you clarity.
Sep 1, 2015 6:33 pm
That's hilarious, the simple barbarian who can't think straight usually is the only one who remembers anything about the Daggers. This is why I love random rolls :)
Sep 1, 2015 6:42 pm
Question: what are some of the obscenities?
Sep 1, 2015 6:48 pm
Question, do you speak goblin? Some are common some are goblin.
Sep 1, 2015 6:48 pm
Nope, but I don't need to understand them.
Sep 1, 2015 6:51 pm
The ones you can understand are something about your mother laying with many different beasts willingly, that he will claim your skull and fill it with his own excrement. Stuff along that lines. Most of the rest is unintelligible gibberish in goblin.
Sep 1, 2015 7:50 pm
Is this campaign going to go by experience or are we leveling by Milestones?
Sep 1, 2015 7:52 pm
I was planning milestone, unless people have preferences?
Sep 1, 2015 7:55 pm
Milestones are fine with me!
Sep 1, 2015 7:56 pm
Either way is fine with me, honestly. Milestones are way better for pacing.
Sep 1, 2015 9:29 pm
Milestones work for me as well.

Sep 1, 2015 11:18 pm

Shhh!!! :-)

Work used to be fairly decent about allowing us a little personal browsing during lunch, but have since blocked any site that has the word "game" in it (unless it has to do with fantasy football, football, or march madness - you can tell what upper management's hobbies are based on which sites are not blocked).
Sep 2, 2015 3:12 pm
Aelar can only play a Free Bird adjacent song called Uncaged Sparrow.
Sep 2, 2015 3:26 pm
The muzak version, eh?
Sep 2, 2015 3:29 pm
Yeah, our campaign couldn't secure rights to the actual song. :)

Well... his performance was better then free bird's...
Sep 2, 2015 5:46 pm
Crolwell is now on watch. I can't be the only one excited by this!?!?
Sep 2, 2015 5:56 pm
Oh I'm dying to see how this ends. Hopefully the rest of the party will not be. :)
Sep 2, 2015 6:00 pm
Also, after Ütés' watch I will consider you all have completing a short rest. Any expended abilities that only come back then can be regained. You may also spend your hit dice to try and heal wounds. Let me know if you are unsure what that means or how to do it.
Sep 2, 2015 6:25 pm
That means that in the morning we will recover the hit die that we use tonight?

Yes. Indeed.

Well, finally, an interesting turn of events in this evening. Thought you guys were just going to have a super peaceful night in the scary woods. Of course the goblin only rolls well once, then is still super slow. Probably a dead leg from sitting so uncomfortably in that bag for so long.

I will say, of the campains I've GMed, Crolwell is now my favorite wildcard. It seems like every group has a wildcard, and he is doing it splendidly. Love it.
Sep 3, 2015 4:27 am
That's pretty much how Xadira sees him- as a small child or puppy who needs to be taught things like how to walk and talk properly and not pee on the shoes of strangers.

Sep 4, 2015 1:39 pm
Yep he never worked and Crolwell turned out just fine ;)
Sep 4, 2015 1:49 pm
just waiting for szemely to get initiative in before I decide if Xadira actually hits first.
Sep 4, 2015 1:50 pm
Well, Utes literally can't get higher than Xadira has right now. Xadira is guaranteed to go first at this point
Sep 4, 2015 1:52 pm
True, I guess it's so I know if Taft goes next, but I can at least post for Xadira's results.
Sep 4, 2015 2:10 pm
Initiative rolled.
Sep 4, 2015 2:17 pm
Alright, I had to do a tie breaker coin flip for Utes and Taft, as well as Crolwell and the Bullywogs. Normally if there is a tie I would go by the higher Dexterity score. In both cases even those were tied so I just coin flipped to break the tie.
Sep 4, 2015 2:27 pm
Nice shocking grasp, Taft!
Sep 4, 2015 2:29 pm
Also this is initiative order currently, just to put it out there. No need to put it in the combat we are already in now.

INITIATIVE:
1. Xadira
2. Taft
3. Ütés
4. Crolwell
5. Bullywogs (now 3)
6. Aelar
Sep 4, 2015 2:52 pm
Damn- wasted my natural 20 on initiative. At least I hit!
Sep 4, 2015 2:57 pm
At his point, the bullywogs still can't see us that are still inside the circle, correct?
Sep 4, 2015 2:58 pm
Yes. Anyone outside the bubble can't see those inside. Buuuut. Attacks from inside will have advantage against those outside. Unless you leave the bubble and become seen. Sorry should have mentioned it but we haven't had any misses yet. So no harm no foul.
Sep 4, 2015 2:58 pm
Also attacks from outside to the inside are at disadvantage.
Sep 4, 2015 3:05 pm
Are you granting advantage based on flanking, as in the DMG? Or any other optional/variant rules?
Sep 4, 2015 3:12 pm
Just curious, where does Crolwell get a +8 to attack rolls from?

I believe (and if I'm wrong, then sorry). That I have +6 on my strength (I know insane). And then a +2 proficiency bonus because of my Greataxe... Is that right?
Sep 4, 2015 3:21 pm
You have a strength of 22?
Sep 4, 2015 3:26 pm
Naatkinson says:
You have a strength of 22?
Holy! Your right! So much for my math... -2 to both the attack and damage!... Real sorry about that.
To explain: I didn't relize Gamers Plane automatically adds your proficiency bonus. In short, I saw the +6 and thought that was my value. Nope.
Sep 4, 2015 3:34 pm
Ahhh! That makes sense then. Would be pretty awesome if you had a 22 strength though lol
Sep 4, 2015 3:47 pm
Advantage is granted because they can't see you so you always have surprise against them. It's more roleplay than strict rule. They have disadvantage against you because they are not in the bubble, but they know the general area it exists in, they could throw something in and just hope it hits.

Even with reduced numbers Crolwell straight murdered the frogman and destroyed the dagger. He specifically mentioned coming down on where the dagger was stuck into the creature. Make sure you take a dagger from your inventory Ütés. :P

Advantage and Disadvantage can be given situationally if it makes sense. So I sort of house ruled it, just forgot to mention it right at the start of the battle. This works for them and you, so if you leave, and they get into the bubble you would be at disadvantage against them until you were either in there with them, or they came out at you.

Once you leave though you no longer surprise them, so running out to do melee attacks against them gets you seen again. If you are an archer or ranged attacker, this is your dream haven. :)
Sep 4, 2015 4:04 pm
Am I supposed to add something to my spell damage, or just to weapon damage?
Sep 4, 2015 4:06 pm
Moofsalot says:
Am I supposed to add something to my spell damage, or just to weapon damage?
As a general rule you only add ability modifier to your damage on weapon attacks, not spells. Some spells or class abilities will specifically state that you are able to add that modifier. Those are the only cases where you will add that modifier to spells, unless a DM houserules otherwise.
Sep 4, 2015 4:08 pm
Booo, dice. Boo!
Sep 4, 2015 4:10 pm
Oh man, I'm so sorry Moofsalot. I just laughed inappropriately loud.
Sep 4, 2015 4:12 pm
Can I throw up a shield or does the natural 20(s) negate that?
Sep 4, 2015 4:14 pm
Is it a reaction?
Sep 4, 2015 4:15 pm
It is, but even so it wouldn't save me since it only adds 5 to my AC.
Sep 4, 2015 4:15 pm
Ah, also a crit is an auto hit no matter what, but sometimes wording may help you out.
Sep 4, 2015 4:34 pm
It says the shield spell lasts until my next turn. Since I'm at the top of the round, does that mean the following round?
Sep 4, 2015 4:35 pm
Are you unconscious Xadira?
Sep 4, 2015 4:36 pm
Not yet. Very close tho.
Sep 4, 2015 4:36 pm
Moofsalot:
Unfortunately not. Just until your next turn you have bonus AC.
Sep 4, 2015 4:59 pm
Xadira, I think you have advantage on that attack since he can't see you inside the bubble. Turn that miss into a crit!
Sep 4, 2015 5:02 pm
Yes, add another roll for attack and take the higher value.

Yes. Although I may need to do some digging since I'm not sure what that entails quite yet.
Sep 5, 2015 2:54 am
Yes, everyone is level 2, also I was like, "I can see all of the notes...these aren't private." Then I realized I'm the GM, of course I can see all the notes.
Sep 5, 2015 3:08 am
I think Ütés is good to go (easy enough for a fighter it appears, add some HP, and the Action Surge feat).
Sep 5, 2015 3:10 am
How are we doing hit points at level up? Roll it? Take the average (as listed in PHB)? Or roll, and have that average be the minimum?
Sep 5, 2015 3:13 am
I just added the average plus CON, but can change if we decide to do it some other way.
Sep 5, 2015 3:18 am
I say either you can roll for it, or take the average. Not a mix of he two. All depends on how much you like to gamble, or play it safe.
Sep 5, 2015 3:21 am
I'm gonna play it safe, but I will make a roll, just to see what I would have gotten :)

Edit: looks like I would have gotten average either way

Probably just a simple error. In the game I'm running, I accidently called one NPC "Stuart" and then flipped it mid game (Stuart was a complete different NPC).

I'm thinking he probably meant Taft

Depends on the Darkvision... Apparently an Elf can see 60 feet in darkness as if it were dim light.
Sep 5, 2015 8:39 pm
Yes, you can also see in pitch black as though it were dim light. You simply can't discern colors, just shades of grey.

Shit my bad, Victor is a gnome character in another game I'm a player in. Lol. MY WORLDS ARE BLEEDING TOGETHER!

I've written entire posts in some of these games using characters from other games. :-)

Best part is the gnome that was here I was about to call Victor just to keep myself from screwing up gnome names. Lol.
Sep 6, 2015 7:53 am
The tooting was Crolwell using his instrument to convince the Half-Orc that Crolwell is completely sane. However, it probably just made him look crazier.

Sorry I haven't updated much today. Family stuff most of labor day weekend. Limited posting time. I'll have a big post up later tonight.

Yeah, I'm glad that posting wasn't more frequent. I was quite busy as well and would have missed out on a lot of posting opportunities.

Besides using a feat or something, would you allow me to work towards proficiency in thieve's tools? I just realized that we have no rogue, and I'm probably the best fit for that role.

Edit: Also, what happens if one of our characters dies? Do we just get to roll up a new one? If so, I may go over to the character creation and make me a 2nd character, mostly for fun (and to be prepared)

The PHB has this to say on learning a new language or set of tools.

---------
Training
You can spend time between adventures learning a new language or training with a set of tools. Your DM might allow additional training options.

First, you must find an instructor willing to teach you. The DM determines how long it takes, and whether one or more ability checks are required.

The training lasts for 250 days and costs 1 gp per day. After you spend the requisite amount of time and money, you learn the new language or gain proficiency with the new tool.
---------

So you can start learning to use thieves tools. Since I'm unsure how long this campaign will go for I'll cut the time down a bit. After 30 days, one month, you will be proficient in their use.

I have been trying to find the specific use of thieves tools, as well as proficiency in them. It looks like much of the agreement is that Thieves Tools are required to pick a lock. You can't really attempt without them. Being proficient in them allows you to add your proficiency bonus to dexterity checks when picking a lock. There aren't really greatly supported rules so far for trying to pick locks without them. If you follow the 3.5 rules if you don't have thieves tools you are at a -2 penalty for trying to improvise tools to pick locks. These same checks work for disabling traps too.

So to sum up:
Tools but no proficiency: d20+DEX
Tools with proficiency: d20+DEX+2
No tools (even if proficient with thieves tools): d20-2
Sep 9, 2015 2:09 pm
Awesome! Yeah, I have seen what the PHB says, but training is one thing that's usually highly dependent on the DM, so I wanted to make sure. Thank you!

We're not going to die! We already got our 1 rolls out of the way, right? Everything will be fine!
Sep 9, 2015 2:14 pm
Yes if you die, you need a new character. But you have to fail three saving throws or take massive damage to be dead dead.

Ok, sounds good. For the heck of it I am going to make another character, just to be prepared.

No problem. If you ever find a valid reason to retire a character and bring the new one in we can swap out heroes.

Sep 13, 2015 4:09 pm
Just to be clear, the prince that Ütés has been tasked to find is merely a boy of 15 years of age (although he looks quite a bit older). He is a bit of a buffoon and an embarrassment to the King.
Sep 16, 2015 5:03 am

Are the guards wearing any type of rank insignia? May be time for Ütés to play captain.
Sep 19, 2015 5:36 am
These are fairly low ranking guards. This may make them fool-able, but they are also probably looking to prove themselves. So tread careful. :P

Sep 30, 2015 6:48 pm
Yes. Always before the roll for that one.
Sep 30, 2015 7:31 pm
Also, for the wisdom saving throw with this creature. You only have to make it once to become immune to the effect for 24 hours. So those that save this first time don't have to try again, or be frightened.
Oct 2, 2015 2:26 am
Just waiting on initiative for Crolwell.
Oct 2, 2015 2:31 am
Hey, everyone, I've been toying with the idea of changing Initiative to be more like End of the World. I'm running a campaign of that and I like how the initiative system works a little better for play by post. Essentially at the start of an encounter between two or more factions I determine which side goes first, pretty much just a judgement call based on who should go first. Obviously in this situation your team would go first against this sea hag, since you initiated the combat.

In end of the world each of you just takes a turn. Whoever goes first goes first. You each get one turn, then the initiative changes to the other side and any monsters I had would then take their turn. It just kind of jumps back and forth from side to side like that, without such set numbers.

It seems to work more in a play by post setting because not everyone has a chance to get initiative in or take their turn right away when their initiative number comes up.

If we were to use this we would just drop initiative rolls for you and opponents, and determine which side of a conflict acted first. You guys, or your enemies.

What does everyone think about that idea?
Oct 2, 2015 2:33 am
Works for me.
Oct 2, 2015 2:46 am
Alright, I may drop that in for this combat too, so we can go ahead and start the hacking and the slashing.
Oct 2, 2015 2:50 am
That works for me
Oct 2, 2015 3:52 am
Sounds good!
Oct 3, 2015 5:03 pm
Anyone have thoughts on what path they're going to take they're character? I'm thinking I'm gonna be a valor bard when I grow up
Oct 3, 2015 5:42 pm
Initially I was thinking of keeping Ütés as a pure fighter following the Champion archetype, but I may let Xadira's display of magic influence that a bit if I can get over having a fighter with the ability to cast spells.
Oct 3, 2015 5:45 pm
We'd have three magic users then, which would be pretty awesome, although using a sword and shield eliminates the possibility of using material components. And Eldritch knights can't use a spell focus either
Oct 4, 2015 1:46 am
It depends on where I see Crolwell heading in this journey. I've been trying to play up both sides of his personality as it is. If I feel he is going to become more calm and collected, then I will go with the Totem Warrior. However, if his future is to become more and more brash and "barabaric" (as he shown he is capable of with the goblin and the lady) he will become a berserker.
Oct 4, 2015 2:38 am
I'm leaning towards a transmutation focus.
Oct 4, 2015 7:41 pm
I'm still waiting for Xadira and Crolwell to take their combat turns.
Oct 4, 2015 8:44 pm
Should I go or am I waiting for Xadira? Or does it matter?
Oct 5, 2015 12:11 am
With the new combat turn system you guys just go on your turn. Order doesn't matter much unless you are waiting for someone else to do something.
Oct 5, 2015 12:46 am
All right! Awesome! (Nice and stream-lined)
Oct 5, 2015 2:30 am
Yeah it's the system from End of the World and it's worked pretty well in a Play by Post environment. Hoping it does the same here.
Oct 5, 2015 2:39 am
Crolwell forgot to use his Bardic Inspiration die!
Oct 5, 2015 2:39 am
(Technically with his eyes closed he also should have rolled disadvantage against the Hag.)

Also the sea hag isn't dead. I accidentally miscalculated health the first time. She gets a turn.
Oct 5, 2015 2:41 am
True that.
Also, shouldn't it be at 61 damage now, not 51?
Oct 5, 2015 2:42 am
Uhh....let me add again. Lol.
Oct 5, 2015 2:43 am
Disregard the disregarding of the dead sea hag. She really is toast. Totally dead.
Oct 8, 2015 3:06 am
Not again! Crolwell couldn't act if his life depended on it...

Yes, we all should be level 2. Just trying to make sure we are all in the same page.
Oct 15, 2015 6:07 am
Sorry for delay in post. New job stuff had me busy. I'll try and get something more substantial up tomorrow.
Oct 23, 2015 1:53 am
Note: I'm not turning this in looking at love story with the shy shoulder grab. Aelar comes from a tight knit little 'family' where frequent contact is expected. This is more a sign of feeling close to his new friends, though I can see how Utes might take it another way
Oct 23, 2015 1:55 am
I feel like Ütés is an opposite enough personality it may happen that way, but we'll see. :)
Oct 23, 2015 2:02 am
Aelar does have a weakness for the pretty ladies though lol
Oct 23, 2015 2:21 am

Lol. +1 point for szemely for Arrested Development reference.
Oct 28, 2015 3:00 am
Have any of us gotten Inspiration yet?
Oct 28, 2015 3:09 am
At this point I thought you all had. If you don't have it marked you all do. Man, I really thought I had handed that out. Guess I should check character sheets more often. INSPIRATION FOR ALL!
Oct 28, 2015 3:10 am
You may have, it's totally possible I didn't write it down too.
Nov 3, 2015 6:01 am
I really think that, by base rules, you should be able to wield a rapier and a dagger without a feat. That was the most common type of dual wielding back in the day. (And would totally be what this character would do)
Last edited November 3, 2015 6:08 am
Nov 3, 2015 12:16 pm
If the two weapons have the light property you can. The dual wielding feat, or fighting style, only allows you to add your appropriate stat modifier to the damage for the attack. If you don't have that then you can still make the attacks, but your second attack doesn't gain any bonus to the damage roll. (Attack seems unaffected either way).
Nov 3, 2015 12:17 pm
Then on your turn if you use your action to attack with one, you get to use a bonus action to attack with the other right away. Keeping in mind you can only have one bonus action per round.

Here is The two PHB sections about two hand fighting, and the two hand fighting style for reference.
Nov 3, 2015 12:20 pm
But rapiers don't have the light property, so you need a feat to utilize the most common sort of dual wielding in history. Just seems odd.

Fighting style allows you to add ability mod, feat allows you to use weapons that aren't labeled as light.
Nov 3, 2015 12:21 pm
Then that is indeed true. Rapiers are not dual wieldable without the feat. As stated both weapons need to be 'light'.
Nov 3, 2015 12:23 pm
If you would like we could make a global house rule. As long as the first weapon is a one handed weapon, you can use a light weapon for the bonus attack? All other rules still apply. Let me know your thoughts.
Nov 3, 2015 12:29 pm
PhantomNimbus says:

I'll leave that choice to you, as the dm. That's one of the house rules at my table, actually, simply because it seems odd not to be able to use that style, since it was so common.
Nov 3, 2015 12:51 pm
Let's go with it. I'll spin up a house rule thread later to add the rule to.
Nov 4, 2015 12:16 pm
Poor Klarg is having a bad day.
Nov 12, 2015 4:09 pm
Is Aelar among the bodies or off to the side?
Nov 12, 2015 4:10 pm
However you want to have setup. I'll say you had enough time to prepare for some form of grand entrance. Either emerging from the bodies or the fight scene or something.
Nov 12, 2015 4:11 pm
It's up to you, this is your performance. Ham it up! :)
Nov 12, 2015 8:28 pm
I take it the others are aware the Aelar is being chased all over the place?
Nov 12, 2015 8:29 pm
Oh yeah, you can certainly hear and have seen Aelar darting around.
Nov 12, 2015 9:22 pm
Aelar has gotten himself into quite the pickle!
Nov 12, 2015 9:23 pm
Yeah. 5 guys on horseback seem to be a little quicker than one person on foot. :)
Nov 12, 2015 9:24 pm
How ridiculous! Bad DM call ;)
Nov 12, 2015 9:25 pm
What's the area around here like? Any notable features? How far is the forest?
Nov 12, 2015 9:27 pm
The forest edge closest to you is about 30 feet away, but a warning that it seems at least two of the people have bows that are loaded and drawn on you. Enemies can prepare actions as well. It's up to you what you want to do now.
Nov 12, 2015 9:57 pm
Pretty sure I'm gonna die here lol :)
Nov 12, 2015 9:59 pm
Aelar, you wily bastard! Let the games begin! :)
Nov 12, 2015 10:00 pm
Hey, he's young and cocky, what you gonna do?
Nov 12, 2015 10:51 pm
Ütés will give a very moving eulogy! :-)
Nov 13, 2015 8:19 pm
Just want to add this:
My Bardic Inspiration Dice, by default, allow you to add the die (1d6) to any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check.
They now, since becoming a valor bard, allow you to add that to a weapon damage die, or use a reaction to add it to your AC against a single attack.
Nov 13, 2015 8:23 pm
Ahhh! The min/max part of me is fighting with the roleplaying part of me. I think I'm gonna put one of my expertise slots into performance. Seems to fit the character? Right?
Nov 13, 2015 8:24 pm
You build how the character makes you happy. :)
Nov 13, 2015 9:42 pm
Decisions, decisions....
Nov 13, 2015 9:46 pm
szemely says:
Decisions, decisions....
This is the hardest part of the game!
Nov 14, 2015 2:18 am
No kidding! :-)

Toyed with the Eldritch Knight idea but just don't see Ütés as a spell caster. Battle Master is more her speed, and picked up the parry, riposte, and commander's strike maneuvers.
Nov 14, 2015 2:23 am
To me this choice is especially big, since it will change how I play Crolwell.
Nov 14, 2015 4:38 am
Sounds like good choices all around.
Nov 14, 2015 5:25 am
I'll have to finish leveling this weekend...

P.S. I'm pretty sure I said in a previous thread that I was going with the School of Transmutation, but I think I got that mixed up with Evocation...

Nov 16, 2015 4:16 am
Okay, so two of the threads have been moved to a sub-forum. If you want to receive notification emails for those you have to go into the sub-forum and subscribe to it, just like you do normal forums.

I'm going to be posting up the start of the second arc/chapter/section tonight. If you aren't completely done with your character yet that's cool, I may lock and pin the first thread soon here so we can all shift to using the next thread.
Nov 22, 2015 12:50 am
Is Crolwell wearing armor?
Nov 22, 2015 1:53 am
Not entirely sure, but I thought most invisibility effects in this game make the things you are carrying invisible to.
Nov 22, 2015 2:00 am
I think Crolwell is only wearing his robe. And yes, invisibility affects your equipment too.
Nov 22, 2015 2:03 am
Yeah I was considering also casting a mage armor on him.
Nov 22, 2015 2:20 am
Wouldn't be a bad idea. I feel like Naatkinson is right. Just the robes.
Nov 22, 2015 2:34 am
He has unarmored defense as a barbarian, which doesn't stack with Mage Armor.

Crolwell's AC is 17, which is not bad at all. And that is just with the robes.

I think we lost PhantomNimbus maybe?
Dec 9, 2015 12:22 am
In another game that he's running he mentioned that he might be close to nonexistent until after Christmas. Just that time of the year...
Dec 9, 2015 12:23 am
Ahh, no reason to be worried then? That's good, because I particularly enjoy this party
Dec 9, 2015 12:24 am
Same here - this one has been a lot of fun.
Dec 11, 2015 6:02 am
Gah, sorry everyone. I thought I updated all my games. Yeah this month has been insane. I ended up going DM controlled NPC temporarily in another game I'm playing in. Let's just put a pin in the game until After the 25th if we can. I fully intend on continuing, just every evening and weekend is filled with just stuff. Lol.
Dec 11, 2015 12:14 pm
I know the feeling! Enjoy your holiday! See you on the other side!
Dec 12, 2015 1:34 am
Haha! It's alright enjoy Christmas it is that crazy time of year. Though, Crolwell isn't going to be happy when he learns Aelar outpreformed him (though pretty much anybody outpreforms him!) :)

Haha well, I always like an excuse to chat in character. I figure we can always try to do something like that whenever we have downtime.

Hah, I like how this is panning out. I'm back everyone. Hope everyone had a good break and December. The craziness is finally over here. Excited to get it going again.

As a mom of one I have to say the first 3 months sucked but every month since (it's only been 6 and yet also a lifetime) has been awesome! Hooray for babies! :)

Luckily it feels like the second is going a little smoother than the first. Still a lot of time and weekends are now extra crazy, but we are getting into our rhythm a little easier than the first time. I'll have an update up this afternoon.

Nope, the DC to hit was just a tad higher than you rolled. They were very evasive barrels.
Feb 10, 2016 11:20 pm
Doesn't the scorching ray that Utes' headband casts make three rays? If so she should have three chances to hit
Feb 10, 2016 11:50 pm
That they do, don't they? I'll add the rolls here in case we want to use them. If it makes sense to keep it as a miss story-wise (kind of how I'm leaning now), just ignore them.

Rolls

Rays of Fire!!! - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (13) + 5 = 18

1d20+5 : (11) + 5 = 16

Feb 10, 2016 11:52 pm
Sure, NOW you roll high! :-p For the record, I was going to run in and hit the barrels and DD regardless of whether it's a good idea or not. Just wasn't sure if I'd have to roll for something in addition to damage on those darned magically enchanted barrels.
Feb 11, 2016 12:05 am
You could totally dimension door out. It would probably look like you perish in the blast then suddenly appear next to the grieving group.
Feb 11, 2016 2:44 am
Out of curiosity, does anyone here have any interest in Dungeon World?
Feb 11, 2016 3:13 am
Yes actually. Was just looking at that the other day. You running a game?
Feb 11, 2016 3:38 am
Talking myself into it. I haven't had much success in previous games (I've only tried running DW once or twice), but I figure I just need to keep at it. I don't know how you GM's do it!
Feb 11, 2016 3:46 am
I've heard good things about it, but have never tried it.
Feb 11, 2016 3:49 am
Never tried it, but it has always sounded interesting. I listened to a podcast that ran it once, I am pretty interested in the system.
Feb 11, 2016 3:51 am
The things I love about it are the things that make it daunting to GM. It's very character-facing. All players have a major part in creating the sandbox and then playing in it. The mechanics are super simple, which may be more or less fun depending on how you like to play. In my (somewhat limited) experience, I've found it to be a great system for telling crazy stories and getting players invested in one another. But I've been super lucky with awesome GMs so maybe I shouldn't oversell it- ha.
Feb 11, 2016 4:23 am
From what I've heard this is a great system to run to offload some stuff to the players, sort of like Apacolypse world. Also I'm not an amazing GM by any means, I just do my best and hope everyone has fun. You will do great.
Feb 24, 2016 4:02 am
Sorry for delay. Crazy last few days. New post up tomorrow morning.
Mar 6, 2016 2:59 am
I'm going to GM NPC crollwel a bit, I think teaanddice is inactive for a bit.
Mar 9, 2016 4:00 am
I just realized I didn't have Charm Person prepared. Whoops. I keep forgetting that I'm supposed to pick those.
Mar 9, 2016 4:01 am
I'll let t slide because narratively I love that he was smitten only moments before Crolwell buried an axe in him. :)
Mar 20, 2016 7:55 pm
Did that woman say the other prisoners are in THIS tower, or the same one as my troupe?
Mar 20, 2016 7:58 pm
Same as your troupe. They hadn't mentioned anything in the other towers.
Mar 21, 2016 12:36 am
Not sure if I've ever asked Aelar about this but who are the members of this troupe? How long has he known them?
Mar 21, 2016 12:48 am
I will make a post about them tomorrow, hopefully. I haven't yet fleshed all of them out in my mind. The only two I know for sure are Felix and Garig. I also know of there are set of twins (acrobats).
Mar 21, 2016 8:28 pm
These are the main members who are ALWAYS with the troupe. There are others that come and go.

Management

Felix: Middle-aged man, greying hair. Lighthearted and kind leader of the troupe, he became a sort of surrogate father for Aelar after he caught him trying to steal from him.

Garig: 50+ year old man, bald (shaved). No-nonsense manager of the troupe. He manages scheduling, finances, and training of the troupe members. He cares deeply for the members of the troupe, but doesn't allow them to get away with anything.

Performers

Talia and Alanna (23): Talia and Alanna are identical twins, the acrobats of the group. Both are very attractive females with blonde hair and blue eyes. They have very playful personalities and have always enjoyed teasing Aelar mercilessly, knowing how he gets around attractive women. Talia has strong romantic feelings for Aelar, though she hasn't told him yet. This has caused her to become a bit more shy around him than her sister.

Vanar: Vanar is in his mid-20s, with a shaved head and dark eyes. He is the strongman of the troupe (Strength 18+). He likes to put on a serious front for the audience, but is really easygoing. He likes strong drink and bawdy bar songs.

Eagin (34): Eagin is a halfling of middling years. He is the best knife-thrower Aelar has ever encountered, and an accomplished sword swallower and fire-breather as well. He is very lighthearted in his interactions, though he does not appreciate those who look down on him due to his small stature.

Davos: Davos is the fortune-teller of the troupe. He is 70+ years old, but still spry and alert. He has a gift for divination magics and a grand storyteller's manner. He taught Aelar everything he knows about magic.

Other Staff

Alfred, Edwin, and Bruce: Young men (12-14), they are in training and do minor performances during shows and assist with labor.

Aelar has been a part of the troupe for 11 years, since he was 9.

At some point weren't we doing side-based Initiative?
Mar 23, 2016 2:22 am
Single digit initiatives FTW!
Mar 23, 2016 2:25 am
If I would have thought about it, I would have used my inspiration on that roll... Crap lol
Mar 23, 2016 2:26 am
Somehow, the only times I ever remember we have inspiration is when I'm making attacks.
Mar 23, 2016 2:32 am
Possibly. Was that this game. If so, since neither of your sides had the drop, I'll say the side with highest initiative roll will go first.
Mar 23, 2016 2:34 am
So, it will be you guys because of Ramas. lol. My own NPC betrayed me.
Mar 23, 2016 2:35 am
WHEW. Saved! Haha. Seriously though, these are the lowest initiative rolls I've ever seen!

Nothing like barging into a room unprepared. :-)
Mar 23, 2016 2:40 am
That's how the best battles start!
Mar 23, 2016 2:45 am
Can Aelar tell if it's Talia or Alanna on the table?
Mar 23, 2016 2:46 am
The attack rolls are making up for the poor initiative!
Mar 23, 2016 2:46 am
Jinx! Both attacked at the same time. Posting twinsies!

Mar 23, 2016 6:56 am
I may give Crolwell a day to hopefully come post a combat turn, otherwise I may just pass on him for now so we don't get too hung up.
Mar 24, 2016 2:53 am
If Crolwell still hasn't posted by tomorrow afternoon I'll just move the posts along and assume he wandered off in the other direction when you chased down the goblin. Seems very Crolwell.
Mar 26, 2016 1:51 am
Yeah, Crolwell wandered off again. Enemy turn!
Mar 26, 2016 2:42 am
You're just trying to rip poor Aelar an emotional new one, aren't ya? Lol
Mar 26, 2016 2:44 am
I actually wrote Talia, and then went back to finish reading the bio and was like, oh yeah, it's definitely Talia. Sorry, Aelar.
Mar 26, 2016 2:46 am
In case it wasn't quite clear, this is the Keep's boss battle. Hopefully you stocked some Phoenix Downs.
Mar 26, 2016 2:58 am
Holy crap, Ütés gonna die!
Mar 26, 2016 3:10 am
What! When did this happen! Ahhh!
Mar 26, 2016 3:17 am
Stupid orc and his axe. :-)

Ütés is alright for the moment, but she's about out of tricks, another hit like that last one and she'll be done for...
Mar 26, 2016 3:21 am
Also, to be fair. You took like over half of his hit points in one round. He is just making up for lost time.
Mar 26, 2016 4:03 am
Calling it out now so I don't forget- I will use inspiration the NEXT time I attack.
Mar 27, 2016 2:32 am
Next enemy turn should be up on Monday. Easter Sunday and whatnot.
Mar 31, 2016 5:30 am
Enemy turn will probably be up tomorrow, its late and i got a baby to take care of.
Mar 31, 2016 7:34 pm
I'm really glad that spell worked!
Mar 31, 2016 7:38 pm
I would have been more interested to see what you did had it not. Lol. What's the duration of that spell anyway?

One minute lol

And yeah, I wasn't sure what I was going to do
Mar 31, 2016 7:42 pm
Whatever it is isn't undead right? I may have missed something.
Mar 31, 2016 7:48 pm
Moofsalot says:

I'm guessing she was given the same substance that we were when we were at the beginning.
Mar 31, 2016 7:52 pm
Your characters could probably deduce that. From what you understand it lasted for a while, but eventually you all returned to normal.
Mar 31, 2016 11:02 pm
I sure hope that you just killed Gasher for us!
Mar 31, 2016 11:07 pm
Ütés is a BEAST!! Holy hell, I think she's put like 40+ damage into that damned thing. If he's not dead at this point she's just going to turn around and go home. :-)
Mar 31, 2016 11:24 pm
Damn, Gina! Ütés, there is the damage I've been expecting from you. Interestingly enough. The Orc is not down for the count. Now the attack you rolled, was that for your turn? Because you can use the Reaction either for the AOE on Gasher to stop him from running, or you will have to chase him to make that attack. you only get one reaction per round, so you can AOE or Your counter attack move.
Mar 31, 2016 11:46 pm
Here is what my thought process was going in:

I had an attack of opportunity based on Gasher disengaging which I could have done as a reaction. Since I instead used my riposte to make an attack during my reaction I had just assumed it cover the opportunity attack. If not, she will give chase in order to perform her attack action during her turn. I mean, how fast can an orc who's just been blasted in his orc balls run?
Apr 1, 2016 12:14 am
30 ft by the sounds of it. The way it would have shook out is he missed you during the attack, so you used your reaction to hit him. After his attacks were done he moved. If you had the reaction available, you could have done an AOO, which would have interrupted his movement, but your reaction was used up for the round already. So you would have had to make chase and attack for your turn. Either way Ütés hammered the Orc hard and he is really not looking so hot anymore.
Apr 1, 2016 12:19 am
Ah, I see, by using riposte Ütés had socked him before he disengaged. Fair enough, we'll say she chased him down and drove him through from behind then....
Apr 1, 2016 12:20 am
Sounds good. The main difference being instead of being hurt and in the room, he is hurt and just outside the door going down the stairs. He is out of direct view of Aelar and Xadira unless they make chase too.
Apr 1, 2016 12:22 am
If he runs from you again on the next enemy turn you will have an AOO attempt again. :)
Apr 1, 2016 8:15 pm
How far is Gasher from me?
Apr 1, 2016 8:17 pm
He is out the door and down maybe like 8 steps of the spiral staircase leading up to this tower. Since you were hanging back that's maybe only like 20 feet from you, but you won't be able to get up close. You could try and arc a spell past Ramas and Ütés.
Apr 1, 2016 8:19 pm
Magic Missile?
Apr 1, 2016 8:23 pm
I'm completely out of spell slots, so Ray of Frost it is!
Apr 1, 2016 9:12 pm
I'm assuming that hefting Alanna up into the shackles is the end of Aelar's turn?
Apr 1, 2016 9:17 pm
Technically yes, but I'm going to assume, Aelar may not give chase so if that is your choice you can drop out of structured time. I'm sure the rest will be out of it soon enough. Feel free to do stuff in the room if you want. You have about 54 seconds until the spell wears off and Alanna wakes up.

Hey everyone, last leg of the story I have is coming up, but I have a question. Should we bring a new player on, or are you cool just being down to three people?
May 12, 2016 1:31 am
I'm cool with it either way :-)
May 12, 2016 1:46 am
Same here...
May 13, 2016 1:53 am
More people!
May 17, 2016 5:25 pm
Alright, brought in two new people. Jabes and cancerman. If they want they can either be members of the Daggers, or additional adventurers. Once they make their characters' I'll work to bring them into the game and we can start this thing up again.

We are on the final arc I had planned in here, so prepare yourselves!

Also the new characters coming in can start at 4 so they are even up with the current players.
May 17, 2016 5:54 pm
Ugh anyone but Jabes and Cancerman! ;-) :-p
May 17, 2016 6:01 pm
You cannot escape me! But I can be delayed with offerings of tea and scones.
May 17, 2016 11:53 pm
So, I'm active (as player or DM) in 15 games. Here's the 'games in common' count for the people in this game...

Naatkinson: 7
Moofsalot: 5
Jabes: 5
Phantom: 5
CancerMan: 4

If we can add Remnant into this game somehow I'd feel right at home. :-)

May 18, 2016 12:44 am
Well, why is remnant not here?
May 30, 2016 6:06 pm
I just spent the past couple of hours reading the first two story arcs of this adventure! Fantastic RP, everyone! Crolwell was hilarious! It's too bad he's gone. I've been taking notes so I'll know who is whom (PC's and NPC's).

What "rank" is Nix as a Daggers member? Not really rank, I guess - is her pin silver, brass, electrum, or what? And what does it do? Also, is she acquainted with Ramas and Taft?
May 30, 2016 7:22 pm
Ah yes I forgot to mention that the two new characters both have the same pin as the rest of the group. i will have to double check what those do again. Lol. I've been reviewing because some of the lore got away from me. Some was improvised on the spot.
May 30, 2016 7:48 pm
It says here that they give +1 bonus to AC, and grants proficiency with DEX saves. :-)
May 30, 2016 8:00 pm
Yes that is what they do. I totally remembered that. I also didn't have to go back and look up the magic items the daggers have to our party before they went to the keep. Totally. Update up tomorrow everyone. Weekends are slow posting for me. Especially today. Two kids and just me. I'm outnumbered. Send help!
May 30, 2016 8:03 pm

Eh? I screwed up hitting "Back" on my browser or something. Double-posted. Or something.
May 31, 2016 3:53 pm
No worries. Gave me time to think up a name for this guy. I never had to name him before. The group was good about not asking for names then. :)
May 31, 2016 6:11 pm
This may be the most simultaneous threads I've had going in a single forum thread in any of my games. :)

May 31, 2016 6:38 pm
Glad you are enjoying it. I've been hoping to expand more on the HQ, and the new players gave me a renewed interest in bringing some new NPCs into the mix, if even just to fill out a little more personality in this place.

Glad Keleth changed it so I can just use the Custom character sheets for this game now. I can whip up an NPC as fast as I can type a name and google a good picture for them. :)
May 31, 2016 6:44 pm
Someone in the Bugs forum is having trouble using multiple characters. Might benefit from your expertise!

I'm not sure why there aren't more campaigns involving "hanging out at a club house eating, drinking, and making friends."
Jun 1, 2016 4:20 pm
I just like to have a change of pace from the action, and I feel like this has helped provide it. Clubhouses are fun.
Jun 1, 2016 4:25 pm
Gathering places are always good for developing characters through roleplay, and you can introduce new NPCs or even be forced to create and interesting one on on the fly!
Jun 1, 2016 4:34 pm
Plus I've learned a lot about the new players in the process. Also figured it was time I fleshed out some lore for Xadira to dive into. Give this girl a book and she'll be fed for days. :)
Jun 1, 2016 6:37 pm
Changed the current forum name because this has almost been as long as other chapters and we haven't even left HQ. :)
Jun 1, 2016 7:00 pm
This is now the second person who has been hit on who seems completely oblivious. I love you guys. Lol.

Everyone will get a point of inspiration to start the next mission with.
Jun 1, 2016 7:03 pm
This has been a totally awesome RP session, I'm gonna be honest. I would have kept going, but I kind of hit a logical stopping point :)
Jun 1, 2016 7:09 pm
I assume I didn't have to say that Aelar ended up either bunking with Tiana, or having her sneak in during the night. After your meeting after so long, and knowing you will be going on mission again in the morning. She won't want to lose a minute with him.

I think that scene is only in the unrated version, go ahead and paypal over $50 and I'll ship that scene out to you. :)

Of course what happened in that bunk are between those two. I don't know their sensibilities.

Aelar ain't gonna waste any time either, so yeah, I just assumed that they spend the night together ;)
Jun 1, 2016 7:12 pm
You will hear no end of it from Alanna in the morning when she finds out her sister wasn't in her room when she went to get her.
Jun 1, 2016 8:10 pm
No one got into a fist fight in the dining hall? Booo.
Jun 1, 2016 8:11 pm
You guys need to RP a little harder. Not even one fist fight in the dining hall. Tsk tsk.
Jun 7, 2016 3:16 am
My bad. Misunderstood. Cleared out the OOC posts. :)
Jun 7, 2016 3:29 am
I totally want Xadira to add to the misunderstanding, but it's more fun to watch them play this out. Clearly the rest of us are all standing around thinking about other things.
Jun 7, 2016 3:45 am
This is the best game of who's on first. Lol. I think I already gave everyone inspiration otherwise there would be more given out.

Of course, The Dagger's have the shop where you can buy any gear you might need. Those who are members of The Daggers. Full fledged field agents that is. Get half off of their purchases.

That goes for Nix and Firn.
Jun 7, 2016 1:50 pm
I actually don't have enough money for Studded Leather. I don't think we've actually gotten any money from our travels now that I think of it lol

Er...uh...oh yeah. Wait...don't you remember, the entire party that wasn't here got 2000 gold each! That was a thing that happened along the way. RETCON! Nix and Firn did too. But it was their paycheck from The Dagger's for their missions.

So yeah...2000 gold each. Happy Bday!

Yeah, looting bodies for coins in our case wouldn't have been the best idea. So glad we found those random coins that the bard left behind tho. Whew!

Now that we've been given an Electrum pin, do we surrender the Silver one? Or do we each have both? :-)

You will have both. You can never have enough magical items, right?

Wait, Nix can't actually read minds. She can initiate a telepathic conversation (she sends something, and can permit a reply) but not the other way around. ;-)

Also, I meant for Nix's question to be a bit more verbose but got called away from the computer haha! Will try to improve my pst in a little bit.

Ah, didn't realize that. Phina probably doesn't either. She probably doesn't understand much about your powers yet.

I think the addition of Phina to the train is going to be great. A gnome tinker who has spent her life creating things that Firn will see as an abomination of nature.

So, I'm sure I will need to know a few things about this bird, Xadira. Does it have a name? I believe you had mentioned it before, but I didn't write it down. I think last time it was around it had it's head eaten by an orc. Also what does it look like when you summon it?

And let me know if there is any specific knowledge you want to look up about the city of Salar, or it's houses.

Fawkes the fey hawk steps out of a little inter-dimensional portal when I summon him.

To all my players, and my GMs. As some of you know I'm doing demoing at GenCon this year for FFG. That on top of family stuff has caused my posts to slow like crazy. I can't guarantee much over the next two weeks up to GenCon and then for that week I'll pretty much just not post at all. After that I can pick up my posting schedule again.

So just a heads up this will cool for a bit until then. Thanks, and I'll see everyone on the other side. Hopefully without ConCrud.

What I hear: "RP like crazy while I'm running around like a headless chicken."

Got it!

This message looks oddly familiar....

I am leaving for Cedar Point tomorrow morning (Friday, July 29th) and won't get back until late Sunday night (July 31st). I'll be recuperating on Monday, so my posting may be slow until Tuesday.

Oddly familiar to what? I am back from the dead. Hopefully everyone is still hanging around.

Count on you all to do a little RP while I'm gone. Good stuff.

I'll be spinning up all my games in the next few days so keep eyes peeled for a post. Utes still has a prince to rescue. And you all have a villain to take down.

:)

So, I'm upset about something that happened in a different game and I'm wondering if I'm just being crazy. Someone recruited for a game and had us all create characters and detailed backgrounds. A day and a half into the RP, he stated her had some health issues that did not allow him the time to GM. That's totally understandable and happens to the best of us. But then he said that he'd be GMing a new, private game with just a handful of people, which included half the people from our game but not me. I'm seriously wondering if someone was somehow put off by my game play and instead of telling me so directly, decided to exclude me instead. Has anyone else experienced something like this? Am I being paranoid/overreacting? I'm so bummed. Just needed a place to vent. :(

I've played with, and GMed for, you in several games, and I'd be happy to have you in more. I can't see any problem with the way you play. There could be any number of reasons for what he did, so I wouldn't take it personally.
Aug 22, 2016 3:39 pm
Thanks, Naat. I just feel as if that game was an interview that we weren't aware of and I didn't make the cut. But you're right, there could be a number of reasons why he had to stop our game in particular.

Their loss.

As a DM of many games you are in, you are a gift and a treasure. Don't stop being you, Moofs.

If someone was to do that, you don't want to be in that person's game anyway. :)
Aug 23, 2016 4:36 pm
I think you're right to feel that way. Perhaps there was a legit reason to close the game and start a new one with half the group, or maybe the DM just wanted a smaller group and tried to make some kind of excuse without coming out and saying so. Whatever the case, it definitely shows a distinct lack of communication, and perhaps a lack of maturity, which to me does not make for a healthy gaming environment.

So no, I don't think you're paranoid or overreacting. It was the DM's decisions and actions that left you feeling excluded (even if it was by accident), so to be perfectly frank I think the blame's on them.

You mean Phina, right? Did the explosion occur in the engine car or in Phina's lab?
Sep 14, 2016 5:43 pm
Gah, you are right, Phina. The sound and smoke seemed to have come from in front of the soldier car.
Oct 7, 2016 2:15 pm
For reference, the thing Phina is in looks slightly like this...

http://img09.deviantart.net/7409/i/2015/021/9/6/steampunk_robot_warrior___groxx_by_arm01-d8esv2n.jpg

Only instead of a head the top part is more rounded off and has a well cut into it where the seat and controls are that Phina is using. Surrounding this well is a set of iron bars that form a roll-cage over the top of it.
Oct 7, 2016 2:21 pm
Whoa I was picturing a cage with a couple of doohickies around it.
Oct 7, 2016 2:32 pm
That's awesome! :-)
Oct 7, 2016 2:33 pm
No, this is a fully-functioning automaton made of wood and iron.
Oct 17, 2016 7:13 pm
I will be extremely busy the next three days. I may be able to make short posts now and then, but can't promise anything. Go ahead and move my characters along and roll for me if necessary. Thanks!
Oct 24, 2016 10:44 pm
Phantomnimbus- everything ok on your end? Haven't heard from you in a while...
Oct 25, 2016 1:49 pm
Gah, yeah. Dealt with a week long sickness in the family, then the weekend, which is always a slow time. Trying to get back into the swing. All my games kinda fell a bit. Sorry everyone!
Oct 25, 2016 2:07 pm
No worries! Hope everything is good now. Welcome back!

Ütés salutes you, Sir!

With that, I'm going to drop the game to clear up some space on my ever growing list. :-) If you do start up the game some time in the future give me a yell and I'll jump right back on board!
